  • 2015 KIA SOUL
    - Palatine , IL

Hello, I own currently a car, Kia Soul 2015 , I bought it from car auction, it was recovered after theft! The car is clean title! When I got it home a mechanic looked at it and told me the piston rod came out through the engine block and engine is seized up and this is a common problem for this model of Kia, piston rod is damaging the block , oil spilling and catching fire and he told me I need to go to the dealership because some people get their cars fixed if they meet the criteria for recall! Also I saw there is one more open recall this car has related to power steering that can lead to accidents if not fixed! I towed my car to Kia dealership and they told me they can't fix my recalls because I bought the car from auction! And I paid 180$ for the inspection they did! They didn't even saw the piston rod came out of block and damaged the piston and the block! They told me I have a broken piston! So is it true if you bought a car from auction they don't fix the recals anymore ? This doesn't make any sense to me! The recall is not a warranty I guess, it shouldn't expire because it can create dangerous situations on the road! So I want to know what can I do in this case to have the recalls fixed! I also asked them for a note about inspection they did and they didn't gave me anything! Thank you!

I was driving and got an error that there was a problem with the electrical system. It then gave me a n error of "Stop vehicle and check power supply". It's an electrical vehicle and I am not able to charge it now.

On April 6, 2025, while charging my car my Juicebox tripped a breaker. When I reset it the Juicebox was showing errors and was inoperable. I tried to use my backup charger (Blink) but it tripped a breaker and became inoperable too. I took the car a commercial charger (ChargePoint) and it would not charge the car. Kept getting a “charge interrupted” message. The first Kia dealer I went to did not have a Level 2 charger and could find nothing wrong and refused to help repair the car. The second Kia dealer had a Level 2 and confirmed it would not charge, but Kia would not authorize a warranty fix. That dealer suggested leaving the car for a few days and hope the car generates a fault that Kia will accept to authorize a fix. •What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The Level 2 AC charging no longer works. •How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The car tripping 240-volt breakers and making two 240-volt chargers inoperable is concerning. •Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? One dealer has confirmed the Level 2 charging no longer works. •Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? It was inspected by a Kia service shop •Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? None

Body paint on 2018 Kia Forte: Delamination of Snow White Pearl paint is causing peeling and bubbling on the car. Specific to the hood and driver car door at this time. It is available for inspection. This issue has been confirmed by an independent service center. Per the car dealer they were unaware of an issue or recall. The vehicle was inspected by the Collision shop. There were no prior warning or symptoms prior to the paint peeling.

  • 2017 KIA SEDONA
    - Oneida, TN

On [XXX] my family and I were on our way to Oklahoma. Luckily we were on a highway instead of interstate when our Kia motor blew. There were no oil warning lights illuminated, nothing. My husband luckily was able to steer the van to the side of the road safely. My vehicle had to be towed and when codes were run on it by the oil changers, NO CODES POPPED UP and there were metal shaving in my oil filter. My husband contacted the dealer, they said the only issue they could find was not a recall, but an extended warranty for an oil pressure switch, but that with it not working it "would not make an engine blow." However, another mechanic said it absolutely would. This van does have the 3.3 engine that has been recalled in other models, but not the 2017. We had to rent a UHAUL to have my van pulled by another vehicle. In the picture you can see all the oil which was lost. How was our safety at risk? We had to pull on the side of the road on a main highway (not interstate), but there wasn't much room between the road side and our vehicle, not to mention the traffic right behind us who could have parked in our trunk when the failure occurred. I dropped my car off yesterday and they stated that it did in fact need a new engine. My problem is how come the dealership won’t provide a loaner!? They are telling me that they are unsure when they can get it fixed! People need to go to work!! How can you expect a customer to be ok with this! I’m going to be forced to drive this car! This is completely ridiculous and unsatisfactory!

The vehicle was looked at and was told it didn’t have sensors for the problem, I can’t believe the vehicle didn’t have sensors for that problem when the rest of the vehicle has sensors for everything else. The vehicle should be recalled to have the sensors put on for safety concerns. I have a camera but no warning sound when object is detected.

  • 2010 KIA SEDONA
    - PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL

My 2010 Kia Sedona has a major problem with the brakes. I had a problem with the brake pedal sinking too far. I took it to a local mechanic. This mechanic installed a new master cylinder. Two days later the brakes started to grab. The brakes were activating without my foot on the brake pedal. I had the Kia towed back to the local mechanic. The local mechanic said the master cylinder was working properly. This mechanic told me to take it to the Kia Dealership to reprogram the ABS Module. I have had the Kia at the Kia Dealership three different times for this same problem. The first time the Kia Dealership did do some reprogramming. They also said there was rust in the master cylinder reservoir. The Kia Dealership has driven the car several miles. They claim they can not duplicate the problem. So they have given the car back to me without doing anything. I have had the problem with the brakes grabbing on three different occasions. Each time I have had to have the Kia towed. This problem with the brakes grabbing is extremely dangerous. I am barely able to pull off the road and get the Kia towed. The car will slow down considerably. The car will be hard to control. All four rims have been very hot each time when I touch them with my hand after pulling off the road. The left front rim had smoke coming off it the first time this happened. I have to put on my hazards lights as I can not keep up with traffic when the brakes grab. Also, the first time the brakes grabbed, the ABS and ESC warning lights came on. The last time the brakes grabbed the ESC Off light came on. The Kia Dealership has told me that there are no codes stored in the computer. I am afraid to drive the car. It is sitting in my driveway now. The Kia only has about 19,000 miles on it. I am trying to find a brake specialist locally that can inspect the vehicle brakes. Not sure what to do now.

    - Philadelphia, PA

I want to disclose this is the 2nd time this has happened. I was on the highway when the system failed. Immediately and drastically forced my car down to 25mph on [XXX] going to Philadelphia in the far left lane with no warning. I had to make it across 3 rows of traffic and ride on the shoulder of the highway until I could find a safe place. One ruining the sport tires on the car and probably messing up suspension since these cars are very sensitive and the highway does have those perforated shoulders. While cars zip past me I am having to figure out how to pull over with no force. None of the functions were working. It was traumatizing. Especially to do it again after 6 months ago the same thing happened. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
