KIA Complaints

The engine stalls without warning while driving. It’s been at dangerous times on highways or just driving around town. There’s no rhyme or reason and has almost caused horrible traffic accidents. When calling the local Kia dealer to see if there was a recall concerning engine stalling I was treated very rudely and told that there wasn’t any recall issues or problems. However, upon doing an internet search I find that to be a lie. I guess it would take me getting into an accident and suing Kia before responsibility is taken.

Incident #1 ([XXX]) - while driving on [XXX} at 70 MPH in Sarasota I experienced and complete loss of engine power. The car coasted from 70 MPH down to 35 MPH until the EV kicked in. I was very fortunate as were the other driers not be involved in a serious accident. I reported this situation to Kia NA and was assigned this case number [XXX] Kia had the car from [XXX] until [XXX]. They told me the problem was a defective fuel rail pressure sensor . The assured us the car was fixed Incident #2 ([XXX]) [XXX] days later with four passengers in the car we experienced the exact same problem while driving on [XXX], a complete loss if engine power. Kia has the car now and assigned a case number of [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The Kia EV9 has a defect in its suspension that causes the rear end to "bump-steer" over imperfections in the road, giving the driver a scary sensation of losing control. For example, driving on the highway in a corner, if you hit an expansion joint or pothole, the vehicle will require a quick steering correction while the vehicle's rear-end enters what feels like an oversteer condition. This reduces confidence in the vehicle's ability to hold the road. In poor weather like snow, it's impossible to discern whether the vehicle's rear end is sliding, or if it's the bump-steer condition occurring. My wife refuses to drive the car in inclement weather, despite the vehicle being fitted with snow tires. It is a very scary feeling. Kia has yet to issue a TSB for this on 2024 and 2025 model year vehicles, and it seems that all trim levels are affected after discussing with the community on forums. Even after dialing in the alignment perfectly to manufacturer specifications, the issue does not resolve.

I have owned the vehicle for less than a month, 750 miles to date and the windshield is cracked down the center possing a safety risk while driving.

We've had the vehicle for about six months as my wife's primary car. within the first week of driving the vehicle, she noticed it "hops around" when encountering irregularities in the road surface at highway speeds. After driving it myself, I agree—the vehicle gets unsettled while driving over seams, bumps, or uneven surfaces, even minor ones like raised seams or potholes. This happens and is most noticebale at highway speeds, both while driving straight and through corners, with the rear end feeling like it's skipping, hopping, or "porpoising." Even with small irregulairities in the road the vehicle lightly sways. Tire pressure is set to manufacturer specifications, and there's no noticeable irregular or excessive wear on the tires. When I have spoken to the dealership about this, they cliam that it's perfectly normal becuase it's a heavy vehicle (referencing a 3/4 ton pickup). This does not inspire confidence in dirving the vehicle and is likely to cause an accident.

I was driving my vehicle on the freeway when all of a sudden I got a warning light that came on that said check hybrid system it looked up my brakes and steering the car completely shutdown in the middle of the freeway it happened so fast I couldn't get to the shoulder my car completely just stopped. I spoke to kia and took it to the dealership and they ended up saying because it needed a update which I then called kia and let them know the situation that I almost got in a accident and that I didn't feel safe in that car and they didn't want to help.

I had my mechanic come to my house to diagnose what has been going on and it is a recall on the motor. Along with my car throwing codes as well. I purchased the car from car max told them almost a year ago something was wrong with my car and they told me it was nothing it was a transmission issue. My father raised me to learn how to fix vehicles so o knew something was wrong. Now due to their negligence I am stranded with two small children.

Complaint-Car misfired, oil leaking on spark plugs causing an Engin Replacement that was first complained to Gossett Kia Covington Pike,1900 Covington Pike, Memphis, Tn 38128 on [XXX].On [XXX] complaint car shakes, misfire. Complaint to Gossett Kia South 2680 Mt.Moriah Rd, Memphis, Tn 35115. This date car stayed at dealership 3 days invoice a diagnostic was performed total amt $913.38. On 12/26/24 Mr.Macias on Mt.Moriah asked me to bring my vehicle in for another diagnostic test, amt to be charged $251.00 this time a tune up, replaced #4 spark plug that had misfired, fuel injectors cleaned I asked Mr.Macias "why would I have that done when it had been done the month before, the Tech recommended Engine Replacement. I also asked the above, what about the Tech's findings, Mr.Macias stated he would get back with me. On 1/16/25 Mr.Macias called to discuss Engine replacement (Projected Amt:$6,300). I have contacted Kia Consumer Assistance on 1/10/25 to discuss all of the above to no avail. I have been without a vehicle since 12/3/26 I am continually getting the run around, I have all invoices to verify my dilemma with a vehicle that is sitting unused. I am a [XXX] who is still making a $484.00 car payment per month. I've done my research on the 2018 Kia Optima's, only to find that the same problem that I'm having with the oil leaking on the spark plugs, misfiring , shaking, causing stalling in the middle of traffic, if this is not a hazard, what is ? This a problem that should have been corrected long ago. I would appreciate it if you would please help me. I'm tired of having to pay to get to and from Dr's. Office visits, drug stores and grocery stores. At highway speeds, the SUV experiences significant body sway when hitting a bump, causing it to rock side to side in an unsettling manner. This issue makes the vehicle feel unstable and nervous, requiring the driver to slow down to regain control. The excessive body roll presents a potential safety hazard, as it could lead to a loss of control in certain conditions. Based on my research, this problem appears to affect the GT-Line model more than others. A solution is urgently needed to address this serious handling issue, but so far, Kia Corporation has done nothing to resolve it.

When my car is running it makes a knocking noise from engine I have taken it th the dealer they heard it but said they can figure out where it's coming from. The engine runs hotter than normal. The rods I think are the cause
