Second event: Again about 30 mph, a FEDEX truck was turning left in front of me, as I steered to the right to pass it, the AEB stopped me, fortunately there was no one behind me this time. The last time this happened I was rear-ended.

The contact's daughter owns a 2019 Mazda CX-5. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at undisclosed speeds, the Mazda Connect Center Display touch screen was operating independently, causing vehicle functions to be engaged unintendedly. The contact was concerned for her daughter's safety because the center display functions included safety lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and traffic sign recognition safety functions. The contact related the failure to Mazda Special Service Program (SSP) Number: B6. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

My vehicle has only 8700 miles. At around 2500 miles first gear refused to engage, and I had to start the car in second for a week. That week I scheduled for service but the problem was not reproducible, since then it has been intermittent by never prolonged like that full week. This is and was a safety risk because I have been stuck on a hill, stop signs, and green traffic lights etc. Because it was not reproducible, the claim was dismissed. At around 4000 miles and on, third gear became very inconsistent in shift action. Typically it won't allow me to shift into third at all, other times it will grind, or requires excessive force to engage gear. This happens both in motion and at a stop. In traffic, the sudden loss in speed and rpm from being unable to shift into third poses a risk, especially getting onto on ramps. The dealer still cannot reproduce the issue, and in fact I have a 2 minute long video of the fault - pending their response to the video. Mazda corporate claims this is not a known or common issue. No warning lights pick up this fault. I have since continued to come to a resolution, and will return to the dealership.

After online research, other people with Mazda vehicles have had the same problem and it’s called ghost touch. My screen controls go automatically without me touching any dials while I’m driving, which is extremely distracting and unsafe. I have tried to get it fixed by a few dealerships and they either put it off or say it’s not under warranty/recall.

The air bag warning system shows "passenger air-bags not engaged" If involved in any accident that requires passenger air-bags to inflate, they will not. Causing serious to deadly consequences. January 28 2025 the Mazda service department had our vehicle to recalibrating the system. Checking the problem after the service still show the same problem. Another Mazda CX-30 was brought over, and the same problem existed. Also a Mazda CX-5 was tested and no problem was found. This was the second time this problem has been returned to the Mazda Dealership. This problem has existed since purchasing this vehicle.

Center multimedia display malfunctioning by ghost touching. Without using the commander switch, touch panel, or voice recognition, the screen will scroll through settings, apps, change radio stations, etc. Additionally, it will turn off maps in Apple Play when the program is in use. I hope this message finds you well. My name is [XXX] , and I am the owner of a 2019 Mazda CX-5 purchased as part of the Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) program. I am writing to formally address two concerning issues related to my vehicle’s warranty coverage and its safety. 1. Warranty Coverage for Drive Belt Tensioner: During a recent visit to your dealership, I was informed that the drive belt tensioner on my vehicle is not covered under the warranty. This contradicts the coverage listed on your official Mazda CPO Warranty, which specifies that the Limited Powertrain Warranty includes the engine, timing chain, tensioner, and associated components. The drive belt tensioner is clearly referenced in this section, yet I was told it falls under wear and tear and is not covered. I kindly request a detailed explanation regarding this discrepancy. I believe the information I was given does not align with the warranty’s stated coverage, and I am concerned that the dealership is not honoring the terms of the warranty as outlined on your website. 2. Ongoing Noise Issue: Additionally, my vehicle has been making an unusual noise, which I reported during my visits to two separate Mazda dealerships. Unfortunately, despite multiple attempts to diagnose the issue, neither dealership has been able to identify the source of the noise. This situation has left me feeling unsafe while operating the vehicle, as I am unsure of its origin or potential impact on my vehicle’s performance or safety. I would appreciate it if you could escalate this matter and offer assistance in determining the cause of the noise, as well as ensure that all components of the vehicle are functioning properly. The lack of resolution is not only inconvenient but also concerning from a safety perspective. Request for Resolution: I trust that Mazda values its customers and will make every effort to resolve these issues in a timely manner. I respectfully request that the drive belt tensioner be covered und INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMA

My infotainment display has a prevalent ghost touch issue that causes majors distractions while I'm driving, and no warnings on when it'll happen. The ghost touch will end my navigation, end my calls or put them on hold, call random people in my contacts, turns on/off the music, changes the volume, changes various settings (sometimes safety settings), switching back/forth to different things, etc. It used to only happen when the car was not moving or I'm parked (as the touchscreen is only supposed to be available then), but now it's happening even when I'm driving on the freeway. I used to try correcting/fixing whatever by using the knob control, but the problem can become so severe that even when I use the physical knob I can't gain control over it. I can't turn off the infotainment display because the ghost touch just turns it back on! I brought it into my local Mazda dealership for regular servicing and decided to ask about it, but they're quoting me over $800 to fix it. They said it's a common issue they get all the time and it's something to do with a faulty screen?? Not too sure what exactly, but a friend of mine said he had the same issue and the issue was too sporadic he decided to disconnect the touch screen altogether. It's too much of a distraction to deal with while driving, even for quick trips to the store, etc. It causes cognitive, visual, and manual distractions...these faulty screens are putting us all at a higher risk of being involved in an accident by taking our attention away from driving, even for just a split second.

Malfunctioning on and off on the display screen. My battery went dead after 11 months. Cause? It started over a year ago, but I called Mazda and they said there were no recalls at that time. Are there any now to date? Thank you for your time.
