2017 LINCOLN MKX- Groton, CT
I received a recalled noticed regarding a potential brake(s) failure. Currently the manufacture does not have sufficient parts and does not provide any ETA on when parts do become available. In the light of the situation, I would rather filed a complaint than risking my life or the lives of others due to the manufacture unable to provide the need parts to resolved this serious issue. I am taking proactive steps to protect myself before I find myself in the worst case scenario.

My back up camera fails the majority of the time. When in reverse it will say camera not available, or it will just go black. And every once in a while it will actually work. I have goiter used to using the camera to check for cars and children behind me. It is hard to see things behind me when I just look out the back window. Yes had a ford dealer look over it and they told me it would be very expensive to have fixed and that they see this problem often on the MKZ. No warning. It just started working intermittently.

2017 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR- Heath, OH
The throttle body went bad while driving 55mph and 35mph. Over 5 times I could not accelerate while stepping on the gas peddle and it would stall out trying to get it to ford on the same road for 5 miles. I had to quickly stop and turn it back on with my flashers going less than 35mp on a 55mph road. This happened at first going around a corner you can not stop on due to no visual on the other side which would cause a wreck stopping there. The problem was confirmed by Coughlin of Heath Ford and they were the ones that fixed it. There was no warning of the throttle body going bad until it happened at that moment and repeated to happen as I tried to get it to ford on the same road it was happening on into town. The check engine light did come on but it it would go on and off during the situation until it finally stayed on after a few minutes. There is a photo of the report attached to this document.

I got out of work and went to start my car. At first it did not want to start, and it acted like the alarm system had an issue. I locked my car, then unlocked it with the key fob, and when it started, it ran rough and was smoking out of the exhaust. I turned it off and quickly checked the fluids. I noticed the antifreeze was low, and since I always carry fluids in the car, I filled up the reservoir and then tried to restart my car. It did the same thing, not wanting to start until I locked and unlocked with the key fob. I drove home, but the check engine light was on the entire time. The following morning, I started my car and it was blowing white smoke out of the exhaust. I turned it off and contacted a local auto repair shop. It had to be towed to the shop so as to not cause damage. The auto shop said it was the head gaskets and since there was a known problem with the coolant leaking, I would have to get a whole new (used) engine. The total would be over $8000. I called another repair shop to see if they would be willing to replace the head gaskets, and after they agreed, I had it towed to their shop. After diagnostics, (no negligence on my part) this shop also refused to just replace the gasket citing an ongoing class action lawsuit due to a known head failure, and the repair with a new engine would be over $9000. I had purchased an extended warranty (power train) when I purchased this vehicle, and it included seals and gaskets...so I thought I was covered for this problem. The warranty company refused to cover it since it was a head problem. I still have 2 years of payments left on this vehicle.

2019 LINCOLN MKC- EAST PEORIA, IL
My car has been in and out of the shop since I purchased it, while still under the company’s warranty. I have went months without my vehicle at times. I feel these issues were directly related to a known engine failure/faulty engine by the manufacturer. My car was in a shop for nearly two months due to a rough idle without any diagnosis because it wasn’t producing a code. I brought the vehicle back in around a month later due to the same rough idle and was told the vehicle needed a new purge valve. Currently, my vehicle is at a Ford dealership waiting for a new engine to be installed. My vehicle was misfiring at start up, but my check engine light never illuminated. My coolant reservoir was completely empty. I found out that coolant was leaking into the engine compartment. I have been without my vehicle for a month now. At minimum Ford/Lincoln should be reimbursing the cost of my replacement engine since this is a known issue. Overall, I feel this should fall under a recall. I have a two year old daughter and driving this vehicle was a safety risk. Had I known about these issues I would not have purchased the vehicle. Ford/Lincoln failed to disclose that these vehicles have a defect that causes coolant to leak into the engine’s cylinders, which can cause corrosion, oil dilution and contamination, and engine failure. Ford/Lincoln failed to disclose these defects create a safety risk, because the lack of coolant created by the leaks causes overheating and can result in the cylinder head cracking, total engine failure, and/or engine fires.

Backup camera will be upside down at times and this seems to happen when you really need the help of the camera. I have had the check with your dealership come up when it doesn't work at all and they didn't have any answers for me. I see there are several vehicles out there that are having the same problem and there is a recall on them. I would appreciate your help with this. I haven't had any accident with this but would really like to have this fixed. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

2013 LINCOLN MKS- Lincoln, NE
Water pump failure or malfunctioned causing the engine to over heat and then to engine stall going 75 mph. After having it towed it was determined the water pump was leaking. It put myself and others at risk of an accident. The water pump sits directly in the center of the engine so it can’t be inspected so easily and only option is to just replace. The water pump was confirmed by a licensed Lincoln Certified Dealer and failed at 69,639 miles. Many others have reported having this same issue. There was a warning signal that flashed as the engine reach an overheating temp, but there were none prior the incident .

The electronic parking brake engages on its own and locks causing the rear tire to lock while driving which then causes friction and the tire to smoke heavily which could cause fire or bad accident. I have replaced caliper, caliper actuator, rotor, brake pad, wheel speed sensor, wheel bearing and nothing has fixed the issue

The issue is the back up camera works correctly sporadically. Often times the screen is blank or says to contact the dealer. I took it to the Ford dealer and said to fix the issue the camera would have to be replaced.
