2016 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER Complaints

The fuel tank shield has rusted completely through exposing the tank to damage, puncture, etc. The reason this problem occurs is because of a process called galvanic corrosion. The fuel tank shield is bolted onto an aluminum heat shield, and the pairing of these two different metals accelerates the corrosion. Land Rover has acknowledged this problem and it’s given priority due to the fact that this is a safety issue being that these shields are also responsible for holding the tanks in place.

The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was concerned about driving the vehicle. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V514000 (Steering). The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted on three occasions, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000.

The fuel tank cradles have deteriorated exposing the fuel tanks, it is a known issue with these vehicles making the fuel tanks vulnerable to punctures and tears.

The contact owns a 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 MPH, the rear passenger’s side door opened unexpectedly. The contact immediately pulled over to manually close the door. The contact stated that the soft-touch door system failed, causing the contact to secure the doors with a tie. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer was informed of the issue and confirmed that there was a recall for the issue, but the recall had expired. The manufacturer referred the contact to the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 103,000.

Filing a complaint about lack of remedy for NHTSA Recall Number 25V-514, manufacture recall number D019. I planned to put this car on Turo to rent, and I cannot list it if it has an active recall. It’s a financial strain for me, and I would greatly appreciate a fix.

I am filing a complaint regarding an unresolved safety recall on my Land Rover vehicle that has remained unrepaired for over seven (7) months. The recall was issued in or around August 2025. Since that time, I have repeatedly attempted to have the recall repair completed through an authorized dealership, Jaguar Land Rover Buffalo. On March 6, 2026, at approximately 1:25 PM, I contacted the dealership at (716) 831-3100 and spoke with a service representative. I was informed they are still “waiting on instructions from Land Rover” and are unable to perform the recall repair. As of today, more than seven months have passed since the recall notice, and no repair, interim remedy, or timeline has been provided. The dealership has not offered: •A temporary repair or mitigation •A loaner or alternative transportation •Any estimated timeframe for resolution This delay appears unreasonable under federal safety recall requirements and leaves a known safety defect uncorrected.afety Risk: The vehicle continues to be operated with an unresolved safety defect, increasing the risk of malfunction, accident, or injury.

I am filing a complaint regarding an unresolved safety recall affecting my 2016 Range Rover Sport TDV6, VIN: [XXX] . This vehicle is subject to Recall D019 (NHTSA Recall 25V-514). Despite the recall being issued, I have contacted the dealership multiple times and have repeatedly been told that the remedy or required parts are not yet available. There has been no clear timeline provided for when the repair will be available. Both the front and rear components associated with this recall on my vehicle appear visibly defective and concerning. This creates a significant safety concern for me as the operator of the vehicle. I rely on this vehicle daily and should not be forced to continue driving a vehicle with known defective safety-related components while waiting indefinitely for the manufacturer to supply parts. A safety recall should include a prompt and effective remedy. I respectfully request that this matter be investigated and that the manufacturer be required to provide a timely repair remedy. The contact stated that while the vehicle was at an independent mechanic for an unrelated repair, the mechanic discovered that the underbody shield located underneath the vehicle to protect the fuel tank had deteriorated severely, exposing the fuel tank. The shield was the original part and functioned as a skid plate for the undercarriage; however, due to the corrosion, the fuel tank was no longer protected. The dealer was not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 103,000.

The contact was notified about NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V514000 (Steering); during a State Inspection. The local dealer was contacted and confirmed that parts were on backorder. The contact called two other dealers, Land Rover Dublin (5775 Venture Dr Ste B, Dublin, OH 43017), and Land Rover Easton (3867 Morse Rd Suite L, Columbus, OH 43219). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 163,000.

I am reporting a steering failure on my 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque vin# [XXX] . The electric power steering assists motor separated from the steering rack due to the retention bolts that were severely corroded and snapped. The failure occurred without any warning, lights, messages, or prior symptoms. The vehicle became undriveable and posed a serious safety risk due to the loss of steering. A LandRover dealer in Bedford, NH has confirmed that the retention bolts corroded and fractured, causing the steering gear motor to detach from the rack. The repair requires replacement of the entire steering gear assembly. I have written repair estimate confirming this diagnosis. There is an existing recall (N632) addressing steering rack bolt corrosion on similar vehicles, but my vin was excluded. However the failure mechanism in my vehicle to the condition described in that recall: bolt corrosion to steering separation. This vehicle was operated in Maine, a high road salt environment. The failure occurred without driver negligence and appears to be a materials/design issue rather than a maintenance - related. Given the catastrophic safety risk of sudden steering failure, I request that this issue be reviewed for expanded recall consideration.
