I pulled onto a 4 lane divided highway and the car immediately went into limp mode, meaning the car would not go more than 1 MPH even with the gas pedal to the floor. I could NOT accelerate thus my safety was in danger, and I was almost hit by a tractor trailer truck. I pulled over to the side of road as best I could, then shut the engine off and restarted the engine. This apparently re-set some sort of engine control and then the car accelerated normally. The dealer applied an ECU update #24LC03. When I researched this update, it was stated that this was not an actual recall, I wondered how that could that be since I was nearly involved in a fatal accident, and surely there are other similar Lexus owners at the same risk . that I was. The wording of the update described exactly what happened to me. In my opinion this information is too important to shoved under the rug and not made into an actual recall. A life could be saved. The Brake Booster and Brake Booster Pump Assembly Malfunctioned Dec. 25th 2022 on Christmas day a month after the deadline for a Customer Support Program Notification ( Primary coverage til. Nov. 30,2022. Secondary Coverage 10 years or 150k whichever comes first from the date of 1st use-08/16/2011.) I called Toyota to inform them and get them to solve this issue. Toyota/Lexus Refuses to pay to fix this huge safety issue. The estimate for this is $4,000-$5,000 dollars. When this went out all the lights came on in my car including: Master Warning Light, Brake System Warning Light, ABS Warning Light, and the Slip Indicator Light. There is a pumping sound like a barking from a dog. The car is solely relying on the other brakes to slow the car down. After the Brake Booster went out I was driving on the highway and tried to stop in time for a curved exit. The stop was too much for these brakes alone the car started shaking and spun out of control. Luckily I was able to pull aside without hitting other vehicles or the median. It scared me so much. This is a known problem that they refuse to fix and pay for. This component has been inspected by a local car shop. This is my only car. I drive it only when necessary. I try to avoid highways and fast speeds because i know that these brakes are not sufficient for a safe stop. Even at speeds of 35 mph of less the car shakes when breaking. I think Toyota should fix this issue and pay for it indefinitely. The part they created is obviously faulty. It doesn't matter if it is 5 yrs, 10 yrs or 20 yrs. Its a fault on their part that is a huge safety issue and expense on their customers when they are company that prides themselves on safety and longevity with their vehicles. I am saving to replace this issue and or get another vehicle. In the meantime this unsafe vehicle will be on our roads occasionally.

I am writing to raise a serious concern regarding a issue with my 2018 Lexus RX450hL involving the brake actuator. Since purchasing the vehicle at 63,000 miles, I have noticed hissing, clicking, and squeaking noises when applying the brakes. As the mileage increased to 83,000, these noises have worsened, becoming unbearable. In addition, I am experiencing a shaky driver-side mirror and a rusting hood latch, both of which present safety concerns. For a vehicle under 5 years old , I believe these problems do not reflect the quality I expected, particularly given the premium price I paid. According to Lexus' Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) #L-SB-0032-23 Rev, issued in October 2023, which addresses squawk or knock noises from the engine compartment when the brake pedal is pressed or released, affecting models like the RX450hL. My vehicle exhibits symptoms similar to those described in the TSB. The vehicle was regularly maintained by the previous owner at Lexus of Thousand Oaks and Woodland Hills. Despite this, the major part like brake actuator has failed prematurely. Given Lexus' reputation as a luxury brand, it is unacceptable that such a critical component would fail before the vehicle is 5 years old or has reached 100,000 miles. The combination of the brake actuator defect, the shaky mirror, and the rusting hood latch is disappointing, especially for a vehicle of this caliber. When I initially contacted Lexus Customer Service, I was also dealing with rusting parts and a failing brake booster. Lexus of Cerritos provided a repair estimate of around $5,000 for brake actuator. I was advised to reach out to Lexus Customer Service after my request for a good faith repair was denied due to the inability to obtain the complete maintenance history. However, I have since confirmed with the previous owner and Lexus that the vehicle was regularly serviced. I am also aware that Lexus has issued brake actuator-related recalls for several models.

The brake actuator is a well known failure component with these cars and yet no recall has been issued. It's almost $4,000 to repair this defective component.

The low fuel gauge does not come on until there is only 18 miles left. I brought my auto into the Lexus dealer in Fall 2022 because up until that point the low mileage gauge came on around 40 miles. I was told that the low fuel gauge changes from year to year. Really! It is dangerously to find a gas station with only 18 miles. This makes no sense to me. I have been driving the same model Lexus for 6 years and prior to this the low fuel gauge came on around 40 miles. The Lexus manual says that the gas tank is 19.2 gallons but when I fill up the tank when it says 18 miles are left, I only can add 15.5 gallons. I just heard a similar complaint with the new Highlanders.

I bought a 2019 Lexus ES350 F Sport in October 2023 with 41,000 miles. Almost a year later to the day I went to a touchless car wash and now have excessive condensation in both headlights. Lexus shows these lights at $2500 a piece, plus labor to install. With modest investigating for a remedy I see I’m not alone in this predicament. Due to high cost of replacement I believe this warrants looking into whether it should be a recall or at least a safety bulletin as moisture in an electric environment will quickly become a major issue.

2015 Lexus RX450H with less than 60,000 miles Electronic Power Steering Motor needs repair or replacement. The Electronic Steering Motor has an internal 3 piece star-shaped green plastic gear in between two metal pieces used as a bushing/damper. That green plastic gear has become dry, hard, dehydrated, and has crumbled inside the electronic power steering motor. Diagnostic indicators include rattling and vibrations emanating from the steering column that sounds like something is broken inside the steering assembly. Which it apparently is. Moreover, I am particularly concerned about the implications of this denial. The faulty component in the electronic power steering system poses a significant risk, including the potential for complete loss of steering control. This not only jeopardizes my safety but could also lead to further damage to my vehicle or even bodily injury. Given these circumstances, I believe it is imperative that this matter be addressed with urgency.

Driving on freeway, sudden blowout causing loss of braking ability. Barely managed to pull to shoulder sidewall completely shredded.

Windshield wipers leave approx. 3 inches on drivers side and large area on passenger's side not reached. In cold this could cause visibility problem due to ice or snow. In warm rainy weather it depends on how hard it's raining but this seems to be a safety concern. This has been a complaint by others but no recall to fix the problem.

Mileage 3445, vehicle age 3.5 months. Car located in home garage with doors unlocked. Car Locked itself making entry impossible. All systems refused to open with “clicker” or mechanical key. Possibly battery issue. Four (4) different tow truck drivers over 4 days could not gain entry. Safety hazard as a child or disabled person could have been locked inside. Tow driver could not “pop” the door lock. Despite pulling up on the inside handle, the door would not open. Towed to dealer. Thus far dealer has no solution. Dealer said they are contacting Lexus. No warning lights, etc. Vehicle is a plug-in hybrid. Drive Battery was at 100%.
