2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE Complaints

I took my vehicle to get an oil change at a non-Jeep dealership, that I purchased the vehicle from and was told that I had an oil leak and that I would have to take it to a Jeep dealership in order to have it fixed. When I called the Jeep dealership and explained what the previous dealership told me, they said that this is a known issue with Jeep and that they have recently fixed this issue on several Jeeps within the last month. After checking on this site to see if there was a recall in place, due to the costly repair, there was none. How could there be so many complaints on the same year, make and model Jeep, for the same issue, and yet no recall? This is definitely a manufacture defect! They clearly put a plastic part on this vehicle knowing darn well that it will eventually warp due to hot oil being transported through it. $900 is a lot of money!!

I just bought my car from a local dealership about 3-4 weeks ago. Upon receiving it I found no issues. A couple days later, every time I would go to push start my car, it would lag and take about 5-10 seconds to actually turn over and start. It doesn't do it every single time but about every other time. It has been in and out of my local Jeep dealership since I have received it and they cannot figure out the issue what's so ever. If we cannot get it figured out soon, I will be returning the car!

The leather on the dashboard is de-laminating from the dash and pulling the grilles from their original positions.

Blind spot mogul not working . Not knowing if anything or person is on either side or behind the suv.The component has been inspected by the dealer. Warning light can on.

I went to the dealer and told them about my seat belt, they said I need a new retractor. So after doing my research on YouTube I see numerous people with this vehicle body style have the same problem, people suggested it wasn’t the retractor but the plastic peace that the belt is in between on the pillar of the car is for some reason squeezing it, so I used a knife to see if I move it up will it work? And yes it did the problem was that and possibly the retractor but not as I can tell. This issue is happening too much for it to be just a oops. It is a safety concern for me and my passengers god forbid an accident with anyone with this issue. It is unethical as well for the dealer to charge an outstanding $1,200.00 not everyone has the funds to fix something that is so priceless such as safety. I’m sending this letter on behalf of all the people that live with this issue.

Oil cooler filler housing is plastic and it warps and oil is leaking on top of hot engine, running down engine side onto hot exhaust pipe. Oil travels along underneath chassis. FIRE HAZARD! Prior part was not made of plastic. 61,000 miles on Jeep

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while attempting to park the vehicle, the transmission failed to shift into PARK. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer nor repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V240000 (Power Train) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee currently has 27,000 miles on it and until 2021 was never driven in the winter. (I previously spent the winters in Florida; this car was not involved in driving to and from Florida.) I am retired. Due to my retirement status and COVID restrictions since 2020, my driving has been limited to about 3,000 miles per year. Without any prior warning, the oil filter-cooler housing adaptor assembly failed, causing oil to leak out of the engine through the o-rings and onto the transmission housing. This created a mess under the car anywhere it was parked. It creates a hazardous condition because the leaked oil can cause people to slip and fall wherever it lays on the ground, and if the driver is on the road and the engine loses enough oil and oil pressure, it can result in extensive damage to the engine, maybe an accident. I have checked your database, and see that this problem has not been part of any recall. They did show us the part that failed. I do not know if they still have the old part, but they can explain the problem in detail because they told us they had done two other repairs for the same problem on 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokees during the previous week. The cost of this repair came to $848.41. I think it is outrageous that this problem, which appears to be a flaw in engineering, and has occurred in a significant number of 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokees, has not been subject to a recall. I need your help and advice to determine the next step I should take in trying to get some dealer help for paying for this unexpected repair. While traveling with 2 small children on the highway a very strong burning smell starting coming through the ventilation system along with a small amount of smoke. Immediately exited the highway and left the vehicle overnight. Upon returning to the vehicle the next day, a large amount of liquid (oil) was leaked out under the vehicle as well as oil all over the components underneath the vehicle. Took vehicle to nearest mechanic and without even inspecting it, the mechanic (non dealership) stated it was likely the oil filter housing as he had replaced a # of these in recent memory due to the plastic melting and/or cracking. The mechanic confirmed the next day that this was in deed the issue and the oil filter housing had to be replaced due to mine being cracked. There appears to be thousands of these cases reported to nhtsa, yet the manufacturer is yet to recall this, which is a significant safety hazzard. Allowing a manufacturer to use a piece of plastic that is known to fail, to store and/or transfer a highly flammable liquid such as oil is a tragedy in the making. Oil leaking onto the engine and other components of the vehicle can cause a fire without the vehicle occupants knowing anything about it. If the manufacturer is unwilling to proactively recall this flawed part, then the nhtsa needs to step in and force a recall before a vehicle catches fire and there is a loss of life.

Service shifter Transfer case Radio malfunction Gear Shifter Shifter got stuck in park i had to forcefully pull the shifter to get it to go into drive. Monday Feb 14, 2022 approximately around 9:00pm I drove my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee to the gas station. I pull up at the gas pumps and pit the shifter to park, I exit the vechile and lock the doors, go inside the store to pay for my purchase and as im walking out I look and my jeep was gone. So I look around and I see it across the highway in a ditch. So I take off Running to my vechile and get in the vechile to try and reverse it but its automactilly goes right back into park. So I get out and look at the damage because there is a guard rail cables. My car has front end damage because it was stuck under the cables. Made a police report. I called the dealership where I am leasing the vechile from and they do not wanna help me. I've had nothing put problems with this vechile since I got it. This really needs to be looked into. What if my babies were in the car. Thankfully there was no oncoming traffic at that time. Becauae its a busy highway. I also have video footage of the incident from that night.
