2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE Complaints

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received a recall notification of the NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel); however, the parts to do the recall repair were not yet available. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle on several occasions, the vehicle would only start at second attempt. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle decelerated and failed to exceed 50 MPH. The throttle control warning light, the high fuel pressure warning light, and the check engine warning light were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) had failed and needed to be replaced; however, the parts were not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that parts were not available for the recall repair. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Driving and drivers headrest deployed for not reason. No collision, no nothing and just one headrest. There is no easy way to push it back down. It is clearly a malfunction. From what information I’m gathering this is something known to happen but no recall or safety warning is issued. This is very dangerous.

I was driving in the high and when I went to accelerate the vehicle went into “limp” mode. I made it to the closest dealership to get checked. The dealership explained to me the tone wheel delaminated and that is the reason my check engine light came on. The codes read camshaft position sensor issue, but the dealership said it is because of the delaminated tone wheel

Loud ticking noise from engine that speeds up upon acceleration. Failing rocker arm causing debris leading to ticking noise. No error codes. Upon personal investigation online, have found "Pentastar Tick" to be a known problem in 2013-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokees on Jeep forums. Problem can lead to misfire while driving, including jerking, damage to cam shaft, as well as engine damage.

Valve lifter failure at 93,000 miles. $2,700 repair. Is apparently a very common problem with the 3.6l Pentastar engine. Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward Collision warning system front sensor failed at 56,000 miles, failed again at 76,000 miles and failed a third time at 95,000 miles. First two failures were replaced under warranty, third failure happened 1 week after warranty expiration from second replacement. Cost is too expensive to repair ($3,000 for new sensor) and requires that safety feature be turned off as sensor will perceive increases in road elevation (hills) as another vehicle and apply the brakes

Today, July 22, 2023, my son (21 years old) was sitting in the driver's seat of our Jeep Grand Cherokee 2015 parked in a parking lot and he felt like someone punched him in the back of the head. It turned out to be the headrest (active head restraint) whacking him in the back of his head. The active head restraint pushed out and can't go back in. He was not driving, but his head and neck hurt from this spontaneous event. I called the dealership where we purchased the car and we are bringing the car to the dealership on Monday, July 24th. There were no warning lamps, messages or any other problems with the car when this happened. He was not even driving.

Car accelerated without warning propelling me across a curb, street, then a second curb. The SUV was stopped upon impact at a concrete building. Fortunately there was no injury to others but the accident caused the car to be totalled by my insurance company. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The airbags did not deploy upon impact,

The drivers side headrest deployed for no reason. This is a major issue that puts the person sitting in the front seats at risk. There was no warning of any kind before it happened. When I called the dealership, they say they have never heard of this issue.

The Seat belt was recalled 2 years ago and we are waiting on a part from Jeep dealership and we just heard that this Jeep is being recalled for possible explosion in conjunction with back door of Jeep
