The affected component is the high-voltage traction battery and related battery management and bus-bar connection systems. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I am reporting a safety concern because my vehicle is subject to NHTSA Recall 25V050, which identifies a risk that the high-voltage battery could fail internally and cause a fire while parked or driving. It is also subject to NHTSA Recall 25V487, which identifies a defect involving the high-voltage battery bus-bar connection that may cause a sudden loss of drive power without warning. A battery fire could endanger vehicle occupants and people or property near a parked vehicle. A sudden loss of propulsion while driving could increase the risk of a crash. I have not personally experienced a vehicle fire or a sudden loss of drive power. However, I am being asked to continue operating and making lease payments on a vehicle with identified high-voltage battery safety defects and no completed effective remedy available for my vehicle. The currently available guidance limits charging to 80%, which reduces the vehicle’s usable range and practical value. The vehicle’s recall status has been confirmed through NHTSA and Mercedes-Benz recall information. To my knowledge, no dealer repair has been completed that eliminates these safety concerns. The vehicle has not been inspected by police, insurance representatives, or an independent service center in connection with an incident because no crash, fire, or loss-of-power event has occurred. Before any failure, I have not observed a warning lamp, warning message, or other battery-related symptom. My concern is that Recall 25V487 describes a potential sudden loss of drive power without warning, and Recall 25V050 identifies a potential battery-fire risk, including while the vehicle is parked.

    - Severn, MD

Component/System: The intake camshaft positioner/adjuster on cylinder bank 2 of the M276 V6 engine has failed, along with associated timing components. The vehicle (2018 Mercedes-Benz E400, VIN [XXX]) remains unrepaired and is available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: The engine produces a loud metallic rattle on cold starts, indicating loss of proper camshaft timing control. If unaddressed, camshaft timing deviation can progress to timing chain failure, which on interference engines can cause valve-to-piston contact and sudden, severe engine damage or loss of power while driving, posing a risk to vehicle control. Confirmed by Dealer: Yes. Mercedes-Benz of Catonsville (RO# [XXX]) diagnosed the issue and confirmed stored fault code P002177, indicating the intake camshaft position on cylinder bank 2 deviates from its specified value. The dealer's own notes state camshaft adjusters "are prone to failure and commonly damage camshafts when they fail." Manufacturer Notified: I contacted Mercedes-Benz USA directly (Case #[XXX]) to request they address this repair, citing that this camshaft/timing failure is a known, recurring issue on M276-equipped vehicles, supported by Mercedes' own technical service bulletins (TSB LI05.10-P-056435 and TSB LI05.20-P-059966) describing this exact failure pattern. Despite multiple attempts, including a promised callback that was never received and nearly an hour on hold with no resolution, Mercedes-Benz USA has not adequately responded or taken action. Warning Signs: The check engine light illuminated in early August 2026, prompting a dealer visit. The cold-start rattle was identified by the dealer during diagnosis the following day. No prior symptoms were noticed beforehand. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  • 2021 MERCEDES-BENZ A 220 4MATIC
    - Saint Michael, MN

My 2021 Mercedes-Benz A220 (M260 2.0L engine) triggered diagnostic fault code P052E, indicating a failure of the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) regulator valve / intake line assembly. Failure of this valve disrupts crankcase pressure, causing unmetered air intake, lean-running conditions, and engine hesitation/stalling risks. Mercedes-Benz issued a 15-year/150,000-mile extended warranty campaign for this exact PCV failure on M274 engines, but has excluded M260 engines despite identical failure modes. The manufacturer has not remedied this known design defect, creating potential drivability and engine pressure hazards.

  • 2025 MERCEDES-BENZ GLE 450E 4MATIC
    - Eagle , ID

On XXX at approximately 8:45 am , at the Life Time parking lot, [XXX] the registered owner of the vehicle was slowly pulling the 2025 Mercedes Benz GLE 450 e into a parking space and was actively applying the brake as she entered the space. While she was braking, the vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly accelerated forward. she applied the brakes forcefully and continued braking hard throughout the entire unintended forward movement in an effort to stop the vehicle. Despite her continuous braking effort, the vehicle continued forward, traveled across the raised concrete curb, through the landscaping and bushes, across the grass and paved pedestrian path and toward the wetland reed area. She ultimately brought the vehicle to a stop. The distance from where the unexpected acceleration began to where the vehicle finally stopped was subsequently paced off at approximately 15 yards (45 ft). after the sop a dashboard display was photographed showing the message :ATTENTION ASSIST-SYSTEM SUSPENDED. The photograph documents the message after the event; no conclusion is being drawn from that message regarding the cause of the unexpected acceleration. Photographs taken after the event show tire marks on the paved path, disturbed grass/landscaping, the vehicle near/over the concrete curb, debris /vegetation on the tire tread, the drivers pedal/floor-mat area, and the dashboard message described above. I have requested that Mercedes Benz preserve potentially relevant diagnostic, event, control-module and connected -vehicle data before it is overwritten or altered. I am submitting this complaint because the event warrants evaluation as a potential motor-vehicle safety issue. I am not asserting a specific technical cause. I opened a case # XXX with Mercedes Benz Corporate Customer Care Center in GA. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The car went from 20 miles an hour and 35 miles an hour (happened 2 times) to a sudden hault like hitting a wall. The first time I had to restart the car. The second car, I had to return it to drive. A big X came up on the dashboard. I have owned the car 17 months. Both issues happened in the last 30 days. Nothing beefore. The car has 4415 miles on it. The dealer (Fletcher Jones) was unable to replicate). There was no warning. They told us it was our problem and we could report it to Mercedes Benz which we will do today.

    2. Service Department Misconduct —XXX Appointment On XXX, I brought my vehicle to the dealership’s service department for a pre-scheduled and confirmed appointment regarding a safety-related warning involving the emergency brake system. Despite having provided a full description of the issue at the time of booking, I was informed upon arrival that the diagnostic process would take more than five hours. When I asked about a loaner vehicle — standard practice at Mercedes-Benz dealerships in cases of extended service — I was refused, even though five courtesy vehicles were visibly parked on the lot and at least two other customers who arrived after me were provided loaners and expedited service that same day. I was made to wait in the lobby for the entire day. At approximately 5:00 p.m., just before closing, and despite no diagnostic work having been performed on my vehicle, a loaner vehicle was suddenly made available to me. This inconsistent and apparently discriminatory treatment in the allocation of loaner vehicles and service priority is unacceptable and warrants review. 3. Lack of Communication and Missing Documentation Following Service The technician assigned to my vehicle, [XXX], told me he would call me on Monday, XXX, once diagnostics were complete. He did not call. Instead, I received only an automated text message on Tuesday, XXX, stating the vehicle was ready — with no phone call, no email, and no explanation or summary of the work performed, contrary to standard practice at other Mercedes-Benz dealerships I have used. When I called to follow up, the technician did not answer despite multiple voicemails. I called the service department directly and asked for a supervisor; none was made available. After approximately one hour of calling the main dealership line, a sales associate attempted to reach the service department on my behalf and also received no answer. I then reached the technician directly. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
