2010 LEXUS ES- Middle River, MD
Purchased this car on [XXX] from Alpina Motors on Eastern Blvd in Maryland. In February took the car to Ron's Auto Repair, and he said that the brakes were metal on metal, so he replaced the Brakes and Rotors for $510. On [XXX] while driving on the Garden State Parkway with my [XXX] son the axle broke. Scaring me and my son because of losing control and not knowing what to do. Had to call my grandmother to get car towed and repaired at Scotts Auto in Carney's Point, NJ for $465. On 05/01/2025 I asked the dealer if he could he check my transmission fluid. He stated he couldn't because he didn't have a tool. On 05/02/2025 I took the car to Midas Auto Service on Eastern Ave in Balto. The tech stated this car needed Ignition Coil, Spark Plugs Brake pads and rotors for the front of the car. Bald tire in rear, other Axle, Engine & Transmission Mounts and Transmission filter and fluid. The technician at Midas stated that had the dealer inspected this car prior to selling, he would have known about the condition of the car. I paid Midas for the transmission filter and fluid. They suggested I return it to the dealer. When I did the dealer stated that he would replace other axle, replace Engine & trans. mount, rear brakes and rotors and 6 spark plugs for $1100. There is an active recall for my vehicle involving the passenger airbag potentially not deploying. This is a huge safety risk and the remedy is still not available. The active recall was first initiated in December of 2023.

I am writing to formally express my concern regarding ongoing issues with my vehicle following repairs performed at Crown Lexus in Ontario. In December 2024, I experienced rough idling, slow acceleration with vibration, fluctuating RPMs, and stalling. The check engine light turned on, and an error message instructed me to pull over and contact a local dealer due to engine/transmission trouble. I promptly brought the vehicle to Crown Lexus, where it was diagnosed with a faulty cylinder head requiring full replacement. The repairs were completed at that time. However, over the past four months, the same issues have reappeared. I returned the vehicle to Crown Lexus, where I was told no problems were found and the car was safe to drive. Unfortunately, just two days later, the issues persisted, and I am now bringing the vehicle back in for a third time with the same engine/transmission symptoms. Given the recurrence of these serious issues and the prior repairs conducted, I kindly request a thorough diagnostic review and a resolution to ensure the vehicle is safe and functioning properly. I would also appreciate documentation of all findings and repairs. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to a prompt and effective resolutio

When driving the car the steering column felt loose and when going over a railroad track or bump the steering column would jiggle. The car steering felt unsafe. Took it to the Lexus dealer in Austin Texas four or five times and they said they could not find a problem. This a a known issue on several models of Toyotas and Lexus vehicles since the early 2000’s. Toyotas/lexus continued to be manufactured with a faulty steering bussing. Because the car felt unsafe I took it to an authorized mechanic and they took the steering column apart and replaced a flawed steering bearing. The labor was $741 to disassemble and reassemble the steering column. The steering is fine now. I am so disappointed that this flaw with the steering bussing is known and not covered by Toyota/Lexus. Other models with the same problem have been recalled!

My 2023 Lexus RZ450e experienced a sudden failure of the 12-volt battery, which completely disabled the vehicle and prevented it from starting. The battery failed while the car was plugged into a Level 2 home charger, but not in ‘Ready’ mode. There were no warning signs or alerts, and I had to call roadside assistance to jump-start the car. After the incident, I brought the vehicle to the dealership. They tested the 12V battery and said it was “fine.” However, during the 100,000-mile maintenance, I specifically requested a battery re-check—and this time, the battery failed the test. This raises serious concerns about the reliability and longevity of the 12V battery in this vehicle, as well as the inconsistent diagnostics at the dealership. If the vehicle had failed to start while I was away from home, I could have been stranded in unsafe conditions. Safety Concerns: The 12-volt battery powers essential systems, including door locks, ignition, and electronic control units. Its failure disables the entire vehicle. The fact that this happened while the car was plugged in, but not in “Ready” mode, suggests a potential design flaw or charging system issue. I’ve also seen reports from other RZ450e owners experiencing similar 12V problems, which may point to a broader systemic issue. Requested Action: Please investigate potential defects in the 12-volt battery system and whether the Lexus RZ450e’s charging system fails to maintain battery health during regular use.

2020 LEXUS NX- Gilroy, CA
Two (2) times (6-weeks apart) while on Freeway, loss of power and some shaking occurred, making it difficult to bring vehicle to a safe stop. Vehicle has only 80k miles, low for a Lexus brand. Other cars moving at freeway speeds made it more dangerous to stop vehicle safely without getting hit. Failure in both circumstances was related to fuel injectors, cylinder no. 4 at first then second failure six weeks later was on cylinder no. 2, the fuel pump appears to be a known problem on these cars and many Toyota/Lexus models. Low fuel pressure is stressing the injectors to the point of ultimate failure. My wife and kids nearly crashed on the freeway on the first incident, the vehicle with reduced power makes it difficult to control at freeway speeds. Vehicle is well maintained, no warnings were evident, immediate failure occurred. Dealer where vehicle was purchased indicated no alerts/bulletins were evident, repair shop (not dealer) also indicated no bulletins were evident on the first incident. Second failure, another local Lexus dealer indicated no alerts/bulletins where evident of any problems associated with the failure. When escalating issue to OEM/LEXUS Brand Engagement Center, they were able to confirm (they were able to read the failure code when the repair shop connected to the vehicle) the failure mode symptoms was associated with a fuel pump alert. Why both Lexus dealers did not know this is odd. My vehicle has been at the dealer now for over 30 days with no feedback from Lexus on the repair. This failure condition at freeway speeds is a "Safety" risks, Lexus should take this seriously, the fuel pump and weakened injectors should be recalled before someone gets hurt. Please help NHTSA!

2024 LEXUS TX- Hayward, CA
I was driving on a highway around 65mph, about 1:30PM on May 11, 2025. The temperature outside was about 70 degree F. I heard a very loud noise like a big firecracker exploding. Then I heard the sound of air coming from the sun roof. I opened the sun roof door and found the sun roof was shattered and had a big hole more than a foot in diameter. If I didn't close the sun roof door, I could had been injured by the exploding tempered glasses from the sun roof and lose control of my SUV. I drove to the Lexus dealership and leave my car there overnight since the service department was closed on Sunday. The Lexus service advisor will call me in the morning. I googled the topic about "Lexus sun roof exploding while driving" and found many Lexus car owners had the same problem as mine. Toyota Motors already knew about this issue since 2012 and they refused to fix the issue free of charge for Lexus car owners since they said that the car warranty doesn't covered the sun roof. I believe Toyota Motors is a irresponsible car company. If this issue is not fixed, I believe some Lexus owners might get hurt when their cars' sun roof explode while driving. Toyota Motors should fix the problem free of charge for their customers because this is a defective tempered glass sun roof.

I have contacted the Lexus dealership in Chattanooga, TN for the last two years and have been told that they did not have the parts to replace in my car. It shouldn't take two years to fix a recalled part. It's annoying and very frustrating.

I was in a vehicle accident on March 30. A accident that could have been avoided if the horn on the IS350 2021 was louder. The vehicle that collided into my vehicle was a Dodge Ram that was hauling a travel trailer which was what hit me. I tried honking various times to let the driver know that I was present and that they were merging onto my lane and I believe due to the weak sound of the horns installed in these vehicles the driver of the other car did not hear my warnings and collided into me.
