6 speed manual transmission failure at 59,000 miles Started not shifting into 3rd, then shortly after, the transmission locked up in a intersection. Which stalled the vehicle out. Was able to move the vehicle by hand, out of heavy traffic. Since this effects all ND1, ND2 and ND3 manual transmissions. I dropped and changed it for a used one. While I rebuild the original. As I am also outside of warranty.

The component that failed was the passenger's seat belt. It became unattached from the seat. It appears as though the bolt that holds the fastener to the seat failed. The vehicle is currently available for inspection as it has not been taken to be repaired, yet. Safety was put at risk by the seatbelt not being attached to the seat which could have resulted in serious bodily injury in the event of an accident. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center, yet. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by police, insurance, or manufacturer. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem appeared prior to failure.

Manual transmission synchronizers fail, causing erratic gear shift operation and the inability to change gears, which could result in an accident. The ND Mazda Miata Owners Group on Facebook has polled its owners and found a 10% failure rate of manual transmissions among owners in the group who required replacement of the transmission. On [XXX], at approximately 20,000 miles on the odometer, my 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata experienced a grind from the transmission while downshifting to third gear at city speeds. I alerted Mazda North American Operations on May 30, 2024. On [XXX], the gearbox began grinding during downshifts into second gear. My car entered service at Mazda of Knoxville around June 3, 2024. Mazda of Knoxville confirmed that the vehicle required transmission replacement. Parts were not immediately available, and due to a work assignment in Des Moines, I had to drive the vehicle to Iowa. On [XXX], I noticed fourth gear began grinding during upshifts. On June 10, 2024, the vehicle entered Ramsey Mazda of Des Moines for service. Mazda North American Operations did not immediately approve repair, stating that their engineering department requested information from Mazda of Knoxville and is reviewing the claim. I am still awaiting an update. The vehicle is available for NHTSA inspection at Ramsey Mazda in Des Moines. Manual transmission failures are a serial problem for the ND-chassis Mazda MX-5 Miata since the 2016 model year, with significant failure rates reported among owners for 2016, 2017, 2022 and 2023 model years. Symptoms begin with difficulty upshifting to third gear that feels like a blocked shift gate. Grinding in the transmission soon leads to complete failure, which causes loss of throttle control and could result in an accident. Due to the flawed engine design which is well documented for these engines, ours started leaking coolant and it was eventually discovered that the head had cracked, and we were forced to have the head replaced. This repair cost us approximately $7600. Our hope is that Mazda will eventually issue a recall.

I was driving 65 mph and the hybrid system malfunction warning came up. Car dropped to 25mph - pressing the gas pedal would not increase the speed. Continued to coast with no acceleration until it came to a stop and shut off

The car’s driver side mirror shakes (glass in mirror) and causing distraction while driving, which seem to be the widespread case. Other 2 CX-90 driven in dealership had the similar issues. The shaking is more prominent at highway speed and while going over bumps.

Google search shows Mazda has common problem with their front sensing camera, people are reporting the issue for different Mazda models across the board for the last few years including newer models as well. My car display shows few malfunction warning messages. Following captured from MyMazda app. 1. Forward sensing camera malfunction. i-ACTIVESENSE advanced safety and driver support systems may not operate correctly. 2. High Beam Control System is disabled. Automatic switching between high and low beams is unavailable.

SUNROOF EXPLODED. NOTHING HIT THE CAR JUST SPONTANEOUS EXPLOSION WHILE DRIVING. SOUNDED LIKE A GUN SHOT IT WAS SO LOUD.

My vehicle had a coolant leak st the cylinder head around the exhaust manifold. The problem was confirmed by an independent service. No warning lamps, message or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure did not appear. The problem was detected because coolant was dropping from the powertrain to the floor. When tha catalyst was removed it was found broken due to the high temperature but the car never display a high temperature warning lamp and the temperature display remains in normal position. The car could get on fire since no warnings or signal of high temperature was registered. After the situation occurred, I found a Technical Service Bulletin (No 01-01321) from Mazda North American Operations regarding this issue but since the problem occurred after the powertrain warranty the dealer did not accept to repair it. The probability that my car could get in fire was high since no warning lamps were display.

2019 Mazda CX-9 Coolant Leak. 1st warning light just discovered on June 10, 2024. Dealership quoted not under warranty and will cost $14,000 to replace engine. Mazda has an open TSB Technical Service Bulletin for this and many other Mazda's with the same engine- TSB-Coolant Leaks at Cylinder Heads, Bulletin # - 01-013/21 issued 10/15/21 (CRACKED CYLINDER HEADS). Need Mazda to stand by their product and remedy impacted owners.
