There’s something wrong in the electrical system. In order to start the car, it requires boosting the battery only. Boosting under the hood doesn’t work with the lithium power packs charged 100%. After signing the financial documents the day I test drove it, I couldn’t drive it home if I wanted to. The car wouldn’t start. I don’t know how the dealer got it started but I have been intermittently boosting it to start. This happens whether the car sits a day or more. The last frequent boost was 3/17/2025. Another thing, the car can be in driver assistance with lane tracking and the lane tracking will shut off automatically. Also, when the lens of the cameras on the car gets wet, the cameras don’t work. They become foggy blank.

My transmission seems to do a JERK when I press the break. It is like it is struggling to shift down and it jerks me forward. It happens when I am stopped behind other cars. It makes me very nervous In the car line sometimes it jerks so hard I am afraid it is going to hit another car or even a child if they get too close and my foot is on the break and it just pops up unexpectedly! There are MANY people taking their cars in to Lexus service for this "transmission jerk" as consumers are calling it. My lexus service dept has been able to reproduce it in my car. They also noticed the jerk when we drove with them twice and did resets to try to solve the problem. It did not solve the problem. At our last appointment they told me it was normal and theres nothing they would do. My Notes- November 2024 - purchased vehicle. The drive was perfect for many miles and months! Nothing out of the ordinary. January - I stopped at a stop light with my daughter and it did the "jerk" -- My [XXX] noticed it too! She said "What was that Mommy!" She thought we hit something! Kept doing it for a couple weeks. Feb 17 - Took car in - technician didn’t notice any jerking. I asked if I could ride with technician. Feb 18 - rode with technician. Quickly noticed jerk and said he has had a few people bring it in for this concern.. did a reset. [XXX] - the jerking began again - very noticeable. Feb 21 - dropped off at dealer again. March 3 - picked car up - they said they couldn't reproduce - Josh rode with service manager and very noticeable jerking when shifting down.. seems worse than before.. said he will speak to some other person and see what to do. They reset again. We took car home. [XXX] - drove pretty regularly.. very very noticeable jerking when shifting down. Worse than before. March 10 - Took back to dealership.. got a loaner March 17 - Said they reproduced the jerk but it was normal and there was nothing they would do to help! Put key into ignition port and heard and felt a klunk. Key was then freely moving and connecting to nothing inside the ignition chamber. So vehicle would not turn over at all. Had towed to town closer to home. And Currently having towed to mechanic shop for further evaluation. The only symptom the car was having previously was a mysterious scratching sound coming from what sounded like the right side of the hood near the firewall. Took to mechanic and he drove the car and heard the sound but could not pin point it, said nothing was scrubbing the fan or anything else he could see. And to bring it back if it got worse. Never did we think it was the starter nor the ignition chamber. The only way to know now....is to replace it and see if that noise is still there. There were no other warnings. The danger in this is being stranded. Still needs to be evaluated by mechanic.

From what I have been reading on that year and model, there seems to be major issues with the invertors. Like many I was driving on the highway and the vehicle just quits. This put me and many others in a very dangerous situation and I could have been hit at high rates of speed. If as many people are having these issues, then Lexus needs to step up and recall this part before someone gets killed

The vehicle would not start. It is a known problem with this PHEV that if car is not used for a couple of days the 12v battery becomes depleted and the car cannot be started and all systems of the car are dead.

    1) Electrical malfunction with warning of locking malfunction transiently appearing 2) Locked inside the car and the manual door release would not work after the above. 3) Finally got out after using key fob and multiple attempts to use the door handle, closed the door, and the car locked and could not open it with either the key fob, Lexus application, nor with the emergency physical key (it would turn but not unlock the door). 4) After 1st malfunction, had a smell of burned electrical component but NO smoke or fire. The hybrid system was fully charged however, it is probable that after speaking to Lexus while inside the car with the ignition on to trouble shoot a charging scheduling issue, the 12 volt battery was partially discharged. The car has 441 miles and after Lexus service arrived, they were able to get it drivable HOWEVER, check engine light remained on and "system malfunction...visit your dealer" was also on the entire 7 mile trip to the dealer with the tow truck following me all the way. I kept the window open despite the rain so that I could get out if something else happened.
