The vehicle is experiencing intermittent steering “sticking”, most noticeable during normal highway driving and minor steering corrections. The steering wheel does not always return smoothly and instead feels resistant before releasing. This condition is unexpected, repeatable, and presents a safety risk, particularly during normal lane-keeping. Especially happens during left turns or keeping in lane while going through sight left curves. Very noticiable when going through traffic circles.

We believe the evaporative emissions control system (EVAP) / fuel vapor management system on our 2024 Mazda CX-90 MHEV (inline-6 mild hybrid) is malfunctioning, releasing strong raw gasoline vapors. The strong odor occurs everywhere around the vehicle while the engine is running and immediately after shutdown and exit. The problem is intermittent. No visible liquid fuel leaks have been observed. The vehicle and related components remain available for inspection upon request. This creates a direct safety risk: the hazardous flammable gasoline vapors are strong enough to migrate from our garage into our living space (house), posing a potential fire/explosion hazard if vapors accumulate near an ignition source, as well as a health concern from prolonged inhalation for our family. Raw gasoline vapors are highly flammable and should not be present in or around a residence. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by the dealer on at least one occasion. On the third service visit (dropped off March 5, 2026), the strong raw gasoline odor was so intense upon arrival that multiple dealership personnel, including General Manager Weldon Munsey, witnessed it immediately, and one technician looked under the vehicle to check for liquid gasoline leaks. On the two prior visits, technicians were unable to replicate the issue. The local dealer has informed us that they are aware of two other CX-90s with the exact same problem occurring at the same time within their dealership network. Despite having no root cause, no fix identified, and no timeline for resolution, the dealer wants us to return the loaner and take our car home unrepaired. The vehicle was purchased new on [XXX], and currently has 39,213 miles. It has been inspected multiple times by the dealership (Roger Beasley Mazda Georgetown, repair order [XXX]). Mazda Corporate has an open investigation (their case [XXX]) and has assigned a case manager (Chris) who is currently reviewing the issue with the service INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATIO

My vehicle has had the steering recall performed. However I have an issue where the steering is becoming very sticky, mostly when turning left. For example on an interstate clover leaf where steering angle is held constant for a short period of time, the steering feels stuck and requires extra effort to overcome that stuck point. It's alarming. This appears to be getting worse over the past few months.

While making sweeping turns, but predominantly left-hand turns, the steering wheel will get momentarily stuck in a turning position. Sometimes it is more difficult to get the wheels to straighten out than other times. Also, it normally only happens at higher rates of speed, more than 30mph. The steering getting "stuck" in a turning position, especially at elevated speeds, poses serious risks of getting in an accident. Especially if it were to happen into oncoming traffic on a 2-lane highway or something similar.

I have a 2024 Mazda CX-90. I want to report that about two years ago I was contacted regarding a recall (or possibly multiple recalls). The steering would become stiff while turning on curves. I took the vehicle to the dealer, and they reprogrammed something, which fixed the issue for a few months (I don’t remember exactly how long). However, the same problem happened again about three times. I brought the vehicle back to the dealer on January 23, 2026, and they did not have the necessary parts to repair it. I told them I was very afraid to drive the vehicle in that condition because the steering would get stuck when turning on curves, and I was worried that one day it could cause a serious or even fatal accident. The dealer told me they could not do anything at that time. It took 65 days for them to replace the parts, and it was very stressful driving under those conditions. Even after the repair, the vehicle does not feel right. I feel that the steering still moves abnormally, and I am very afraid to drive it like this. Additionally, the brakes sometimes make a strange noise. I don’t know what to do about this situation. I would like to return the vehicle, but I don’t know how, especially since the dealer is no longer responsible. I need help. The head gasket on the engine is cracked and is leaking oil and causing the oil to burn when car is driven. The problem was identified by a local mazda dealership and it is a well documented and known issue among SkyActive non-turbo engines. There were no warning lights or messages on the car, other than the smell of burning oil and smoke coming from the engine after driving. I have a toddler and the smoke and burning smell coming into my car every time I drive is concerning to our health. Mazda is well aware that the cracked head gasket issue extends beyond their turbo engines but did not include the non turbo engines in their extended warranty.

Front Subframe has corroded and broke. There is a recall on the subframe that was repaired by dealership in 2019, but this repair did not fix the issue since it has now rusted through and broke. The repair was faulty.

The contact owns a 2024 Mazda CX-90. The contact was informed about a previous recall associated with the steering that was repaired prior to owning the vehicle, but the failure persisted. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds and turning, the steering wheel jerked in the opposite direction, then became soft, and then more difficult to steer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired, but the contact was informed of a steering investigation. On another occasion, the contact stated that when the vehicle was stopped and the ON/OFF feature was activated. There was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated that after turning off and restarting the vehicle, and after refueling the vehicle, the messages "Engine Malfunction – Inspect Vehicle" and "Hybrid System Malfunction" was displayed. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 56,050.

While accelerating from a light that had just turned green, after passing through an intersection the vehicle seized up and came to a complete stop. There were no warning lights or any indication of a malfunction. The vehicle did not shut off, the wheels just stopped spinning. After a few seconds it began to accelerate again. It happened on a Sunday, I called the dealership Monday Morning. I was not comfortable driving it after that. They came to pick it up and take it for inspection. Fortunately, no other vehicles were around. This occurred 6 days after purchasing it new. They had it for 2 weeks and said they could not figure what the issue was.
