2011 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER SPORT Complaints

Spoiler may detach from the car while driving, creating the risk of a crash, as my spoiler is detached. The top of the spoiler and bottom portion of the spoiler has an open gap between the top and bottom portions of the spoiler. The bottom portion hangs and covers nearly half my rear view camera, obstructing my view when attempting to use the rear camera. The spoiler seems to have become much looser and bounces excessively while being driven. It does not feel safe to continue driving at this time, as I fear the spoiler will detach while in transit and cause harm to vehicles traveling behind my vehicle. My vehicle is currently at my local Land Rover for another recall at this time. Had it towed over.

The vehicle is leaking fuel close to the inside of the rear tire by the gas cap side. When I pump gas it doesn’t just drip, it’s pouring out the bottom of the vehicle and running down wires and parts of the car.

The contact owns a 2011 Land Rover Ranger Rover Sport. The contact stated that a fuel odor would emit from the vehicle without warning. The contact then received a recall notice for NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V635000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) which she linked to the failure. The contact then called several dealers about the recall and was informed by each dealer that parts were not yet available. As the failure worsened, the contact took the vehicle to Land Rover Troy (1815 Maplelawn Drive, Troy, MI 48084) where they confirmed that the fuel outlet flange mounted on the fuel tank had cracked. The contact was informed that since parts were not available, she had to pay out of pocket for a temporary replacement and that she might be reimbursed through the manufacturer for the repair. The manufacturer was notified but had not yet responded. The vehicle remained in the dealer possession for three weeks; however, no agreement was reached. The vehicle was returned to the contact and was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 146,000. Part distribution disconnect.

The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number 21V635000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, there was a fuel odor present inside the cabin of the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

At the beginning of the year my car started going into limp mode and shutting down. I had it inspected and the purge valve was faulty and I paid to have it replaced in august 2021. In the past month it’s started dying while driving, mostly as I’m pulling up to a stoplight. The engine will sputter and it will completely die while the car is in drive which means I loose controll of the steering wheel even while it’s still moving. I just had it inspected and it’s the same issue, the purge valve I’ve just replaced is stuck closed. So this will be the 3rd purge valve this car has had in a 4 month period. I’m afraid this is going to cause me to have an accident and it’s the same thing over and over so it sounds like it’s a faulty part.

SAFETY RECALL N623: Gasoline Fuel Tank Flange Assembly Cracking WHY is this recall not showing when I enter my VIN number here? Vehicle was towed back to house November 24th, 2021 after discovering it was leaking gas all over the Walmart parking lot. I have been smelling gas inside the vehicle and on the outside passenger side of the vehicle for almost 2 months! I saw no visible evidence to prompt concern until November 24th. When I called AAA to have the car towed they asked me to call 911 to clear the car from “risk of explosion” before it could be towed. I have been trying to call the Land Rover dealership to get my car in for this repair and they can’t get me in until the end of January!?! How is this acceptable!? I’ve been driving this car around like this for two months.. possibly longer.. with my TODDLER! And I’m being told by AAA, my mobile mechanic and this ‘Safety Recall Letter’ that the car is at risk of explosion!? I have the “Important Safety Recall” letter in my hands right now that outlines my exact issue and it literally says.. “there could be liquid fuel underneath the vehicle, which in the presence of an ignition source could lead to a fire.” This is unacceptable! I don’t have a vehicle now. I can’t work. Not working isn’t an option. Not having a reliable and safe vehicle I can count on isn’t an option. I can’t get my car in for the necessary repairs in a timely manner. I’m just stuck. There is no ideal time for this issue to arise but right before Christmas!? I can’t even think of the appropriate words to communicate the level of havoc and life f**kery this is causing. I’m literally here reporting this issue because of the letter I received and now I’m infuriated this recall isn’t even listed on y’all’s website. Who sends out an “Important Safety Recall” letter that casually mentions the car could catch on fire and then just doesn’t put the recall into full effect!? What’s my next step? Attorney. What’s y’all’s?

The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 MPH, there was a loud banging sound and noticed wires dangling from the rear of the vehicle. The contact eventually pulled over at a gas station and noticed that the rear spoiler had completely detached from the vehicle leaving only a few cameras and wires attached to the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that the spoiler needed to be replaced however, the vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 77,000.

The contact owns a 2011 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated while entering the vehicle, the contact smelled a strong odor of gasoline outside of the vehicle. The contact stated that the gasoline odor was also on the interior of the vehicle. The contact exited and inspected the vehicle and noticed gasoline leaking from underneath of vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2010 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the rear spoiler detached without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the rear spoiler was replaced. The contact stated the vehicle overheated and experienced engine failure. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V623000 (Structure). The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.
