  • 2025 KIA TELLURIDE
    - Chattanooga, TN

My vehicle has 300 miles on it and I owned it for 5 days. I was driving when the front sunroof glass exploded and blew glass up and out of the vehicle. It scratched my roof, panoramic glass and multiple other panels. Kia of Chattanooga was very unprofessional when I brought this to their attention. The sales manager, Kevin Williams, told me my claim with Kia was denied before I had even reported a claim to Kia. When I asked him about this, he would not provide me with any information of who he spoke to within Kia and told me to report a fraudulent claim to my insurance stating an object hit my sunroof. Luckily, the car behind me that was peppered with glass and pulled over behind me had a GoPro video running and captured the entire incident. The video clearly shows the glass exploding up and out from inside my vehicle and then covers the entire front of his vehicle. Kia would not admit liability and said it’s impossible for the sunroof to break without anything hitting it. When I spoke to the general manager, he told me the same thing until I showed him the class action suit against Kia for this issue. At that point, he told me Kia is choosing to deny the claims and not admit any product defect and he seemed to know a lot of information for a topic he just previously said he had never heard of. Kia corporate has not made a decision but it is clear they are setting themselves up for denial. If denied, my next step is to file suit as I have over $6k in damages on a 5 day old vehicle with 300 miles on it. If anybody would like to see the video for their own claim, let me know.

    - Harrison, OH

I have called Kia multiple times about my 2020 Kia soul burning oil. The car is only 5 years old and should not be going through oil like it is. My car takes 5 quarts of oil. I do an oil change every 3,000 miles. When I drain the old oil it’s only at 2 quarts. The car burns 3 quarts of oil every 3,000 miles.

  • 2011 KIA SORENTO
    - Hillsboro, OR

The contact owned a 2011 Kia Sorento. The contact stated that, upon reaching her destination and turning the vehicle off, she smelled smoke in the interior of the vehicle. She then observed flames jutting up from underneath the driver's side seat, prompting her to evacuate immediately. Within minutes, the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames following what the contact described as an explosion. Local emergency services arrived and were able to extinguish the flames, later determining that faulty vehicle components caused the fire without human intervention. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and deemed a total loss by the contact's insurance provider. A fire report was filed. A police report was not filed, but injuries were reported. The contact suffered various minor burns to her hands but did not seek medical attention, choosing instead to attend to her injuries herself at home. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V652000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); the VIN was included, and parts were available. However, the contact stated that previous attempts to schedule the vehicle for repair had failed due to parts availability and a months-long waiting list. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and a third-party engineer was sent to examine the vehicle, but a final report had yet to be provided to the contact. The failure mileage was 223,000.

    - Milford , MA

My daughter was driving my car on [XXX] when suddenly there was a pop and the car stopped working. Honestly she could have been killed but by the grace of God nobody was behind or aside her and she was able to coast over to the breakdown lane. This could have been a very different story. An independent mechanic notated engine failure codes, a worn crank shaft which triggered a sensor to seize the engine or go into “limp mode” then heavy metal in the engine oil. Maintenance was performed and AAA unaccompanied towed the vehicle to Wagner Kia in Shrewsbury MA the next day after a storm passed. Wagner Kia then refused to service the vehicle or acknowledge any responsibility. I contacted Kia America and opened a claim and again they denied any responsibility closing out the claim within 48 hours although the company has had class action lawsuits against this make/model and year of car. This is truly a nightmare where the little man wallet takes a hit while being bullied by a large corrupt corporation. I then accepted an offer on the car for what it is worth in its current condition and took a loss of over $4,000.00 on an auto loan that I had to pay off the balance of and hundreds of dollars of repairs over the past few months. This vehicle also suddenly had an evaporation leak prior to the event which cost myself even more money. I do believe when you engine suddenly shuts off with no warning on a highway and could have killed everyone in the car that it should be reported and taken seriously by the manufacturer and dealership. Thank you for hearing our family’s story- INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

While driving my 2025 Kia Sorento on the highway, I noticed a coolant leak and an overheating warning. I immediately pulled over, and the vehicle was towed to a Kia dealership for inspection. After diagnosing the issue, the dealership claimed that small pebbles had damaged the radiator, leading to the coolant leak. They stated that this was considered an accident, not a defect, and therefore was not covered under warranty. Why This is a Concern: After researching online, I discovered that many other Kia owners are experiencing the same issue, suggesting that the radiator may be vulnerable to road debris due to poor design or insufficient protection. A radiator should be durable enough to withstand normal highway driving conditions. A failure like this could cause engine overheating and sudden breakdowns, posing a serious safety risk to drivers and passengers. Request for Investigation: Since this issue is affecting multiple Kia Sorento owners, I believe it should be investigated as a possible design flaw. If the radiator is too fragile to handle everyday road debris, Kia should issue a recall or Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) to address the defect and ensure driver safety.

    - Inver Grove Heights, MN

I am a owner of the Kia Optima 2013 and wish to fill a complaint with the dealership Luther Kia of Inver Grove for refusing to complete/resolve the safety recall of NHTSA #23V652. I attempted several times but was told by the staff, the remote start on my vehicle need to be removed and replaced in order for them to complete the safety recall. It would cost 200.00 to take it off and then, another 200.00 to reinstall it at the cost of myself. This seems like an unreasonable high cost to make sure my car is safe. I don't think is fair or right. This is a inconvenience for me! Please help!
