2019 MAZDA CX-5- Glen Allen, VA
My Mazda CX-5 was found to have a cracked cylinder in the engine and was profusely leaking oil. When I spoke to the dealership they denied seeing this regularly, however, upon doing research on reddit, it is found to be more pronounced than indicated. There was no known cause indicated, however, on reddit it appears that the original casting done in Mexico maybe the culprit because it is so thin and causes it to crack between 40-50k miles. There is no other sign or warnings, besides an obscene amount of oil leaking. The failure of this could cause the engine to fail while driving. This is a significant risk.

Involuntary acceleration. Twice now at very low speeds between 1-5 mph the engine revs up and the car lurches forward for a second or two. Was pulling into house garage and was about to push acceleration pedal when the engine revved on its own and jolted the car forward. I slammed on the brakes real quickly when it happened and slid to a stop almost a foot away from crashing into house wall. I don't know for sure but I feel if I hadn't pushed the brakes it would have continued. Has happened one other time to a different driver, same car. Aside from possibly sending me crashing through my house I live next to a school and children and families are walking across the crosswalks all the time. If it were to happen when someone was in front of me I'm scared of what would happen, or even just parking at the grocery store I could easily slam into the car in the next spot. There were no warning /safety lights or any error lights on the dashboard before or when this happened. Not sure what caused it so I checked multiple boxes of what I think it could possibly be. Mazda has a recall out but I checked my vin and so far it's not registering a recall. My technician at the dealership is off today but I will call back tomorrow and talk to him about the incident.

The cylinder head on my 2018 Mazda CX-5 developed cracks on the exhaust side, leading to significant oil leakage onto the exhaust manifold. This has caused engine damage and safety concerns. The vehicle is currently at a Mazda dealership, where the issue has been inspected and documented. The component is available for further inspection upon request. The oil leaking onto the exhaust manifold creates a serious fire hazard due to the high heat generated in this area. Additionally, the vehicle experienced burning smells and visible smoke coming through the air vents, which could impair visibility or cause distraction while driving. These conditions place the safety of myself, my passengers, and others on the road at risk. The issue has been confirmed by a Mazda dealership. They provided a video showing oil actively dripping from the cracked cylinder head and stated that the engine requires a full replacement. Mazda dealership video: [XXX] This video contains the engine inspection findings conducted at the dealership during my recent visit. It clearly shows the damage and highlights the issues identified. The vehicle has been inspected by the Mazda dealership service team, who identified the cracks in the cylinder head and documented the oil leakage and related engine damage. There were no warning lamps or messages on the dashboard prior to the failure. The symptoms began with a noticeable burning smell inside the cabin, followed by a slight mist coming out of the air vents and smoke from under the hood. Oil leakage was later observed on the ground, and the coolant level appeared empty. I’ve received a video inspection of my vehicle from the service center on March 7, 2024 with no concerns at that time, which you can view here: [XXX] . 2019 MAZDA MAZDA3- Lake Ronkonkoma, NY
A few weeks ago the following error message popped up on my dashboard: “Airbag Malfunction. Have vehicle inspected”. This message came and went intermittently whenever I had a passenger in the vehicle. I scheduled and appointment at my local Mazda dealership service center and in the meantime looked up the issue and found that it was extremely common and caused by a design flaw where the wire harness to the seat airbags was too short causing eventual failure. The issue was so prominent that Mazda even issued a service bulletin on how to fix it which included replacing the wire harness and adding extra security clips to help prevent future failure. So I get my car to the service center and after looking at it they confirm this exact issue, say it is not covered under any extended warranty and tell me that it will cost approximately $1,000 to fix (diagnostic, parts plus labor). I asked how a safey issue such as an airbag not deploying isn’t covered and they reaffirm that it is NOT a safety issue and that there is no recall for it nor would it fail inspection with that error message. They also did confirm that in the event of an accident that airbag would not deploy while that error message was showing. I am at a loss right now and am not sure what to do as I cannot afford a $1,000 fix and am very confused as to how this design flaw for what I believe to be a safety issue is not covered under a recall.

2024 MAZDA CX-90 PLUG-IN HYBRID- Fleming Island, FL
with lane-keep assist /lane-centering enabled, the steering will try to straighten the car while turning. experienced this during on-ramp and off-ramp of highway. this is super dangerous. even experienced it at low speed in the neighborhood. steering wheel will fight me during turn and disengage for brief second - this is very disconcerting while making a turn. even with lane-keep assist disabled, I can still feel the wheel (very minor feedback) trying to change course while turning. this issue began immediately after dealer performed all active recalls.

Excessive intermittent Engine vibration at 10 mph to 40 mph at very light load, very light throttle. If a very light throttle Is applied or removed the vibration seems to go away. In light traffic at low speed the vibration is of concern as to the damages it may further cause. On 11/19/2024 Boucher Mazda charged me to perform PCM and TCM updates which did not correct the problem. On 12/11/2024 Russ Darrow Mazda of Greenfield Wi, thought a motor mount KN-39-040 should be replaced. $540.28 later, the problem is worse. I believe the problem is caused by the CYLINDER DEACTIVATION issue Identified by Recall 3719F which I was never notified. This is a safety issue, because I don’t know when the engine is to fail or stall or what the damages will be. I pay a large fee for Diagnosing only to get “LIP” Service.

2022 MAZDA CX-5- Creston, CA
I was driving to Home Depot after work around 6PM PST on [XXX] and must have fallen asleep at the wheel about a.1/4 of a mile from my house and left the road way after a turn. I hit my head so hard I had to be treated for a head injury and the car dialed 911 for me to report a crash. The airbags nor any other safety system triggered besides detecting a crash and dialing 911. My car was deemed totalled by insurance and had to go to the hospital.
