2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE Complaints

Engine stopped working suddenly while driving. Pulled to side of road,tried to start it with no luck.Starter working, cranking but engine is not firing. No warning messages,no check engine lights,only changed message on cluster Before it showed "press brake then press button to start engine" now it shows "press clutch ... to start engine".3 weeks back visited dealership(MotorWorld in Wilkes-Barre,PA) to fix last recall.After 2 days spent at dealership,nothing happened, recall was not completed.Accident happened 7/7/21, next day vehicle was towed to dealership, set for diagnostic for Friday July 9,2021,and now it is sitting there for 10 days,with no information what exactly happened to vehicle

The air ride suspension says it's stuck in off-road 2 but is visibly stuck in the lowest setting. When driving it is very bumpy, almost worse than offroading. I do t think our safety is at risk. The problem has not been looked at by any professionals or independent dealers. It has not been inspected. We can't remember the exact time we noticed the message, but roughly around December 2020- January 2021. It is not a light it is a message that pops up a handful of times while driving.

Randomly my grand Cherokee overland 4wd stared spraying oil all over the rear of the vehicle. Took it to jeep and they said the rear deferential was shot and that the hose had melted off due to over heating. The vehicle never once displayed any indication of any failure or overheating. When I asked how could there not be any warning lights I was told it just happens. After researching this issue I discovered it's a very common problem. My concern is the vehicle could have easily locked up and caused the vehicle to flip or cause an accident with no warning.

The active head restraint on the passenger side deployed on its own with no outside influence

My jeep has developed the 3.6L Penastar tick. I noticed FCA extended the warranties for vehicles equipped with the 3.6L Penastar V6 but for my model they stopped in 2013. How can I get my year added to that warranty since it developed the same problems as the previous years. We had our jeep at a local dealer in Wasilla Ak for a tune up before our long trip and he didn't mention anything to us even though the tick was noticeable. I then had my vehicle state safety inspection completed (Texas) in 1st week of June and the mechanic told me about it and after some research, my jeep has the same tick coming from the engine.

The headrest on my 2014 jeep grand cherokee deployed on its own while driving. The headrest is pushed so forward that i am unable to drive my car safely.

Passenger side front seat seat belt fail to retract once extended, resulting in excess seat belt material across the body, and thus possibility of a delayed or insufficient tensioner reaction in an event. After taking to a local service shop, the problem is with the upper plastic guide pinching the belt. This is a huge safety issue since there can be slack in the belt for the front passenger. Also, the upper plastic guide on the driver side front seat belt has a fracture.

The drivers side seat belt will no longer retract making it not useable. It appears that the D-ring is cracked preventing the seat belt from working properly, Appears that there are several other NHTSA incidents similar to this one and have been under investigation.

My vehicle was in park and unable to start, all of the lights and indicators worked as expected but it the message on the dashboard said to continue in Drive. I was unable to start the vehicle or unlock the doors. The vehicle was towed to the dealership and they said that I need to replace the automatic transmission control module. This is the same component that has failed in countless Jeep Grand Cherokees yet there has not been a recall for my specific model.

I was preparing to stop at a stop sign when I heard a pop/burst. It was startling. I thought some glass or something broke but couldn’t see where. I looked over and I noticed my car seat headrest was open. Thank God no one was sitting there. And no one has for months now. So I’m unsure why it would have done that.
