The taillights leak, fill with water, and the bulbs short out. When this happens, the rear lights (taillights, brake lights reverse lights, turn signals) stop functioning. This occurs on a taillight for a vehicle that has never had an accident. I went to the dealer and asked them to fix this, suggesting it should be covered for free because it is a safety hazard. I mentioned that I have noticed other Kia Sedona's with the same problem of several inches of water in the taillight assembly. The service manager said, "Yeah, that happens all the time. But it isn't covered." The price to repair was several hundred dollars. I've since had to repair it three times. Here is a link to a YouTube video showing how to remove the water. The point of the video is to illustrate that this is a common problem. I was driving on 295 and my engine light came on. My car started shaking when I was accelerating and when I don’t accelerate it stops. When I come to a complete stop the car jerks back and forth acting like it wants to stall… I’m waiting on a call back from my mechanic on their diagnostic results

    1. Burning Oil Issue: I began noticing excessive oil consumption in my vehicle at approximately [130,000], with the need for frequent oil top-offs. I made multiple visits to my local dealership and reported the issue, but no lasting solution was offered. This burning issue is a known issue due to position ring failure. 2.Catalytic Converter Failure: Due to the excessive oil burning, the oil eventually began to damage the catalytic converter. This caused significant issues with the performance of my vehicle, including [specific symptoms such as loss of power, poor acceleration, engine misfire, etc.]. 3.Engine Failure: As the oil-burning issue continued, the damage to the catalytic converter worsened, leading to a total engine failure. I am left with a car that is no longer operational, and I believe that these issues are the result of a persistent defect in the engine that should have been addressed under warranty or a recall.

    - westfield , IN

Bought my 2023 Kia seltos new, Been driving it and maintaining the maintaince myself. Vehical has 58,000 Miles still under the warranty. Did my normal oil change only to have it start blowing smoke out of the exhaust. Took it into the dealer for service only to be told that the Rings are failing. that i need a new engine. Now there is a recall out for the 2020-2023 Kia Souls and Seltos with the 2.0 engines for miss manufactured rings. Mine has the 1.6L turbo in it. Seems very odd to me that they are claiming exactly what they have the recall for on the 2.0 engines. They are denying warranty.

Engine failed, leaving me stranded at a stop light. I was finally able to get it started, but it ran terribly and didn't have the power to go uphill, almost rolled back into the vehicles behind me. Had to have it towed. No warning whatsoever, engine stalled and engine light on. I got it fixed at dealership I purchased from, then it did the same thing a week later. I will NEVER purchase a KIA again. Almost every shop I inquire about service won't even service KIA engines anymore because of the problems. I'm left with a car payment and no vehicle.
