2024 MAZDA CX-90 Complaints

Incident 1: While driving my 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV at low-to-moderate speed, the vehicle suddenly and completely locked up without any driver input. There was no gradual slowing or normal braking behavior. Instead, the vehicle went immediately from moving to an abrupt, forceful stop, as if maximum braking was applied instantly. There were no warning lights, alerts, or audible signals before or during the event, and there were no obstacles or vehicles in front of me. Incident 2 (approximately 6 months later): A second, nearly identical event occurred while I was accelerating or cruising. The vehicle again immediately locked up and came to a sudden stop with no warning and no driver input. There was no progressive braking or deceleration. The stop was instantaneous and extremely forceful, causing me to lurch forward into the steering wheel. There were no hazards or objects present that would justify emergency braking. Additional Details: Both events involved an immediate, full-force stop with no transition or gradual braking. There were no dashboard alerts, warning sounds, or messages during either incident. The behavior did not match any known system alerts (such as door open or limp mode). The dealership was unable to reproduce the issue and found no diagnostic trouble codes. This creates a serious safety risk, especially the risk of being rear-ended during normal driving.

Continuously experiencing sticky steering when making turns and curves/bends on the road. Have to use a lot more force to get the steering wheel back to the initial position or a safe position.

While driving the 2024 Mazda CX-90 and making turns the steering wheel become difficult to straighten/reduce deflection from the turned position. This has caused the vehicle to depart from our lane in traffic on the freeway multiple times. This has caused safety risk for ourselves with traffic barriers as well as with vehicles in other lanes. It is possible to over power the “sticking point” however it seems to be getting worse. A mazda service center has been contacted and they denied that they are required to remedy this because they already completed the recall for this issue in the past. The vehicle is available for inspection. The issues seems to be somewhere in the steering linkage or steering wheel mechanism based on the feel of the issues.

My 2024 Mazda CX-90 has the STICKY WHEEL condition however it does not show-up as REcall for my VIN.

Experiencing sticky steering and sudden increased steering effort. Previously addressed by recall 6524A.

The vehicle caught fire while in operation/driving and later engulfed entie cabin. No warning lamps, in-vehicle alerts, or other warning signs were activated or displayed. Car has not yet been inspected.

steering gets stuck or requires intense effort to move from center, specially on freeway or slight turns. feels dangerous specially when being on the freeway. took it to get looked at & they want me to pay for a repair that is listed on other cars that were recalled.

I have taken my car to service in January, and it has had all the recalls fixes done, supposedly. Just the last two weeks I have been feeling a notchy sensation when steering, it resists and then jumps to the next notch when turning. Not a smooth feeling as it did during the first year of usage.

Started the car to go to work and the check engine light came on, I stop started flashing and wouldn’t turn off. Message says there is a malfunction with the hybrid system and to visit Mazda dealer. I had to drive it to work, so it drove fine. But the lights never went off.

Description of the issue: While driving, the steering wheel suddenly develops a significantly increased resistance. This resistance can only be overcome by applying noticeably higher force. The steering feels as if it is “sticking” or momentarily binding. Driving conditions where the issue occurs: - Frequently on highways - Also on rural roads - Occurs both while cornering and while driving straight ahead
