2026 MAZDA CX-30 Complaints

I am reporting a severe electrical fire and system failure hazard resulting from unauthorized, dealership-installed aftermarket wiring modifications on a brand new 2026 Mazda CX-30. ?At the point of sale, Walker's Renton Mazda ([XXX]) spliced invasive, unauthorized aftermarket tracking/security wiring (suspected LoJack or similar) directly into the factory CAN-bus and main wiring harnesses. These modifications were done without consent, actively concealed during the pre-purchase inspection, and compromise the integrity of the vehicle's primary electrical architecture. ?Specifically, the physical installation bypassed standard safety protocols and compromised the vehicle's firewall insulation. As a military electromechanical engineering veteran, I recognize that unauthorized taps into a modern vehicle's high-speed data network and main power lines introduce immense risk of short circuits, signal logic failure, parasitic draw, and most critically, catastrophic electrical fires. ?Despite providing physical evidence of the tampered wiring, the dealership's management has denied the modifications exist and refused to remediate the safety hazard by unwinding the compromised vehicle. Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) has also refused to intervene under Case #XXX. The vehicle remains in my custody, but it is fundamentally compromised and unsafe due to the dealer's tampering with factory safety and electrical standards. I am requesting NHTSA investigate this dealership's practice of covertly installing unregulated electronics into new factory wiring harnesses, as it presents an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety. The high beams would turn on by themselves, and no matter what I did, they wouldn't turn off. Each time the high beams turned on, I would have to fiddle with the control stick for a few minutes until the high beams turned off. Sometimes they would turn off for a second and then just turn back on. This is dangerous as it can blind other drivers. This has happened ever since I bought the car a few month ago. On August 11th the control stick broke off while I was trying to turn off the high beams. Now I have no control over the turn signals or the lights. I brought it to the dealer, but they refused to repair it for free. This is a brand new car which is under warranty.

I was driving my 2026 Mazda CX-30 in a parking lot and was pulling into a parking space at a very low speed. I lightly pressed the accelerator to move the car forward, but the car suddenly surged forward much faster than I intended or expected based on how lightly I had pressed the pedal. The sudden acceleration resulted in a collision and property damage. There were no warning lights, warning messages, or other dashboard alerts before or at the time of the incident. I do not know what specifically caused the car to accelerate this way. I am concerned that there may have been an issue with the accelerator/throttle response, engine controls, transmission, PCM, or another part of the powertrain. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by Mazda or an independent engineer specifically for this issue, so the cause has not been determined. It is currently as a collision center. Before the accident, I had also noticed that the vehicle's acceleration and pickup sometimes did not feel normal, although there were no warning lights or messages indicating a problem. I am reporting this because the car's unexpected acceleration at such a low speed created a serious safety concern. I would like the incident and vehicle to be investigated to determine whether a defect or malfunction contributed to the sudden acceleration. The vehicle is available for inspection.
