    - South Ozone Park, NY

Entire vehicle got burned while driving on the highway, the car is available at the impound shop for inspection. I was driving the car on the highway during the hours of rush hour when the car started burning, there were many drivers around on the other lanes. The NY Fire Department battalion and the NYPD responded to the scene and we have reports. The car was inspected by the NY fire department and a KIA inspector. There were no lamps or any warnings signs nor messages of any problem or failure.

Engine burns excess oil, I am forced to add oil every other day as it consumes an excessive amount. When I spoke with the Kia Dealership they told me I have an unlimited warranty on the engine but it need to blow before they will replace it. I’m spending a fortune on oil.

Windshield wipers pause during use in intermittent and slow/low setting. Was initially told that the wipers were old and needed replacing and this would fix the issue. Wipers were replaced and still having same issue.

Hi, I had to transport a few lumber pieces that did not fit into the trunk of my Kia EV6, so I had to leave the hatch open (I pulled it down as far as possible and secured it via a rope against the latch). When I started driving the car started beeping frantically, but allowed me to drive. When I crossed an intersection traffic came to a temporary halt, and when I came to a stop my Kia all of a sudden shut off and would not allow me to put it back into gear again. When traffic around me continued I was unable to move and presented a security hazard with cars coming from behind almost running into me because they expected me to move, which I couldn't. I inquired about this at my dealership this morning and was told that there is no way to override the car's behavior and that this behavior was a "safety feature" to ensure the car wouldn't be driven with the hatch open. Now I'm asking since when is it a safety issue to knowingly drive with the hatch open to transport an oversize item - shouldn't that decision be left to the operator of the vehicle? In my opinion it's a much bigger safety issue to all of a sudden disable the entire powertrain of the vehicle when coming to a brief stop. What if the brief stop would have happened on a highway or freeway? Regards, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The second row of seats folds down and forward while driving, whether or not someone is sitting in them. This feels very unsafe, and I am concerned about how well someone would be restrained by the seat belt in the event of an accident.

I bought this car brand new and since I purchased it in December of 2021. Every summer this car leaves me stranded everytime I shut the car off and its hot outside I took it to several kia dealerships while in warranty but because it was not showing a code they couldn't fix it. The warranty ran out and this car still won't start if its hot outside but has no issues in the winter. After 3 yrs of dealerships doing nothing to fix it because there was nothing wrong a dealership replaced the computer because they said that maybe thats why its not showing a code. I got my car back from the dealership drove across the street shut the car off and stranded for another 8 hrs. This car is the most unreliable car I have ever owned. To have a brandnew car leave you stranded in the 1st 6 months and the manufacturer do nothing to fix it is unheard of but to still be dealing with it after 4 yrs and kia doing nothing to correct the issue I will be finding a lawyer and suing kia for all my lost hrs of work for the money I paid for this junk car and for the pain and suffering it has caused since they refuse to fix it.

  • 2024 KIA CARNIVAL
    - CLIFTON, VA

Incident description: While driving, the vehicle’s dashboard illuminated all warning lights (ABS, traction control, battery, check engine, forward safety system) and the engine revved to approximately 8,000 RPM with unintended rapid acceleration. Driver had to apply hard braking to maintain control and avoid a collision. A nearly identical event occurred approximately one month earlier while driving on the highway, at which point the vehicle suddenly braked hard on its own. The vehicle has been at the dealership for repair a combined 38 days across two visits. The dealer initially attributed the first event to a failed alternator voltage regulator, replaced it, but the same warning codes and behavior returned on the second occasion. Crash/injury: No collision occurred; avoided through evasive braking. Speed: Highway speed (both instances). Car was driving absolutely fine, no dash lights no signs of distress for 1.5 years then suddenly out of the blue it made a "weird noise" -no lights on dash board, and it went away. Two days later my daughter was sitting in a fast-food line and the car just died. They had to push her out of the line. She turned the car off and when she turned it back on it started up and she drove home. We made an appointment to have it looked at but with in two days before getting to the appointment it happened again, same thing different place so she drove it home. it was looked at by Pep-Boys they told us it needs a new engine. Referred us to the recall of the Seltos 2021. We then towed it to Kia Dealership and they have confirmed it is the engine and that it needs to be replaced. The car is doing exactly what the recall was specified for and they are asking us to pay because the vin number of my daughter's car is not included in the batch of vin numbers recalled. My daughter's safety was compromised by the faulty manufacturing, the car has less than 60 thousand miles on it. We are the second owner, bought at Carvana and was certified by Carvana. I wanted to file this report to ensure all options have been explored for KIA to be held accountable for the repairs. Luckily my daughter was not hurt or endanger, but it could have easily been another story.

previous warranty repair for a failed fuel injector (RO #1103175) resulted in severe gasoline dilution of the engine oil. the vehicle now vents raw fuel vapors into the cabin (Fire Hazard) and hesitates/jerks when braking at stoplights (Stall/Crash Hazard). Kia Corporate has refused to communicate for over two weeks while the dealer holds the car.
