2018 MAZDA CX-5- Miami, FL
Ghost Screen, a very well know issue for Mazda. The screen change on its own, no way to fix it. Mazda recalled all their 2014-16 screen, and the 2017-18 are affected by same issue but they are not taking responsibility for it. Dealership wants to replace the screen, that's over $1,000 repair. Please make Mazda earn their mistake.

2017 MAZDA CX-5- Warwick, RI
The vehicle display registers false “phantom” touches, causing it to behave erratically. Mazda issued a service bulletin for 2014-2016 Mazda 3 models but this affects most Mazda models through at least 2020 including our 2017 CX-5. Mazda has not acknowledged this for other vehicles. My 2016 Mazda 3had the repair completed under a service bulletin. Unfortunately the dealer will charge a diagnostic fee for this vehicle. Mazda does offer a repair part for this issue, where they previously required complete CMU replacement, so they know it’s a problem. This results in sudden and random changes in volume, navigation, radio, etc with no intervention, causing a significant distraction and safety concern.

2016 MAZDA MX-5- Corrales, NM
On December 7, 2023 at approximately 10:30pm, I was traveling west bound on [XXX] . Suddenly, there was a loud thumping noise from under the passenger seat. After about 10 seconds, it escalated to an extremely loud banging and the smell of oil. Not a single warning light appeared on my dashboard. I immediately attempted to pull off the road. This area is in the middle of a mesa with no streetlights and a speed of a 65mph road. I immediately put on my hazard lights and was stranded. The dangerousness of this situation was insurmountable. I was in a 2 seated convertible, partially on the road with no streetlights as cars and trucks flew by me at speeds above 65mph. Had I been hit from behind; I would have been killed instantaneously. I contacted AAA for emergency towing. The tow truck was deployed. In the meantime, I sat there helplessly. A passerby stopped to try to help but was unable to get the car to roll to a safe area off the road. Time passed. About an hour later, I called AAA again stating the dire need for assistance and the call was elevated to emergency. At this time a police officer drove by. I explained the situation and he parked behind me with lights on, potentially stopping a fatal situation. The tow truck finally arrived, and my car was towed to the address on my warranty above. I contacted Southern Automotive in Rio Rancho and was placed on a wait list for the car to be seen. I contacted CareGuard and they stated I could take the car to any automotive place for repair that was qualified to work on a Mazda. I confirmed this with Southern Automotive. They are AAA qualified, and service qualified for Mazda. They were not able to get the car in until 12/18/23. The car sat in my garage. On 12/18/23, Southern Automotive sent a tow truck to pick up the car. On Tuesday, 12/19/23, I received a call from Cody at Southern Automotive. The car had had a “catastrophic event in the rear differential” INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552

2014 MAZDA MAZDA6- Arlington, TX
The incident occurred while operating a diligently maintained 2014 Mazda 6 Touring, overseen by dealership service. While driving, the check engine light illuminated, prompting an immediate halt. Upon inspection, a concerning observation was made: the coolant level was significantly low. Despite no apparent leaks, further examination revealed a crack in the cylinder head, allowing coolant to mix with the oil. This issue, specific to Mazda's 2.5L Skyactiv engine, has been identified as a manufacturing defect, independent of overheating. Notably, this problem has been echoed by multiple users, confirming the presence of defective cylinder heads in these vehicles. This flaw necessitates an expensive repair, absolving the vehicle owner of any responsibility. Despite the widespread occurrence of this issue, Mazda has declined to issue a recall for vehicles equipped with these faulty cylinder blocks. Online forums and discussions have highlighted numerous instances of identical cracks in the same location, affirming the prevalence of this problem with Mazda's 2.5L engines. This poses a serious concern for vehicle safety and warrants attention from both Mazda and vehicle owners. Additional information regarding this issue can be found through the provided links. 2020 MAZDA CX-30- Fort Pierce, FL
The car was running in parking garage without ignition being turned on. When I entered the car, the motor wouldn't catch at all, and message popped up saying the there was a brake malfunction. All the lights were on, so it did not seem to be a battery problem, but the drive function was dead. Several months ago the car started racing while i was driving and i couldnt get it to stop. I finally, while still driving, turned off the ignition and rolled off the road. After a few minutes, i restarted the engine. it had stopped racing and i drove it to the Mazda dealership. They didnt find anything wrong. So this latest incident, Jan. 3rd, involved an uninitiated running vehicle that was parked, and the brake malfunction console notice that said "brake malfunction". Again, the prior incident involved the same vehicle racing on a roadway and necessitated the turning off the ignition while on a major road and rolling the car onto the shoulder. There is something wrong with this car involving the engine and brakes. Triple A came to tow it to the dealership and utilized an alternator to start it, which enabled them to drive it to the tow truck.

This in regards to NHTSA Recall #: 23V-487. It has been 173 days since this recall was announced and I have not received any correspondence from the manufacturer. The recall has been sitting with no remedy available for 6 months. I want to know when Mazda is expected to have a fix to this vehicle?

Cylinder head is leaking oil due to known defect by Mazda. The rocker arm rubs the cylinder and causes the wall the thin and oil to leak through. Oil sprays on exhaust and other moving parts causing a safety concern due to possible oil combustion. This is in relation to TSB SA-031/21. Only alert is the low engine oil light due to the leak. At this point, oil has already covered a majority of the engine compartment and exhaust manifold.

Turning left at intersection at green light , the oncoming traffic sped up and I needed to floor it to not get hit. The my car switch to hybrid and went into a crawl pace. I had to floor it again to wake it up and get the heck out of the way. I don't think the computer is doing a good job talking to the hybrid system and the powertrain during emergency maneuvering. This can be dangerous. I know it scared the hell out me.

2021 MAZDA CX-9- Jacksonville, FL
I just purchased this vehicle 2 months ago. Yesterday my oil light came on, I pulled over and checked the oil it was completely low. I had to put a quart of oil in it. After that I did some research and learned this seems to be an issue with some 2021 models the cx9 included. There needs to be a recall on this and Mazda needs to fix this issue. These cars cost way to much to have to put a quart of oil every month.
