While driving my vehicle, the low coolant level light came on the dashboard, so I went to AutoZone to purchase a jug of coolant fluid. On my way home, the low coolant level warning remained active, and as soon as I arrived in my driveway, the engine overheating light illuminated. I promptly turned off the vehicle and it remained stationary for a week before I had it towed to the dealership to determine the underlying cause of the coolant leak. A representative from the dealership informed me that the diagnostic fee would be $390 in order to determine the root cause of the coolant leak. Shocked by the high cost, I contacted the service manager who had mentioned the fee to the representative. He called me to let me know that he was aware I had reached out to the “higher-ups” about the fee. The next day, he clearly retaliated by instructing his co-worker a skilled Jaguar mechanic to take their time diagnosing my coolant leak in order to ensure I would pay his intended price. He called with a smug tone, as if to say "I told you so", and informed me that the price tag to fix my problem is $1300. He then asked if I wanted to proceed with the repairs, to which I replied absolutely not. I stated that I would reach out to the GM. If it took a skilled Jaguar mechanic two hours to determine that my coolant leak was caused by a thermostat housing, why should I feel confident that he can complete the repairs? I have seen a lot of posts on Jaguar forums about coolant leaks that should have been addressed as part of recalls. All 2017 Jaguars seem to have this issue. A quick internet search confirmed that this problem is widely recognized, leading Jaguar to change the defective parts and release a service bulletin addressing it. Despite being well aware of the problem, Jaguar is unwilling to fix it but want customers to pays for their faulty design.

The contact owns a 2008 Jaguar S-Type. The contact stated while driving 35MPH, there was debris on the roadway, which caused a blowout of the front passenger’s side tire. The contact then pulled over on the side of the highway and attempted to change the tire; however, the contact was unable to remove the lug nuts. As a result of the lug nut failure, the wrench provided with the vehicle became inoperable. The contact drove the vehicle with the flat tire back to the residence. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle with having poorly designed lug nuts. The vehicle was not repaired but was driven back to the residence. The contact's son who is an independent mechanic was able to bring a special machine needed to remove the lug nuts and repaired the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the failure was a known issue. The manufacturer also advised the contact to bring the vehicle to the nearest dealer which was 60 miles away from the residence for the service. The failure mileage was approximately 49,620.

While driving in the rain the headlights stopped working. An error popped up on the dashboard indicating a dipped beam fault. When I stopped there was condensation or water inside the headlight lenses on both sides and the lights would not turn back on in the on or auto position. The bright light indicator showed high and low beams but none of the lights would work except for the fog lights. We are having to replace both head light assemblies and bulbs but have not had the repairs completed yet.

Since 2019, I have reported that every fall (I have the service orders), when the weather changes and I turn on the heat, the check engine goes on and does not turn off. When I went to have this same issue serviced in January of this year, the service department found that the Timing Chain failure was causing the problem. Because my car was now out of warranty, Jaguar would not pay for it. However, upon further investigation, I discovered that this issue had resulted in complete recalls of my vehicle in other countries but not the US. So, I insisted that the service department put in a claim against Jaguar corporate. Jaguar corporate agreed to pay 40% of the repair cost, agreeing that there is a problem with the engine's design. This repair is costly and has nothing to do with how I maintain my car but a poor diesel engine design. "The timing chain breaks while driving, the car will immediately grind to a halt. It's also likely that some valves will be bent as they contact the pistons (the timing chain prevents this from happening by keeping everything moving in time). Significant valve/piston damage will occur.

Recall was 441 Battery traction, could start a fire. All started in Aug 2023 had in for recall it lowered my range to 72%. I had 98000 Miles still under warranty when this happened. Had back in dealership in for 6 weeks. They got range back at 250 for 3 days then went back down to 72%. They had me bring it in 1st week of feb for another update and told me I had to pay for new battery $15000, when it was never fixed to get back to range 240. I was told I could drive it and it would still be under warranty even if I go past 100,000 Mike's since this happened when it was still under warranty, I need help, please.

Timing chain stretched which caused engine to seize and fail at 80,000 miles. Engines replaced along with new timing, chains and belts. Two months later, the turbo seized and failed. Turbo had to be replaced. This is a known problem with jaguar for this year and model car. There are two more with the exact same problem at my mechanics right now.

Since purchasing our vehicle, we have been beset with several problems. The battery system to the vehicle has been malfunctioning consistently since at least June of 2022. The entire electrical system in the vehicle did not respond. We had to have the vehicle towed to the local Jaguar dealer. In June of 2023, we had another instance where the car was not coming on and we had been receiving notification about a “traction battery fault.” We again had to get the car towed to the local Jaguar dealer because the vehicle was inoperable. We were told that the electrical battery and the auxiliary battery needed to be replaced after a service inspection on June 30, 2023 and “that is why the vehicle would not start up for us.” We received notice on June 28, 2023 along with other Jaguar I-Pace owners about an open recall of the electric SUVs made from 2019 to 2024 in the United States. The recall notice number [XXX] was issued after the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) found that “The high-voltage battery overheating increases the risk of a fire.” The NHTSA required the following remedy that “the battery energy control module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update. In addition, battery modules will be replaced as necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge.” Our car received an OTA update to the software of the vehicle following the NHTSA recall and was cleared for pick-up on [XXX]. Yet, this did not solve the problems with the car. The battery problems have only become more severe with the vehicle. In December of 2023, we again experienced an issue where we got a “traction battery default” message. We took the car into the local Jaguar dealer out of fear of an electrical failure and the car becoming inoperable once again. The car stayed at the local dealer for over a month. The local Jaguar dealer informed us that the parts to replace the battery were on back order. Please see attached letter. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATI

I turned my vehicle on and it showed a Gearbox Fault Detected message. I was able to put the car in reverse and accelerate to 2 MPH while reversing. The car began to slow down even with my foot on the accelerator as if there was no power. I was fully reversed out of my parking spot and went to put the car in drive as I was in the middle of the very busy parking lot with cars waiting on either side to continue driving. The car would then turn on the parking break as I pressed the accelerator, no matter which gear I was in. I was stranded at an angle, causing traffic to be delayed with cars backed up all the way to both entrances of the parking lot and vehicles in the street at a complete stop to enter with a 40MPH speed limit. I had to get my vehicle towed to Jaguar Dealer Service and after diagnostic the harness for the Parking Pawl has failed and needs to be replaced. If I had been reversing out of my home into the street, or really anywhere else than the parking lot I was in, I would have caused an accident. We’re lucky an accident wasn’t caused from people being stopped in the street.
