2017 LEXUS ES Complaints

I have purchased two Lexus ES350s--a 2007 and a 2017. Both cars have been serviced at Lexus of Atlanta and both have had transmission failure. On August 28, 2025, after my car passed emissions and had just been serviced a month prior at the dealership, my car abruptly jumped and stalled, and the "Traction Control" message popped up. This was extremely scary as I was driving in Atlanta traffic. I immediately had it towed to Lexus of Atlanta. I received a call from my Service Advisor with whom I have worked for many years and he said it is my transmission and quoted me $10,000+. He also had zero empathy, could not tell me why my car all of the sudden "died" and essentially said, "these things happen and it is what it is." Those were actually his exact words. No one can explain why the transmission failed when I have had the car serviced routinely by the dealership from where the car was purchased. I just had the car serviced in July. I had no indication that the car was malfunctioning. I am unsure if the transmissions need to be recalled but this is a serious safety concern.

The automatic headlights are giving me issues and not wanting to come on and off properly along with the auto high beams

The police and paramedics were called to the scene and the other driver was taken to the hospital; the driver's whereabouts were unknown. The contact did not sustain any injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was initially towed to an impound yard and was then towed by his insurance to assess the vehicle's damage. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

The contact stated that while in reverse and slowly reversing into a parking space, the vehicle suddenly experienced unintended acceleration and crashed into a tree. The contact indicated that the unintended acceleration occurred while pressing the brake pedal and also the crash avoidance safety features did not activate. No injuries were reported and no police report was taken. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer and to a local body shop repair center. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 7,500.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IN VA AND I HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION AND I LATER FOUND OUT THE SUNROOF EXPLODED ON ITS OWN NO CARS AROUND, NO OVER PASS IT JUST EXPLODED INTO LITTLE PIECES.

WHEN STARTING VEHICLE THAT WAS STATIONARY AND DEPRESSED BREAKS TO SHIFT CAR FROM PARK INTO REVERSE. THE CAR STAYED IN NEUTRAL AND JUST ROLLED AS IF NO GEAR ENGAGED. THE ERROR ON THE SCREEN READ: 'TO START VEHICLE, PUT SHIFT LEVER INTO P'

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY HAVING JUST PICKED PICKED UP THIIS CAR I JUST BOUGHT FROM THE DEALERSHIP WHEN SUDDENLY I HEARD A LOUD EXPOLOSION UP ABOVE AND NOTICED MY SUNROOF EXPLODED SENDING PIECES OF GLASS INTO MY CAR. I WAS SCRATCHED AND HAD TO GET HOME 1/2 HOUR AWAY. DEALERSHIP WAS FAR. THE DEALERSHHIP SAID TO CALL THE INSURANCE. I THINK IT COULD BET THE WAY THE SUNROOF WAS PUT IN BUT NOT SURE.

REAR TINTED INSIDE THE GLASS WINDOW HAS BUBBLES AND SMEARED ADHESIVE ACROSS GLASS CAUSING IT HARD TO VIEW WHAT IS BEHIND ME. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW IT HAPPENS I BOUGHT THE CAR ON NOVEMBER 16, 2016. MOST OF THE TIME THE CAR IS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. I NOTICED IT THE FIRST TIME IN THE LAST WEEK OF FEBRUARY 24, 2020.
