My 2015 Mazda is equipped with a touch screen infotainment system. The touch screen has started to randomly change settings when the car is stopped (and running). Since correcting these changes can't be done while the car is stopped (more random changes occur), changes must be made while the car is in motion. This creates a dangerous situation by needlessly distracting the driver.

10/31/2023 my daughter was in a car accident driving this vehicle identified by the VIN above. The car was totaled. Airbags did not deploy.

While traveling in the left lane on a 2 lane interstate, 79S, the car suddenly braked as I passed a truck in the right lane entering a curve. The "apply brake now" emergency message also flashed on the display. Had a vehicle been closely following behind, it would have crashed into my rear

Car started running rough and losing power intermittently. After arriving home and parking the car, a puddle of coolant started at the rear of the engine. Online research indicates this is a known issue for the 2016 CX-9. Head gasket failure causes coolant leak from back side of engine at the head gasket. Coolant is still leaking 24 hours later without the car being run.

Sudden jerking started when driving on a 45miles/hour with vehicle stopping suddenly. The issue was diagnosed by the dealer to be a transmission related and was asked to replace with a new transmission. There was no prior warning.

I have taken my car to two separate Mazda dealerships in 2019 and two separate non-dealership mechanics to address the same issue with a vibrating coming from the front driver when driving at lower speeds. It was not a constant noise until recently and saw there was a recall for my vehicle in May 2016. Mazda however says that my VIN does not qualify even though the build date range does show its covered. The problem at first was noted by the Kent Mazda dealership in 2019 but said the vehicle's small framing could cause this. This vibrating has become more clear and causing my vehicle to shake violently when steering. It has made me very fearful as each mechanic I take it to cannot find the source of the issue and overlook it. Mazda Corporate has not been helpful and overlooks the safety as it is something I've brought up to them. When the system thinks there might be a collision it initiates a hard braking even when there is enough space to avoid a collision. Multiple times, the car behind me had to do a hard break as well not to hit me from behind. A google search revealed multiple people complaining of similar issue. The system brakes too extremely aggressively (drops speed from 30 MPH to 5 or less MPH almost instantly stopping/causing skidding) even at its lowest setting. When I address with Mazda Service Manager he advised "it's supposed to do that" and if I choose to I can manually disable the feature each time I enter the vehicle. Note, I am currently driving a loaner car 2023 Mazda CX-5 and have not experienced the same issue, so it does not seem "it's supposed to do that". I have been driving the loaner for 4 weeks and not once have I experience this issue - the system has never engaged except for once where only the Warning light appeared on the display but the braking did not engage. Whereas my vehicle engages this anti collision braking nearly every day I drive it. This system has almost caused more accidents than it protected me from them.

Heating element on front windscreen burning and smoking causing windscreen to crack and is very obviously defective.

After turning vehicle off, two incorrect warnings appeared on the dash monitor. 1) “Rear Seat Alert. Check Rear Seats….” 2) Warning image and sound regarding the rear bumper. However, there were no objects in the back seats (except for a light sunhat that had been there for weeks), and there was nothing near the left rear bumper. In fact no objects for probably 10 feet from the bumper. I noticed this once, 10/24/2023 but it may have occurred before and I didn’t notice (I frequently get out of the car quickly when at my destination). Safety concern since the safety features are not giving correct warning signals.

Gear shift can easily slide from Drive to Neutral (and from Neutral to Reverse) if a book, purse, or other object is on the center console and slides forward and touches the gearshift when vehicle comes to a stop. Photos attached show me shifting from D to N with my pinky finger. This is a safety problem because if the center console is flat, making it easy for someone to place an object on it. When the car needs to stop somewhat quickly, the object on the console slides forward and pushes the gearshift into Neutral. This happened to me while I was in traffic, resulting in confusion as to why I could not drive the car forward after my stop. I then realized the car had been shifted into neutral. I shifted the car back into Drive and removed the object from the console. Safety issue for anyone beginning to drive this car wi the out this knowledge. Could also occur if a passenger (unknown to the driver) places an object on the console.
