The joining of uncoated disparate metal surfaces leads to a hyper-corrosion event of the shield, which can cause fuel tank to drop onto roadway during normal driving, potentially resulting in a catastrophic accident. Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) North America continues to deny CRC goodwill claims for repair, replacement and/or reimbursement unless NHTSA is contacted first. Requesting NHTSA open an investigation into this safety issue, and further requesting JLR provide immediate TSB and extended warranty instructions to JLR Dealers on replacement of corroded fuel tank shields.
