2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE Complaints

My Jeep eats up thermostats too often. I have had it for 3 years and had it replaced 4 times. The last time , one year ago, it took the repair shop a week to finally install one that would hold. It needs it again. I also smell something burning when I accelerate onto the freeway since owning it. My engines fan runs high aIl the time also. I read many complaints online about people having overheating problems and temp fluctuations In the same year vehicle. This seems to be an issue and I can't afford to keep paying to have the thermostat replaced yearly. Last time last year they replaced the radiator with it since melted rubber around thermostat could of gotten into radiator cogging it. This jeep seems to be a lemon with all that has gone wrong since I bought it. I feel this issue needs to be looked into. I dont feel safe driving it anymore specially with the burning smell I get when I accelerate onto the freeway. It almost smells like wiring but not sure. It not a distinct smell. I entered only one incident that occurred with this issue as one is all I could submit. A few days ago was the recent but 2 more besides that. Thank you

The car keeps overheating. I received warning lights for the sensors to check the no flow indicator. In August I took to a mechanic and paid 1200 to have a hose repair for the cooling system. Lights went out for 4 days and problems again causing the car to completely shut off on my way home and I live in Volcano ca mountains no phone service and was stuck until morning. The car just says no flow wipe sensors. No car does not start without overheating quickly

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the low-voltage battery warning light illuminated and white smoke exited from under the hood compartment. The contact stated that the failure occurred directly as he arrived at his residence. The contact parked the vehicle and opened the hood. The contact noticed a crackling sound. The contact used the water hose and sprayed the engine down. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed coolant pump and an unknown belt. The contact was informed that the coolant pump and the unknown belt needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure reoccurred. The check engine warning light illuminated, and white smoke exited from under the hood compartment. The contact parked the vehicle and opened the hood. The contact noticed that the alternator was fire-red. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, however, the vehicle had not been diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where an unknown diagnosis was provided. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact about an extended warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 137,699.

The seat belt on the driver’s side of my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo has a cracked plastic guide, which has caused the seat belt to stop retracting properly. This malfunction compromises the functionality of the seat belt, making it unsafe for use and posing a serious risk in the event of an accident. I am currently pregnant and rely on this vehicle for daily transportation, so this issue puts both my safety and the safety of my unborn child at risk. I have contacted the dealership and confirmed there are no active recalls for my vehicle. However, this appears to be a manufacturing defect, as other vehicles of the same year and model have reportedly experienced similar issues. The problem has persisted, and the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This problem I noticed recently, and don't recall the exact date.

When I accelerate the fuel pedal to the floor the more it cuts out it did that before the recall on the high pressure fuel pump and it's doing it after supposedly it was replaced. The dealership replaced injectors, fuel rails, fuel filters, all new tubing kit, and most important high pressure fuel pump, upon inspection the dealership only replaced High fuel pressure pump and did not perform the work this is the second time I informed you about this issue. I am so highly concerned not only from my safety but safety of others if they've done this to me the dealership will do it to anyone. I hired an attorney to investigate until these illegal activities and I will be going in front of the Attorney General on this matter. I have a highly concerned issue with this vehicle the admissions is terrible the soot that goes into that engine it's ruining it at 138,000 miles my biggest issue is the exhaust gets in the vehicle with all the windows shut and I get sick on that DEF fluid that burns out the exhaust somehow someway it's getting in the vehicle and it's getting me sick I've already brought this to the attention of the manufacturer and he said the motors are junk and they should be recalled immediately this is my second complaint and no results

The Jeep has had major issues with the fuel system. The first reported issue is during the fill the filler would click like it was full when it was in the beginning stages of the fill. It ended up soaking me with gasoline and shutting down a gas station for spill. I filed a complaint with the NHTSA and the Vermont Attorney General because the dealerships were not fixing the problem. The fuel tank was finally repaired when the Attorney General got involved. 2024 the Jeep is again having issues with the fuel system. When the tank is filled to capacity it creates gasoline fumes so strong that it infiltrates the cabin and can be detected from the parking lot. It is really scary to keep having issues with the fuel system. I am shocked after reading on the internet so many Jeep owners with fuel system issues that the vehicles are not on recall. I want to report this because it is a safety issue.

While traveling at freeway speeds the engine suddenly died. The vehicle was taken to an independent shop where they confirmed the cause was a connecting rod failure. They commented this is a common failure in the 2014-2016 Jeep grand Cherokee eco diesels along with the same model year dodge ram 1500s. There was no warning signs of this issue and the independent shop stated they have not been able to find a root cause as similar to our case the engine had plenty of oil in it to prevent this issue. During this event I also reviewed the engine temp and oil temps all were well within the normal operating temps. This put others and my own life at risk as we lost complete power. Fortunately I was on a straight stretch and in the far lane so I was able to safely coast to a stop. This could lead to a very different outcome. The component has not been inspected by police or insurance agents as it’s been claimed this is not a covered component under previous FCA extended warranties for a faulty emission system.
