Sudden acceleration even. Date April 10, 2026, at around 2:30 PM on a clear sunny day. Car make and model Mazda CX5 bought on 7/4/2023 VIN [XXX] , mileage around 10,000, only one owner. While attempting to park at BJ’s Wholesale Club ,when driver started to make a turn to a parking space, vehicle suddenly accelerated, applying the brakes stopped the forward motion, then driver put the car in reverse to try to properly park in a parking space and the car accelerated in reverse, this sudden motion could have killed or seriously injured any person passing in back of the car, when that motion stopped driver put the car in drive to be able to finally park the car and it sped uncontrollably, brakes didn’t stop the vehicle and it crashed against two vehicles parked nearby, damage to the Mazda vehicle was mainly to the left side, the front grill was not damage because driver was not able to control the rapid forward motion. Door handle cables detach easily which prevents the door from being opened from the inside. It has happened to me twice on my driver side door the last 5 months. Research online shows this is a very common problem with newer Mazdas and it is a major safety hazard as it prevents easy exit from the vehicle in the event of an emergency, especially if there is power loss so the windows cannot be opened.

It’s a safety risk with this car. The converter burns super fast, causing issues that seem like it’s related to transmission or alternator.

When driving at highway speeds, steering wheel locks in leftward position. I cannot manually move the steering wheel at this time for around 15 seconds. It happens unexpectedly and is a safety hazard. I brought it to Mazda dealership and they did not fix it. They performed an airbag clockspring replacement and this has not fixed the issue.

Crack in Cylinder Head of engine. Mazda has been sued about this and have issued recalls on turbo engines, but not on non turbo ones though its the same systemic design issue with these engines. Wants me to pay 5-7k out of pocket.

The sterring wheel becomes stiff and hard to steer. It veers to the right. Almost like it locks up. Very concerning.

The failures are intermittent but recurring, and I have personally experienced them multiple times under normal driving conditions. The dealership has not been able to reproduce the failures consistently, and Mazda has provided no inspection, no investigation, and no acknowledgment of the issue despite multiple attempts to contact them. In addition, numerous other 2026 Mazda CX-5 owners are reporting the exact same problems across multiple online forums and owner communities. These include: • Complete center display blackouts • Random system errors • Telematics failures • Driver-assist malfunctions • Connected Services not working at all Owners are actively seeking help from one another because Mazda is ignoring customer reports, providing no guidance, and offering no official communication or support. This widespread pattern strongly suggests the issue is not isolated, but rather a potential systemic defect affecting the 2026 CX-5 platform.

2016 Mazda MX5 club: In warmer weather(70 degree F or higher) and after driving for 5+ miles, the steering becomes less sensitive and gets “stuck/sticky” and requires more force to turn. When applied more force the car over corrects and you swerve cause the amount of force you needed to apply. Seems like something in the steering rack expands with heat which then creates friction which you have to overcome to continue driving. Seems like it’s becoming more of a issues the more people drive

The power steering system in our 2024 Mazda CX-90 intermittently "sticks" while steering, requiring noticeably increased effort to turn the wheel before it suddenly releases. The symptom matches the defect described in NHTSA Recall 24V-022 (sticky steering due to worm gear friction in the power steering assembly) and the ongoing NHTSA Recall Query into vehicles where the 24V-022 remedy has failed to resolve the issue. Component: Power steering gear / worm gear assembly. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: The intermittent increase in steering effort followed by sudden release creates a real risk of overcorrection, particularly during lane changes, highway driving, and turns from a stop. The driver cannot predict when the wheel will resist or release, which compromises the ability to maintain a consistent lane position and respond to road conditions. Dealer/service confirmation: UNKNOWN at this time — we are scheduling a dealer inspection. We will update if the dealer reproduces or documents the condition. Manufacturer/police/insurance inspection: None to date. No crash has occurred. Warning lamps or messages: None. No dashboard warnings, no error codes, and no messages have appeared before or during the sticking events. The condition is purely tactile through the steering wheel and is intermittent. The vehicle's recall status shows no active open recalls, suggesting any prior remedy under 24V-022 was already performed, yet the sticky steering symptom is still present — consistent with the complaints driving the current NHTSA investigation.

My 2018 Mazda CX five experience catastrophic engine failure at approximately 119,000 miles despite proper maintenance. The failure resulted in a repair estimate exceeding $9500. This type of failure raises concerns regarding potential engine defects or premature mechanical breakdown. Mazda acknowledged the issue by offering a minimal Goodwill payments, but refused meaningful assistance. I am reporting the issue to determine whether similar failures are occurring with Mazda and further investigation is warranted.
