2023 NEWMAR NEW AIRE- port st lucie, FL
Hinge failure on bay door. It is a common problem and has failed 3 times so far. The "C" clamp on the hing fails which causes the bolt to fall out and door to fall off. Newmar employees have stated that this is a poor design. Door falls off and the motorhome cannot be driven until fixed. It opens while driving going down the road, which could cause a serious accident. We are paying for yet another mobile rv repair to come out today and fix if possible.

2021 NEWMAR BAY STAR SPORT- WAGONER, OK
So I just had my oil changed. And when they shut the hood, the hood stop fell out the bottom. They really just glued the hood stop on? This is allowed? And they didn't even do it properly. And I'd know. I'm a former ASE Certified Master Tech. First, they used the adhesive as a spacer to make the square bracket sit 90 degrees to the ground on a curved panel. Unnecessary since you can't see the bracket with the hood closed. Second, they didn't rough up either surface for adhesion and, they didn't put any adhesive BETWEEN the bracket and the body, (except for where they used the adhesive as a wedge spacer). They just put the panel bond over the bracket. Looks like they used half a tube on each one. The bracket has 2 holes in it for #8 screws. Why didn't they use those? The panel adhesive costs like $80-$100 bucks a tube. 4 bolts with washers and nyloc nuts are about $2. Imagine if that had fallen off while driving and bounced up and punctured the LP line, or fuel line, or tire, or G*d forbid a BRAKE LINE. Or even worse. What about when that chunk of steel come bounding out from under my vehicle and goes right through the car windshield behind me. And you just know it would have happened at the worst possible time like going down hill in a construction zone at night in the rain. Now those things did not happen this time. But have they? I pulled the remaining adhesive off BY HAND with very little effort. How many other parts have they just “glued on”? They make a lot of motorhomes. Is this their normal practice? How many accidents have they caused they don’t even know about? Please investigate this company’s production practices.

2018 NEWMAR NEW AIRE- Hayden, ID
During recent operation of the vehicle, the passenger-side front vent window failed to remain secure due to an apparent adhesive failure. The latch mechanism detached from the glass or frame, causing the window to become loose and unable to latch properly. This defect created a risk of the window fully detaching while driving, which could have led to a hazardous situation for vehicle occupants or other road users. No injuries or accidents occurred, but the issue significantly compromises vehicle safety. I am aware of NHTSA Recall 21V-571, issued in 2021, which addresses adhesive failure in Hehr 6400 series vent windows on 2019-2021 Newmar New Aire models, produced between October 1, 2018, and October 21, 2021. The symptoms observed in my 2018 model closely match those described in the recall, indicating that the same defect may affect earlier model years not currently included. To assist NHTSA’s investigation, I am prepared to provide additional documentation, such as photographs of the defective window, or facilitate an inspection of the vehicle if required. I respectfully request that NHTSA evaluate this complaint, collect reports from other 2018 Newmar New Aire owners who may have encountered similar issues, and expand Recall 21V-571 to cover the 2018 model year to mitigate potential safety risks. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Please contact me at the provided contact information for any further details or clarification.

2020 NEWMAR NEW AIRE- Las Cruces, NM, NM
On June15, 2025, the passenger’s side vent window glass partially delaminated from the actuator assembly while driving, damaging the actuator and window glass. The front passenger window has never sealed properly since we purchased the RV new. Newmar was notified of this in August 2021, when the coach was returned to Nappanee, IN for warranty repairs. After the window failure, I discovered that Lippert/Newmar issued an NHTSA Recall for these windows on September 8, 2021. The recall notes the issue as being: “the adhesive that bonds the vented portion of the window may fail. Adhesive failure may cause the vent portion of the window to detach…”. We did not receive this recall notice from Newmar. This window, part number 757205, is covered under Lippert HEHR6400 Series Window Vent Recall, NHTSA recall number: 21E047. I contacted Lippert immediately following the window failure on June 16, 2025. After being provided photographic documentation of the window failure, as well as confirmation of the defective part number, Lippert issued case number: 5952303. On June 18, 2025, Lippert instructed me to contact the OEM (Newmar) to arrange inspection and repair of the recalled window with an authorized dealer. On June 18, 2025, I contacted Newmar, who denied responsibility for the recall defect claiming the window had been inspected in August of 2021. When I informed Newmar that I would be filing a complaint with the NHTSA, I was issued a Newmar case number: 00989760. Since June 18, 2025, I have contacted every authorized Newmar Dealer within a 250 mile radius, providing them with: the recall information, Lippert and Newmar case numbers, and the part number for the recalled defective window. To date, no dealership has responded or even contacted Newmar for authorization. On July 9, 2025 I again attempted to contact Newmar to progress the matter and have yet to receive any form of reply. My experience with Newmar is that this recalcitrance is the norm.

2022 NEWMAR KING AIRE- Montgomery, TX
The cargo door panel is set to fly off. The manufacturer, Newmar, is using 2 pieces of tape on the cargo bay door skin and it can fly off very easily. It's very dangerous and we are lucky we caught it before it flew off. There is another King Aire owner who warned us about it happening. His case number is 11661685.

2021 NEWMAR BAY STAR- Knoxville, TN
When opening my hood, one of the hood hinges came loose from the hood. It appears to be epoxied on from the factory. I called factory support and was told to take it to their authorized repair shop at my expense. The risks of these hoods only being secured to the vehicles posses a huge safety risk to the driver and other vehicles. It could break loose and fly off the vehicle while driving down the interstate.

2019 NEWMAR KING AIRE- Bountiful, UT
I own a 2019 Newmar King Aire and have lost two bay door skins in the past couple weeks during a trip from the West Coast to the East Coast. The first one was never recovered and I am horrified what might have happened if it would have hit someone. After we lost the first one, I inspected the rest of them, (14 in total) and they all felt secure. I then checked them again a couple hours prior to losing the second one. The Second one, I recovered after it flew up and damaged the side of my coach. These skins are only held on with 1/2" two-sided tape and I believe they will all fail eventually. And it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously hurt or killed. I have additional photos if I can help in any way. I have asked Newmar what I can do to repair this situation, and they told me I was out of warranty, but they would review this issue and get back to me. 2021 NEWMAR BAY STAR- Finksburg, MD
Wheel bearings and hubs failed on both front wheels of our RV. Our current mileage is 38500. According to maintenance service is not required on the bearings until 60,000 miles. At that time bearings are to be regreased. At 150,000 miles bearings are to be replaced. The mechanic that did the repair work informed us that we were lucky the front passenger wheel didn't fall off. I understand that the Ford F53 chassis has encountered this wheel bearing issue. We have filed a complaint with Ford with pictures and detailed information of the work that was done to both of the front wheels. The only indication we had of this issue was intermittent vibration in the front end (as if you were riding over a rumble strip). Also, the ABS light came on and then went off. We were driving from Maryland to Texas and on the last day of our trip about 100 miles from our destination is when the vibration first occurred. Upon arrival we tried to contact Ford dealerships in the Abilene, Texas area. None of the dealerships contacted would service our RV. We then contacted an independent truck repair shop who diagnosed and fixed our RV. Total cost was just under $8,900. The parts were very difficult to find from Ford. Ford said that many of the parts needed were on back order and wouldn't be available for more than a month. According to the maintenance schedule this issue should not have happened. We feel there is a major issue with the Ford F53 chassis wheel bearings and a recall should be issued by Ford due to the dangerous conditions it creates.
