2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE Complaints

Uconnect NAV 8.4N updated to the latest firmware when purchased in July of 2020. Currently it will reboot randomly and go to a black screen. At which point it will blast the heater and the radio at full volume while driving. Extremely terrifying and dangerous. Uconnect says it’s not their problem as it is an 8 year old system. Seems like they should be held accountable for forcing drivers into a DISTRACTED driver situation. Repeatedly. So far the only fix I have found is to pull over immediately and restart the vehicle. I am about to purchase an aftermarket unit to replace this dangerous item that is also affecting the resale value of said vehicle.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while attempting to open the liftgate manually, the liftgate failed to operate as designed. The contact was however able to use the key fob to operate the liftgate. The contact stated whenever the vehicle was not in use the battery would be drained. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V393000 (Structure). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000.

It increased speed, then tried to break and the breaks locked up, then I tried to move to not hit the car in front of me and the whole front passenger side control arm snapped off causing me to loose a tire.

The breaka locked up and i went to go around so i wouldnt hit the person in front of me. When i did the front axle cv joint totally snapped off the passenger side that hold the tire on. And i couldnt steer or anything

Power steering, engine acceleration, coolant/radiator, belts, eco diesel system, blind side detectors and automatic emergency breaking have all been major issues with this jeep. I've almost been crashed into by other vehicles, including an 18 wheeler, because of the engine instability. It is now in the repair shop and completely unable to drive.

The air ride suspension failed and is available for inspection. The "Service Air Suspension Immediately" notification appeared while driving. The problem has been confirmed by Stellantis dealership. The components were inspected by the manufacturer and insurance. There was not an indication of failure prior to failing. Stellantis technician claims the air suspension experienced an electrical failure causing an internal leak on all (4) air bags. The only remedy is to replace the entire suspension system. I do not know the safety implications of this failure if I continued driving the vehicle.

Seatbelt retractor faulty Could not secure seatbelt around driver side of seat which IF an accident occurred, no restraint to hold in passenger. Yes Vehicle was inspected by the dealership and replaced for $527.50. There was no warning or problems prior to failure of the seatbelt retractor.

Cruise control Didn’t disengage and continue to accelerate. Tried to apply brakes but they went straight to the floor and didn’t work. Placed the car into neutral and kept trying brakes until they started to come back. With the car continuing to accelerate went into breakdown lane and rubbed up against guardrail to avoid car in front.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While operating the vehicle the contact became ill and had headaches, nasal drip, and burning eyes. The contact suspected that carbon monoxide was leaking into the cabin of the vehicle. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 162,000. Carbon monoxide comes into the cabin.

The Active Head Restraint system, which is integrated into the headrest unexpectedly deployed while I was safely operating the vehicle on the highway. The impact to the back of my head caused a concussion. The vehicle was not involved in a collision or other kind of accident that would trigger the system to deploy. After parking the vehicle and inspecting the headrest, it was observed that several plastic fastening components failed causing the unintended deployment of the system. It was also observed that the plastic around the metal fastening pin had failed. Internet research shows that this is a known problem with Fiat Chrysler automobiles. A Federal investigation is ongoing relating to this issue. Further, there is a class action lawsuit in the state of California.
