2024 MAZDA CX-90 Complaints

While driving (less than 2000 miles on the OD) in our 2024 cx90 SE the vehicle started to shift out of timing and everything shut off at once. The vehicle lost all power and all parts shut down. The vehicle would start back up and power steering went out. Our driving speed was at 30mph so it was extremely scary during rush hour traffic. We had to have it towed to the dealership, we're not sure what the issue will be.

The contact owned a 2024 Mazda CX-90. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the engine seized. The contact stated that the failure occurred while the contact was driving at night on a busy dark road. The Police was contacted for assistance. The contact stated that it took two days for the vehicle to be towed from the location because the vehicle was missing a tow tool. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact no longer owns the vehicle, after agreeing to a buyback. The failure mileage was approximately 28,100.

Vehicle present engine hesitation. In acceleration the engine losses power, noticeable delay and jerk when accelerating from a stop. Also if you have to make a suddenly speed reduction, you see that the vehicle still accelerating. First time the dealership did a technician service bulletin to fixed the problem, but for the second time with exactly the same problem they said that is normal. That’s a safety issue and Mazda is ignoring the concern.

When making a slight left turn at a curve steering wheel locks up and requires force to to turn it straight again , it is very dangerous and could result in accidents

I was driving my 2024 CX90 PHEV when a warning about an electrical leakage in the hybrid system was detected. I brought it home and parked in my garage. I called the dealership and they told me to bring it in. When I started to leave, the car would not shift out of park and bricked up. A towing service had to drag it out of my garage. My concern is that there is no limp mode or any way to switch to the gasoline engine when this happened. Had there been a fire in the battery, I would not have been able to get it out of my garage, putting our house and children at risk. Also, had it locked up on a highway, an accident could easily happen. After the dealership dragged it off of the rollback, they couldn’t even get the car to move. They told me that they would have to order special tools to be able to get the car to move. Along with the steering recall that worked for about a month, the steering rack had to be replaced, and the failure of the electrical system, I feel like this car is unsafe to drive. Thank you.

On my way to drop kid to school all of a sudden the car gave up power and shuddered with engine malfunction and I-drive malfunction warning. Check engine light came on. This is risky because another vehicle could have smashed into us if on highway or high speed. Research shows that a whole lot of people have this identical issue.

On [XXX], I was heading home from Brooklyn. It was a rainy day. The vehicle was functioning fine when all of a sudden the sign on the dashboard said "Iactive sense deactivated" which is something that always happens when it's raining. It had happened the Thursday prior to the accident when heading to the city and many other times. I had just crossed the George Washington Bridge, on [XXX] , going the speed limit or less, when the the iactive sense sign came up. About 1000 feet after I saw the sign and repeating it to my daughter the vehicle tried to get into the right lane, I was in the left lane of three lanes. I knew it was the iactive sense because i had felt it before many times. I braked and controlled the vehicle back into the left lane. said, "I can see the lane" The vehicle then sped on, moved right, then sped all the way right into the guardrail, all the while I tried to brake and turn left to avoid hitting the guardrail but the wheel was locked and the brake did not work. My right arm got hit by the air bag deploying. After hitting the guardrail we span all the way back into the left lane with the vehicle facing the opposite direction facing on coming traffic. I then hit the hazard lights a few times out of panic, then I had my daughter crawl to me (she was sitting behind me) in the front so we can get out because I thought there was smoke. Turns out it was the airbags' powder, according to the fire department. Another lady who was from the NYPD stopped to see what happened and I explained to her what happened and then the NJ police showed up and she left. When the police got there, I told him what happened. He repeated, "you lost control" at which I said "no the vehicle took control" From my observation the vehicle was like was angry and confused about where to stay and hitting something was the only way it would stop. Warning Alert for Hybrid System Malfunction also I Activsense partially disabled notice on screen

When driving at highway speed (>60mph), the driver side mirror appears to be vibrating, and when attempting to focus on images in the mirror, the images appear blurred. Over time, the blurring vision starts to make the driver feel dizzy when on long (3+ hrs) road trips. This was initially noticed/experienced on a road trip from Illinois to Norfolk, Virginia, and again on two more trips to Washington DC from Norfolk VA. Needless to say, the issue is persistent every time at highway speeds. The issue was reported to a local dealership in Chesapeake, VA, on October 2nd, 2024. Initially, the dealer said they could not replicate the issue. However, upon going on the test driver with a "senior mechanic," the issue was acknowledged. Dealer also picked a random Mazda CX 90 inline (non PHEV) from the lot, and the issue was again observed on test drive, with a more pronounced vibration in both mirrors. The dealer however declined to address or report the issue. Instead, the dealer maintained that the issue was unique to CX90s, so it is normal in this model. On October 9th, this issue was reported to Mazda USA and was assigned case number [XXX]. Bottom line: this issue may be "normal" in Mazda CX 90s, but that is not normal driving conditions, and poses a safety risk to drivers taking (long) road trips in this vehicle. Loss of engine power/acceleration while driving on highway. Was able to safely pull over but felt in danger during the incident especially with cars behind me surprised by my vehicles loss of power.
