2011 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER SPORT Complaints

The contact owns a 2011 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated after entering and starting the vehicle, the contact noticed a strong odor of gasoline coming from the interior of the vehicle. The contact exited the vehicle, inspected the vehicle but found no fuel leaks. Several days later the fuel odor was still evident. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed; however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer several weeks later for other repairs and the contact was informed that the fuel tank was cracked and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.

The contact owns a 2011 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, she heard a loud grinding noise and pounding sound on the vehicle. The contact looked out the rearview mirror and saw a large cord hanging from the vehicle. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and noticed that the rear spoiler from the top of the vehicle had detached along with the rear camera. The contact stated that there were also wires coming from under the vehicle. The contact drove the vehicle to the residence. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and the rear spoiler and rear camera were replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

The contact owns a 2011 Range Rover Sport. The contact stated that after coming to a complete stop, while depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle suddenly lunged forward. The failure occurred on several occasions. On one occasion the vehicle lunged forward approximately ten feet. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 108,000.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 20V623000 (STRUCTURE) HOWEVER, THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE VEHICLE HAD EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO REAR SPOILER UPPER COVER RETENTION SAFETY RECALL. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE SPOILER FELL OFF THE VEHICLE CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THE RECALL. THE REAR SPOILER FLEW OFF ON THE HIGHWAY AND HIT A VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENED IN OVERLAND PARK KS ON HIGHWAY 435.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE SPOILER DETACHING FROM THE CAR AS OF 11/20/2020 HOWEVER THIS HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE IN SEPT 2017 AND I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR AS THE DEALER REFUSED TO. AM I ELIGIBLE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THIS NOW.
