After removing the third row seating mechanism, it was noticed that significant rust has occured at the forward mounting point for the hinge device around the welds and heat affected zone of the mounting bracket. No rust was visible from the wheel well due to the textured undercoating until the undercoating was removed. Rust had penetrated through the body and seat mount, resulting in a potentially unsafe condition for third row passengers. Recommend owners have this area checked on a regular basis to prevent safety concerns and remediate corrosion as necessary.

I am writing to formally express my deep concern and frustration regarding the prolonged recall of the passenger-side airbag in my 2020 Lexus ES350 (VIN #[XXX]). The recall numbers are (23LA03, 23LB03 and 23V865) these were issued in December of 2023, which has been more than a year. Lexus has provided a rental car for all this time, which demonstrates this recall is a safety issue. Despite repeated inquiries, to Lexus and Toyota leadership there has been no resolution or clear timeline for repair. This extended delay in addressing a critical safety issue is unacceptable. Airbags are a vital component of vehicle safety; I will not drive my car with a passenger in the front seat. and the continued inability to resolve this problem places both passengers and drivers at unnecessary risk. As a responsible vehicle owner, I find it deeply troubling that there has been no sense of urgency from Lexus or the involved regulatory bodies to ensure a prompt resolution. I urge the NHTSA to take immediate action in investigating this matter and compelling Lexus to provide a definitive solution to this prolonged recall. It is imperative that vehicle manufacturers are held accountable for addressing serious safety concerns within a reasonable timeframe. Additionally, I request that the NHTSA provide any available information on what steps are being taken to expedite these repairs and ensure consumer safety. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. I look forward to your prompt response and any assistance you can provide in resolving this ongoing safety issue. My son and I were almost killed the other day because the engine of my 1 year old car failed. We were in the middle of 6 lanes of rushing highway traffic when the car stopped accelerating and came to a dead stop. I had just had the car serviced 10 days before and didn't feel, hear or see anything hit my car. The message on my dashboard said "go to the dealer" when it should have said "pull over immediately, turn off your car and call for help". The dealership told me that a rock must have gone through the grill and punctured my radiator. They explained that radiators used to be made of copper and now are made of aluminum and are very fragile. They also said that the spaces in the grill should be smaller so it's not so easy for rocks or debris to get to the radiator. I asked if this was a common occurrence and they told me they've seen it 3 times in 2 years just at this one dealership. I feel the design of the grill is a safety hazard and warrants a recall. I'm afraid someone else won't be as lucky as me. We could have easily been killed or caused a massive car pile up on that highway that resulted in many people being injured. It was terrifying. I called manufacturer's customer service department to share this and asked that the error message be changed. They referred me to you regarding the design flaw of the grill.
