2019 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE Complaints

The contact owns 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle could erroneously be started and go into gear without the brake pedal being depressed. Additionally, while at a stop light, the engine revved to 2500 RPM's and the brake pedal had to be pressed to prevent the vehicle from experiencing unintended acceleration. The same failure also occurred while his wife was driving approximately 55 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and was serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V426000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who later replaced the accelerator pedal; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 50,000.

Experiencing transmission problems. Vehicle stuck in third gear - safety mainly at highways - can coase crash. and/or make harsh jerks at reverse gear - very dangerous. Confirmed by local Central Jeep Garage. Warning lamps first appear at June 2022, problem appeared at winter 2022 (Jan-Apr. 2022).

Yesterday, March 18, 2023, the sunroof in our 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee exploded while we were driving on the highway. The weather was sunny and mild (52 degrees.) We were driving in an open area (no trees) and we were not close behind a truck or other vehicle. The explosion was extremely loud and terrifying. We initially thought we'd been shot at. The driver (my husband), myself (in the passenger seat) and our dog (in the back seat) were showered with broken glass. The remainder of the glass blew out towards the car traveling behind us. We are fortunate that my husband was able to keep calm and get us safely off of the highway without further incident. As this occurred around 5pm on a Saturday, we will report this issue to our insurance and local Jeep dealership on Monday, March 20. There were no warnings or indication of an issue with the sunroof prior to this incident.

I was sent a recall notice ( Z48/NHTSA 22V-426 ) and contacted the dealer to schedule. the recall is for the breaking system, and it took months to get an appointment, apparently bad breaks are not a concern? when I was finally able to get an appointment they claimed I had no recall? I described the issues to the service manager, and he said that I was experiencing the issue the recall was supposed to fix but they would not fix it as a recall, because they claim I do not have a recall despite getting more than 1 letter. the issue - the vehicle will not stop in and emergency situation. I have tried this at 25 MPH, and just slowed down, I have nearly hit other cars because I could not stop topping a blind hill. I have a long list of very scary examples. FCA says they will not add my vehicle to the recall list, so in case of a major crash or running over a child, I guess I will go public with legal backing. this complaint will also be noted that it was brought to your attention.

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were flashing before the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle stopped in the middle of the road. The contact had the vehicle towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the body control module (BCM) needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 65-70 MPH, there was an abnormal burning odor detected. The contact checked under the hood but was unable to locate the source of the burning odor. After stopping and parking the vehicle, the contact was removing items from the rear seat and noticed a large hole and small hole in the seat. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who stated that the failure may be due to a heating element malfunction. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred her to the local dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 50,600.

My car has a check engine light for a code that’s a “small EVAP leak”. It appears this is the same as the communication that was issued “Manufacturer communication NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10169219 wiTECH Small Leak Verification Test (SLVT) - P0456-EVAP SYSTEM SMALL LEAK”, however my vehicle is not included in this issue.

Loud creaking sound coming from both front tire areas when driving low speeds and turning the wheel. I took the vehicle to the shop and they could not identify where the creaking noise was coming from. There’s no knocking or shaking in the steering column. It sounds like it’s the shocks/ suspension in both front tires.

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the exterior lighting system failed to operate as designed and malfunctioned. The contact stated that when he depressed the brake pedal, the brake light failed to operate as needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the ABS control module software was updated; however, the traction control system failed to operate as designed. The check engine, the ABS, and the traction control warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the electronic stability control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The contact was advised to call the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 71,145.

Service air bag system warning appeared out of the blue. Warning turns on and off randomly. Assuming a faulty sensor. Have not been able to get in for service yet.
