The contact owns a 2019 Jayco Jay Flight SLX Travel Trailer equipped with a Dometic cooking stove with Part Number: 31731 - BBPFBR. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V184000 (Equipment). The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue but informed the contact that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and informed the contact to contact a dealer. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

The contact owns a 2020 Jayco Jay Flight SLX RV. The contact stated their RV was parked at a campsite, when the contact was attempting to light their stove, it failed to light the stove so the contact turned off the stove. Propane tanks were full and the contact checked the refrigerator when the contact noticed smoke coming from the cabinet above the refrigerator. The contact stated someone from the outside of the RV stated they saw fire coming from the vent from the top of the roof. The contact had extinguished the fire with water and a fire extinguisher. There were no injuries. There was no fire department report filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximate 2,000.

We have a Dometic range top/oven stove in our Jayco camper. While camping for two days I went to light the manual pilot light in our oven. I put the oven dial over to pilot and attempted to both put the match near the pilot outlet and push in the dial to activate the pilot gas flow. I could not do both so I went outside to get a helper. While outside it was decided to cook dinner on the camp fire. I forgot to go back inside and to turn the oven nob from pilot to off. Awhile later my wife went into the camper and it was "full" of propane gas. She opened a window and the door along with turning on the microwave vent fan to air out the camper. It seems to me that the safty gas valve should not leak propane while just in the pilot position.

We bought a 2021 Jayco 224BHW that was pre-wired with a solar panel and controller. The trailer came with one 100-watt panel and a 30-amp charge controller with a stated capacity of 600 watts. We added two more 100-watt panels, for a total of 300 watts and approximately 16 amps. The documentation with the trailer as well as the dealer confirmed we could add two more 100-watt panels and be well within specifications. After utilizing the system for a few months the solar suddenly worked sporadically and then ceased too function. Upon inspection under the roof port entry it was discovered Jayco had utilized wire nuts between a transition from the roof port and the wire run to the solar controller. The wire nuts failed to adequately make or maintain the connection, resulting in arcing, melting, and burning of the surrounding insulation. It could easily have resulted in loss of the trailer or our lives to fire. I believe the wire nuts were either inadequately sized, improperly installed, or inappropriate for use in a structure that is subject to vibration and loosening of the connections.

The contact owns a 2019 Jayco Jay Flight SLX travel trailer. The contact stated the kitchen faucet had been leaking from the time of purchase. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a fitting faucet needing to be replaced. However, the faucet started leaking again from underneath the countertop causing it to be swollen and soaked. The contact also stated water was leaking behind the shower trim, down into the insulation, and damaging the floor of the trailer. The vehicle was not taken back to the dealer for diagnosis or repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure.

The contact owns a 2020 Jayco White Hawk. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 21V184000 (Equipment) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that the part was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

The contact owns a 2020 Jayco Travel Trailer. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle started to fishtail and almost resulted in an accident. The vehicle was diagnosed with needing the leaf spring replaced. The RV was repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 500.

The trailer propane regulator/tank switch mounted on the front of the trailer between the two propane tanks started venting propane. The regulator is a Winntec Model 6020, P1.0-15.6, Q6.R280. Our camping neighbors said they could smell a very strong odor of propane. Propane being heavier than air will tend to pool in any low spots on the ground in a campsite and then could be ignited by many sources of spark or static electricity, causing a fire that could engulf our trailer and possibly our neighbor’s trailers. It took a while with soapy water to narrow down where the leak was coming from.

Component: Electrical wiring on the slide is contacting edge of trailer flashing when fully retracted into trailer. In the attached photos you can see where the flashing has contacted the wire loom numerous times, you can see indentations in the cable jacket, and you can see that the flashing is slightly bent where making contact. The flashing is installed to be flush with the surface on the other side of the cables. There is no room for the cables how its constructed. Safety: Flashing can continue to rub/cut against cable jacket causing potential electrical safety hazard. Confirmation: This was made aware to me by another owner of the same make, model, and year trailer who's damage was more severe. Inspected: No Warning/Symptoms: No

– Electrical fire is possible at the wiring (12V and 110V) connecting the slide out room to the main trailer body. Closing the slide is jamming the wires between two metal flaps resulting in wire jacket damage and exposing the wires under power. – The 110V hot wire was damaged by another part mounted to the trailer frame resulting in shortening hot wire to the frame, spark and burning of electrical wire in she short proximity of combustible underbelly insulation material. – The dealer has not been contacted. – The vehicle was not inspected. – The issue appeared as a sparking under the left trailer wheel pair when connecting to the shore power at the campsite. Prior to the incident, the metal flap cut through the cable insulation and shortened the hot wire to the frame. There was no any indication of this issue prior to the incident.
