2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE Complaints

The 3.6L engine has a misfire and that problem was addressed by replacing the following new plugs, coilpacks, injector, plenum gaskets and it ended up being the rocker arms or cam shaft This has to be address as it is a wide problem with EVERY one of these engines.

My TCM (Transmission Control Module). Yes. While driving my jeep kept shifting into Nuetral all by itself and I would have to shift back into Drive. This is going into my jeep dealer on 8-5 and put on the diagnostic test. It was only checked out by plugging in the meter and this is the code that came back. Has not been inspected by police, insurance, Jeep dealer as of yet until 8-5-25. Yes it went from shifting g into Nuetral by itself to Slow g down on its own and it happened most recently on a major interstate with an 18 wheeler behind me and almost rear ended me. As I gave it gas it wouldn’t go I rolled to side of road. This was the 5th time this happened to me. It all started back in beginning of July. The check engine light came on.

Windshield wipes are malfunctioning. They come on and function by themselves without the windshield wipers being activated. Purchased the car on 5/26/2025 and issue started on 6/1/25. Took the car to the dealership on 6/2/25 to check the problem out. They couldn’t mimic the problem. Car has been back and forth to the dealership 3x since 6/2/25 trying to figure out what the issue is.

Car slips into neutral while on highway. Car continues to go from drive to neutral. Mechanic states new transmission necessary. Contacted Chrysler Jeep dealer they stated all recalls complete not their problem.

The contact owned a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 35 MPH, multiple warning lights illuminated. The contact noticed smoke emitting from under the hood. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and immediately exited the vehicle. The contact opened the hood and flames were visible. In addition, the electrical throttle illuminated, and the temperature gauge displayed it was hot. The fire extinguished on its own. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed and informed the contact that the wires were damaged by the fire up to the location where the starter was located. However, no cause for the fire was found. The vehicle was towed to another independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the vehicle was sabotaged. The vehicle had unknown electrical work completed on the vehicle. However, the vehicle failed to start. Most recently, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle's mileage was 224,495 and at the time of registration, it was discovered that the mileage on the title was 26,270. The insurance company was not notified. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 225,585.

The engine and powertrain are affected by a defect described in Safety Recall 66A / NHTSA 23V-411 (loss of crankshaft position). Despite the recall software update being performed, my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee continues to display Diagnostic Trouble Code P0336 (Crankshaft Position Sensor Performance). This issue causes intermittent stalling, hard starts, and loss of engine power, which creates a serious risk of crash if the vehicle stalls while driving. The safety defect described in the recall — tone wheel magnetic material delamination leading to crankshaft signal loss — is still present. Two diagnostic reports (one from an FCA-authorized dealership and one from an independent mechanic) confirm the presence of DTC P0336. The Service Manager at the dealership agreed this is likely recall-related but said FCA corporate must authorize hardware repair. FCA (Case #93427994) has refused to approve full repair, leaving the safety defect unresolved. The defect has been confirmed by the dealership and independent service center and persists despite the software reprogramming remedy. Warning lights (check engine) are active and the issue is repeatable.

The vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact stated that the powertrain control module software was updated. The contact stated that the failure persisted. Upon further investigation, the contact found document part 573 on the NHTSA website related to additional recall repairs. The contact stated that the dealer refused to repair the vehicle. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V411000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and assigned a case manager. The failure mileage was 187,799.

The car will randomly throw itself into neutral and i will completely lose all power. got a diagnostics done and it is the transmission control module. the part is currently on back order because so many cars are having the same issue as mine.

I am reporting an unresolved safety recall issue on my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee (VIN: [XXX] ). On February 1, 2025, I brought my vehicle to Chapman Dodge Chrysler Jeep (3470 Boulder Highway) after being informed that the driver’s seatbelt retractor was part of a safety recall and needed replacement. I was initially told the replacement part would arrive within 10 days. However, more than five months later, the seatbelt remains unrepaired. My wife and I have called the dealership multiple times—she called five times and I called once. Each time we were promised a follow-up call when the part arrived, but none was ever made. On June 9, the dealership told us a new part order had been placed 2–3 weeks earlier from a new supplier, and that the sales associate Armando (“Mondo”) would follow up. No update was provided to me directly. On July 9, we were told the part was ordered again and messages were left with Mondo to contact us, but as of today, no one has reached out. Throughout this process, I have felt dismissed and the safety of the non-functional seatbelt— which hangs limp and offers no protection—has not been prioritized. I never received an official recall notice from Jeep, and I am left with a vehicle unsafe to drive with no clear timeline for repair. I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in addressing this ongoing safety concern, as the dealership has failed to resolve the recall in a timely manner and the delay poses a significant risk. Driver active headrest self deployed while driving. No explainable cause as vehicle was not in an accident. It happened while driving normally. No cause can be observed.
