I have a 2024 Mazda CX-90. I want to report that about two years ago I was contacted regarding a recall (or possibly multiple recalls). The steering would become stiff while turning on curves. I took the vehicle to the dealer, and they reprogrammed something, which fixed the issue for a few months (I don’t remember exactly how long). However, the same problem happened again about three times. I brought the vehicle back to the dealer on January 23, 2026, and they did not have the necessary parts to repair it. I told them I was very afraid to drive the vehicle in that condition because the steering would get stuck when turning on curves, and I was worried that one day it could cause a serious or even fatal accident. The dealer told me they could not do anything at that time. It took 65 days for them to replace the parts, and it was very stressful driving under those conditions. Even after the repair, the vehicle does not feel right. I feel that the steering still moves abnormally, and I am very afraid to drive it like this. Additionally, the brakes sometimes make a strange noise. I don’t know what to do about this situation. I would like to return the vehicle, but I don’t know how, especially since the dealer is no longer responsible. I need help. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired, but the contact was informed of a steering investigation. On another occasion, the contact stated that when the vehicle was stopped and the ON/OFF feature was activated. There was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated that after turning off and restarting the vehicle, and after refueling the vehicle, the messages "Engine Malfunction – Inspect Vehicle" and "Hybrid System Malfunction" was displayed. While my wife was driving my 2024 Mazda CX90 gas turbo at the posted speed limit, this vehicle suddenly without warning the car lost most of its power. She was able to move the vehicle to safety by pushing the gas pedal to the floor and achieved a maximum speed of 10 mph. The car was towed to the dealer Koch 33 of Easton, PA. The dealer diagnosed the problem as a throttle body issue. This is the second incident whereby this vehicle lost power in a similar manner but for a different reason (fuel pump) and had to be towed to the same dealer. I filed a complaint with your agency about 18 months ago. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Intermittent and brief increases in steering effort (described as “sticky steering”) while driving. I could also describe as "grabby" steering that causes me to have to grab the steering wheel tightly with both hands to prevent loss of control.

Since taking delivery of this vehicle in June 2024 from Kenny Ross Mazda, I have experienced a persistent and unresolved error message on the vehicle’s display screen relating to “Multiple ECUs Reprogramming.” This error message first appeared within the first twelve (12) months of ownership and has remained continuously present on the vehicle’s instrument cluster/infotainment screen despite numerous repair attempts. The defect substantially impairs the use, value, and safety of the vehicle, as it creates constant uncertainty about the operational status of critical electronic control systems, diminishes the vehicle’s resale value, and interferes with my normal use and enjoyment of the vehicle. Photographic evidence of this error message is attached as Enclosures 2 through 5. I have brought the vehicle to Rohrich Mazda, an authorized Mazda dealership and service facility located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on at least seven (7) separate occasions over the past twelve (12) or more months in an effort to resolve this defect. Each time, the dealership has been unable to eliminate the error message. During the course of these repair attempts, the dealership initially believed the issue was related to a recall (Safety Recall 7024J — Multiple ECU’s Programming), but subsequent repair attempts have failed to resolve the condition. The dealership has contacted Mazda Corporate technical support on multiple occasions, and Mazda Corporate has been unable to provide a solution. As of this writing, the dealership and Mazda Corporate have acknowledged that they do not currently have a fix for this problem. The service ticket remains open.

The steering wheel becomes sticky when turning at highway speeds and around 30 MPH. This problem happens consistently when turning at certain speed. Lot of extra effort needs to be applied to bring the sticky steering wheel back to the original position. This extra effort makes the turning very dangerous as the sticky steering wheel doesn't smoothly reverts back to normal position. Any extra effort applied to bring the steering back to the normal position results in a jerky, sudden, and rash movement of the vehicle. Without the conscious application of this unnatural and abnormal extra effort, the vehicle is more prone to accidents during turning particularly at highway speed. Contacted the nearest local dealer. Local dealer outright refuses to diagnose the problem without charging the fee even though car is well under warranty. Please take action so that this safety issue can be corrected. Also, Mazda needs to improve customer service by informing the dealer(s) not to refuse a basic safety related diagnostic unless a hefty diagnostic fee is paid by the the owner of the new vehicle.

My vehicle has already had recall remedy for 24V-022, still experiencing "notchy" steering (momentary increase in steering effort). Mid corner the steering wheel locks into place, I can let my hands off the wheel and the steering wheel maintains the steering angle, I have to forcibly move it out of the lock to either increase or decrease turning radius. This is a recurring issue every time I drive the vehicle.
