    I first noticed something was wrong when the car only charged to 90% even though I set it to 100%, since I wanted it ready for the storm. I drove normally after that. When I tried to charge again, the breaker tripped. L1 charging also tripped the breaker. V2L didn’t work either. The weird part: the orange light was still on, and it was still charging the 12V battery multiple times. I have a battery monitor and everything looked normal. I was also able to drive the car to the dealer with no issues at all. No warning lights or errors on the dashboard. Dealer diagnosed it as an ICCU failure. Part is on backorder with no ETA ??????????

    Car died due to 12v battery failure due to ICCU not working properly in Oct 2023. Did ICCU recall and safety updates with dealer and they installed a new 12v battery. Oct 2025, car dies again due to 12v battery failure to to ICCU. Car has been at dealer for over 2 months waiting for new ICCU part to arrive and be installed. The ICCU system on this vehicle and related vehicles in the Hyundai/Kia line up seem to have a significant design flaw. I have no confidence a new ICCU part will 'fix' the issue. This will just push the issue out again until the new 12v battery dies and we do it all over again.

    Vehicle experienced sudden loss of propulsion while driving despite indicated remaining battery charge (~13%). Vehicle became immobilized and required towing. Dealer performed static diagnostics after recharging and found no stored fault codes, but no testing was performed to evaluate sudden loss-of-propulsion under load. Manufacturer closed case without investigation. This presents an ongoing safety risk of unexpected propulsion loss in traffic.

    The ICCU has failed. This component was replaced approximately one year ago as part of a recall, but it has failed again. The vehicle is currently parked and cannot be driven until Hyundai provides a replacement part, which may take up to three months. The failure presents a safety concern, as the vehicle can shut off while driving and leave the driver stranded. The Hyundai dealership has confirmed that the replacement part provided by Hyundai—the ICCU—is the component that failed. There were no prior warning signs of failure, other than the vehicle refusing to charge on a Level 2 charger.

    ICCU Failure caused car to lose all motive power. Car held at dealer for 18 days until replacement part could be procured. ICCU reprogramming recall had been completed on the vehicle. Part failed anyway.

    The component that malfunctioned is the Integrated Charge Control Unit (ICCU) and related high-voltage charging system in my 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5. The ICCU controls AC (Level 2) charging, DC fast charging functions, and power delivery. The ICCU assembly and charging components were serviced and replaced by an authorized Hyundai dealer and are available for inspection through service records. This defect created a safety risk because the vehicle experienced complete charging failure and reduced-power operation. Loss of charging capability can leave drivers stranded, and reduced-power “turtle mode” conditions can limit acceleration and vehicle performance, creating hazards in traffic. The charge port has also not locked during charging, creating a potential risk of electrical arcing during DC fast charging. The failure was reproduced and confirmed by an authorized Hyundai dealer. In approximately January 2025 the vehicle would not charge and remained at the dealership for an extended period (about January through June 2025). After diagnosis and consultation with Hyundai technical support, the dealer replaced the ICCU assembly and high-voltage fuse. The vehicle and charging system have been inspected multiple times by Hyundai service centers. Hyundai issued recall campaigns in 2023 and 2024 involving ICCU software updates and fuse-related work, but these did not prevent the later failure requiring full ICCU replacement. Prior symptoms included abnormal charging behavior and eventual total loss of AC charging capability during the 2025 failure, making home charging impossible. After the ICCU replacement, the vehicle exhibited unusually loud cooling fan operation during Level 2 charging, documented by the dealer. There were also charging-port safety concerns. After one service visit, an important DC pin cover/cap was not properly installed until corrected on a return visit, leaving charging components exposed.

    The ICCU stopped working while I was charging with level 2 overnight. DC fast charging still works but car failed to charge with level 1 or 2. Warranty repair. Car is in dealer for approx 4+ weeks.

    After a loud bang (fuse blown) the car was unable to move just before I was about to turn into an intersection. The ICCU failed for the second time, all warranty repair completed prior to the incident, first failure occurred in 2024. Both failures occurred close to a when the lead acid battery failed and needed replacement. When the car was stopped and started again, I was able to drive the car slowly to the dealership located less then 1/4 mile away. The car behaved as if there was no power steering but the car still jerked the wheel around to try to put me back into the driving lane presumably because I was driving in the emergency lane. Failed component was ICCU Module 36400-1XAA0. Vehicle was unsafe because I was unable to move while about to turn into an intersection. After stopping and starting the car, the was drive-able bit mildly erratic when attempting to move the car to a safe location (out of the left turning lane). Problem was identified, confirmed, and repaired by dealer under warranty for second time. Component and vehicle inspected by dealer. Failed part sent back to manufacturer. This incident occurred without any prior warning or indication by the vehicle. There were no active recalls on the vehicle at the time of the incident.

    ICCU failed and my car will not charge. The dealer has diagnosed this issue. Parts are not available to fix this issue. The problem has been reported to the manufacturer but they have no expected delivery date for the needed parts. I was told it could be months.
