2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE Complaints

Leather separating from dash board. Causing distraction while driving also bubbles interfere with low light sensor on dash.

UNKNOWN I was parked when out of no where i heard a poping noise and i lucky no to have my head on the head rest at the moment of it popping , till when i tried putting my head on it i felt something off and thats when i saw that the head rest poped . I was not in a crash i didnt not hit anyone or was hit by anyone as well just happened on its own .

Passenger headrest popped open randomly while driving. Inspection is available upon request. My understanding is that this only occurs if a collision is detected. However no collision occured. No one was injured however had my wife been sitting there she could have easily been injured. The headrest could have smacked the back of her head. No warning lamps indicated anything wrong no warning occured before the deployment of the headrest. This seems to be an ongoing problem amongst jeep grand Cherokee owners.

Jeep Grand Cherokee power steering leak! We’re having the same problem that other Jeep owners are having, the steering rack leaks on the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. The leak was discovered through regular maintenance check in 2018. We filled the reservoir with new fluid, it was fine for the entire year. It wasn’t until July 2021 that we discovered that fluid was leaking from the Steering Rack and Pinion and spraying fluid on to the engine. It got so bad that we had to fill the reservoir daily! My wife uses it locally and it’s never driven more than 100 miles a month and it has never been driven off road. This is appalling that it suffers from this kind failure so early in the Jeeps life. When I confronted the Jeep/Chrysler company with this issue, there only response was “it’s outside the warranty timeline”. The rep name was Sade and she was rude! This Jeep was garaged kept throughout it’s life. We’ve maintained this vehicle in immaculate condition, so much so that it STILL HAS THE NEW CAR SMELL!!! Very disappointed in Jeep. They used to be very reliable until they were bought out by FIAT, Go figure!

Vehicle is downshifting automatically. Burning smell, squeaking/ whistling sound coming from under the hood. Smoking from under the hood tone to time. Car stalling on take off.

While driving, I heard a loud explosion, and my head/ neck jerked forward to the steering wheel. I immediately thought someone hit me from the back. My daughter in the passenger seat shouted, “Are you Ok?” She told me that the back head rest exploded. I was shaking and tears filled my eyes as I pulled over to the side of the road. The driver’s headrest deployed for NO reason! I was so lucky that this did not cause a major accident! That evening (and for the next 4-5 days), I had a headache and lower neck pain. Today, it still feels sore. Even though the dealer fixed it, the salesmanager could not confirm if the new head restraint had the same faulty parts inside. My daughter is 15 1/2…She is scared to death of learning to drive in my Jeep. She witnessed the restraint deploying, and doesn’t want that to happen to her. Me either! I have been a Jeep owner for 22 years. Sad to say that I might not be much longer :-/,

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee the radio stop responding, won't allow to be turned off, won't allow to lower the volume, vehicle has to be turn on for 5 minutes and turn back on, then radio will start working normal again. It has happen to me in multiple ocaccions while listening to music via bluetooth from my phone.

Steering rack and Pinion failure due to leaking fluid. Dealer will not cover cost. This shouldn't happen to a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with only 62k. Please investigate and place a recall for this design error. Very dangerous for all drivers and conditions. I am afraid to drive this car now. I am currently driving another car.

On the drivers side, the plastic guide that guides the seat belt into the pillar and down to the retraction unit, is cracked and is pinching the seat belt, not allowing the seat belt to properly retract.

Driver side seatbelt won't retract. There seems to be a broken piece of plastic on the top piece.
