2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE Complaints

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the front driver's seat headrest deployed and struck the back of her head. The dealer was made aware of the failure; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

While driving down the road the passenger side ahr (active headrest restraint) unexpectedly deployed striking the passenger in the back of the head resulting in a migraine. Once stopped I inspected the headrest and saw that two plastic pieces that held the metal rod in place had broken even though we were not involved in an accident or sudden stop.

Both my driver and passenger seat belts are not retracting as they should. Seat belts are really loose and puts my life at risk every time I drive my vehicle. I did take my jeep to my local auto shop and they quoted me over $1400 to get both seat belt retractors and assembly replaced. In my opinion, its something that should be replaced without cost due to manufacturing malfunction. I have not had my vehicle inspected by the manufacturer or insurance. There was no warning lamps or messages prior to failure. I bought my jeep pre owned and have only has it for 2 years. This is not a “wear and tear” situation.

While driving in cold weather, the battery save mode was displayed. The contact was unable to turn off the features and had to turn off the vehicle, open doors, and restart the vehicle. The contact stated that several attempts were needed to disengage the features. The local dealer was contacted but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was unknown.

I lost control of my 2015 jeep grand cherokee Laredo and crashed head on into a utility pole. The airbags did not deploy and my seat belt did not lock up on. I was traveling about 40mph at the time. The lack of restraint from the seat belt and no airbag sent me smashing into the steering wheel. No warning lights telling me something was wrong with airbag.

Hello I’ve seen some oil leakage all over engine of car. Mechanic stated the oil filter housing has to be replaced but not covered under jeep warranty. car is driving ok for now .I’m at 79,000 miles. I’m concerned that this may become a bigger issue especially fire hazard when driving car.I’ve see similar issue on 2 other jeeps grand cherokees. I have not seen it come up as a recall but have seen multiple complaints.I feel that this is a mechanical issue and should be covered by Jeep.

Front passenger active head restraint deployed while parked with no collision. It was very loud, and the car shook violently. I thought something enormous been dropped on the roof of the car, but there was no impact of any kind. Had I been driving, this very definitely could have caused an accident. If the driver headrest had deployed while driving, an accident would have been all but guaranteed. The problem has not been investigated by a dealer, police, or insurance representative. There were no symptoms or warnings before the headrest exploded. The car was idling in park at the time.

The contact stated that while her husband was parking the vehicle, the brake pedal was depressed but the engine revved, and the vehicle inadvertently accelerated forward. The vehicle crashed into the garage door and damaged another vehicle parked inside of the garage. The contact's husband then attempted to reverse the vehicle, but the failure recurred. No injury was sustained and no medical attention was received. No police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but the vehicle was not yet diagnosed nor repaired. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.

I was driving on a clear sunny day on a fairly open freeway when my sunroof spontaneously exploded. There was a very large bang that sounded like a gunshot and the glass shattered. Fortunately I had the shade guard closed, otherwise it would have rained down on me. I am very confident it was not a rock or something hitting the sunroof. Had the glass fallen on me, I could easily have gotten it in my eyes and lost control of the car and potentially caused an accident.
