MAZDA Complaints

Heavy condensation is occurring inside the driver side headlamp. A quick google search shows this is a common problem among Mazda owners and Mazda will not cover the repair. I am unable to get a Massachusetts state inspection sticker due to this.

I took my car to the mechanic for some routine maintenance and they called to tell me they discovered that the rear subframe is completely corroded. They say the car is not safe to drive, as it could come apart at any moment, and it will cost so much to repair (current estimate is $8000 and still climbing!) that it may be better for me to buy a new car (which I cannot afford). The mechanic expressed shock at how badly the subframe has deteriorated. He said it is in much worse shape than the rest of the car, which I have always maintained carefully. In 2019 my car was recalled for a defective front cross-member, which the dealer replaced. I was told at the time that it was recalled because the coating applied to it was defective and did not protect the part from corrosion. Based on my research, it seems that the same defective coating was applied to the rear subframe, and that it is why it has rusted so quickly and severely. I see that the NHTSA is already aware of this issue - [XXX] . The exact problem I am having is described in [XXX] : "Mazda6 owners told NHTSA there was severe corrosion of the right rear subframes that caused the steering rack mounting bolts to fail." It is completely unacceptable that Mazda replaced the defective part in the front but has not replaced the similarly defective part in the rear, which has failed for the same reason. I am furious that this has made my beloved car, which is otherwise in very good shape and runs beautifully, undriveable. Mazda should be required to repair this severe safety defect, which is entirely their responsibility! Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience. There has been two dangerous failures both occurring in an intersection. First instance was in December of 2023 whey the fuel pump failed while turning in an intersection. The second incident was a hybrid battery malfunction, rendering my vehicle unusable in the middle of an intersection again. This was 03/2023

There a oil leak either engine cylinder crack or head gasket leak and the car only has 53000 miles when warranty just expires. After searching on the internet, there seems to be many similar cases. Mazda should recall this issue.

The water pump failed causing water to mix with the oil and damage the head gasket. Estimates recommend replacing engine. The service engine light came on and we took it to our trusted mechanic right away. Got the estimates from two mechanics for this repair and then towed the car to Mazda dealer who confirmed the problem. We wrote to Mazda's corporate office and was told they would not fix it. My car has 68,000 miles and was regularly serviced. It is currently sitting dead in my garage. We bought this car in 2015 brand new from the Mazda dealer in Monroeville, PA. This is outrageous! I spoke with someone else who also owns a Mazda and the same thing happened to his car. From articles I have read and attached, this problem is occurring in many Mazdas. What needs to be in place for Mazda to take responsibility and fix this problem by recalling the affected vehicles?

An ultrasonic sensor located in the right front grill area was determined to have failed producing the following message on the dash display: I-Activsense Temporarily Disabled. Ultrasonic Sensor Obscured. Drive Safely. This message initially appeared at approximately the 1500 mile mark of service and was documented when the vehicle was brought in for routine maintenance to Fort Myers Mazda at mile mark 3583 on 3/12/24. It is my position that safety equipment should be reasonably durable and reliable which is clearly not the case in this situation. There is a small pin sized dimple in the sensor lens. The sensor is currently available for inspection. It is further the position of Fort Myers Mazda that this sensor is not covered by the Manufacturer’s warranty due to component damage.

My drivers door locked from the inside the other day and would not open. It had to be opened from the outside.

On [XXX], San Diego, CA. (car is new purchase of 1 month 1 week old, 1250 miles, outside temp of 60 degrees, 3/4 battery charge, full tank of gas) Slowed to a stop at a red light in morning rush hour traffic. Engine sputters and multiple warnings appear on dash, including "Hybrid System Malfunction" "I ActiveSense Malfunction" "check engine" etc etc. CAR DIES IN LANE OF TRAFFIC AND LOCKS IN PARK. Attempted to restart 5-6 times, car would start and die immediately with same warnings. 7th restart and engine starts but had to finish drive in sport due to "Hybrid System Malfunction". Per NHTSA and dealer, all previous recalls had been performed/addressed prior to purchase date of [XXX]. Left car with dealer on [XXX] to address and repair issue. On multiple occasions, low oil warning lamp illuminates and I have confirmed low oil level. Dealer is unable to confirm and refuses to address Mazda TSB because oil level is no longer low since I topped it up. The failure lies in the valve seal assembly. My safety and that of my passengers is affected because in the event of a low oil incident, my ability to safely drive the speed limit and/or accelerate quickly is compromised. Should a catastrophic failure occur, engine would lose all power. Date of most recent incident marked below.

Gas smell / leak from gas tank when more than 7/8 full. Seems to leak from the top. AEB frequently says disabled due to high interior car temperature. Even in winter when temperature below freezing.
