2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE Complaints

The car just stalled in the middle of the road on a busy street with the information 4wd drive temporarily unavailable till service. There was no prior warning, the car has around 80K miles and has been taken care of regularly with no outsanding calls or other maintenance. Checking the resources available, the reliability on this car seems pretty low with many know transmission issues. I had the car towed to the dealer and they are wanting to fix 1. valve body and connector to pan, 2. dtcm and broken engine and trans mount. A few weeks back the drivers side seat belt stopped retracting (the dealer said they would fix that). The car just stalling with no prior notification or issues added to which the car belt retracting happened on a busy street and very well could have happened in the freeway causing safety and security issues for this and other vehicles on the road. There are innumerable cases of transmissions reports and issues for this vehicle, most of those fixed earlier on during the warranty might just seemed to happened a little bit later. It is a disaster waiting to happen with other vehicle owners if not addressed proactively in my humble opinion, I was relatively lucky to have happened without an incident but it could have been worse. Please need your help in addressing this safety issue asap.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at highway speeds, the emissions filter warning message appeared on the instrument panel. The contact then stated that the error message disappeared while he was driving; however, a message reading "Incorrect Diesel Exhaust Fluid quality detected. No engine starts in 200 miles" appeared on the instrument panel. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was instructed to bring the in vehicle for an inspection. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.

Jeep placed in park on slight incline and turned off. 5 minutes later seen rolling down driveway (seen on video).

First issue is that I had to replace the Uconnect system this year. It had been on the fritz for some time and updates could not be made to the old system. It would constantly go black. Second issue 2017-$30,000 Miles is that the Replaced steering rack and pinion and align 600 suspension and chassis 4778. Replaced the Leaking Rack and Pinion and passenger front caliper due to sticking bleeder valve 300 bakes. 11/2017 Evaporative System SEAL canister. 2018 Power Brake Booster/vacuum leak and braking issue. Replaced Radio. $1200 ish. Drove car 2/21 50,221 - 10/2022 53,000. October 2022 daughter driving car, gear slipping and engine light comes on and pulls over car not shifting at all into gear. Towed to Jeep where NEEDS NEW TRANSMISSION plus at 53,000 miles!!! $15,00 plus quoted at JEEP.

It has been 5 months since I received a notice from Jeep that my vehicle has a recall due to a possible fuel pump failure (NHTSA# 22V-406). At the time I received the notice there were no parts available to remedy this problem. The parts are still unavailable. This is unacceptable. I worry when driving the car that it might leave me stranded in a dangerous situation. I have explored selling the car back to the Jeep dealer but they don't want it due to the open recall and I can't in good conscience sell it privately. When the open recall is brought up no one wants it. How long are Jeep owners in this situation supposed to wait for this to be fixed. It seems like 5 months is too long. What is NHTSA doing to remedy this?

The passenger side headrest popped out violently by itself. Was driving up the interstate when the headrest randomly popped out. The headrest is unable to be reset. This could have been a very dangerous issue had someone been sitting in the passenger seat when the active headrest system deployed.

The contact stated after she shifted gears to Drive, she lost control of the vehicle, which cause the vehicle to crash into a metal gate and into a brick wall. The contact stated she did depress the brake pedal but it failed to stop the vehicle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated and the air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained bruises on her left arm and left leg from hitting the steering wheel. The contact did not seek medical attention. A police report was not filed since it was her residence. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact called the insurance company and had the vehicle towed to a towing lot. The insurance company has not assessed the vehicle. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000. The VIN was not available.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that on multiple occasions while he or his wife was driving, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed back to the residence. The local dealer was notified of the recall notice and the failure and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall repair. The contact was informed that the soonest available appointment would be in December. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that parts were not yet available. VIN tool confirms parts are not available. The failure mileage was approximately 142,000.

While driving normally, the passenger headrest violently shot open. Plastic clips which once held a metal rod inside the headrest can be seen stressed and broken, causing the active head restraint (AHR) systems to deploy. Several independent websites and forums show this is a known issue but there has not been a recall. There were no warning signs of an issue until this point.

The Seat Belt would not retract, and it also would not tighten around the chest area of passengers. The belt would just lay on your lap. It was a safety hazard because if there would have been into a accident, it would not have prevented the passenger from going through the windshield.
