The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH in traffic, he depressed the brake pedal for slowing traffic ahead however, the brake pedal became firm and failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the ABS and check brake lights were illuminated. THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO DON MOORE TOYOTA (4216 FREDERICA ST, OWENSBORO, KY 42301) AND KENNY KENT LEXUS (5600 DIVISION ST, EVANSVILLE, IN 47715) WHERE THE MECHANICS WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM WARNING MESSAGE RECENTLY APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO A LEXUS DEALER FOR ASSISTANCE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V619000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 220,000.
