2020 PORSCHE 911 Complaints

COMPONENT THAT FAILED: A high-pressure fuel injector (cylinder 2). The failed injector and engine wiring harness are available for inspection on request. The vehicle is currently at an authorized dealer. WHAT HAPPENED: While driving at approximately 35-45 mph under light throttle in normal traffic, the engine began misfiring without warning. The misfire worsened rapidly over several seconds and the engine ran roughly enough that I pulled off the road. A strong burning smell was present immediately afterward. The vehicle has continued to misfire since. SAFETY RISK: The failure caused a sudden and unexpected loss of engine performance while the vehicle was moving in traffic, with no prior warning. Had this occurred at highway speed, in a merge, or in an intersection, the loss of power could have created a serious hazard. The strong burning smell suggests unburned fuel reaching the exhaust system and overheating the catalytic converter, which raises a fire concern. CONFIRMED BY: Yes. An independent service center and an authorized dealer both diagnosed the failure. Ignition components were ruled out by swapping spark plugs and coils between banks; the misfire remained on the same cylinder. Compression and cylinder leakdown tested normal, confirming the engine is mechanically sound. Scan tool data with the engine off showed the bank 1 high-pressure fuel rail losing pressure rapidly while bank 2 held normal pressure, indicating a high-pressure fuel leak. The dealer confirmed the fault as a failed fuel injector. INSPECTED BY MANUFACTURER: The authorized dealer inspected the vehicle and submitted a goodwill assistance request to the manufacturer, which was declined without a stated reason. Not inspected by police or insurance. WARNING SIGNS PRIOR TO FAILURE: None. No warning lamps, messages, drivability symptoms, or oil consumption preceded the failure. Loss of power due to Injectors failure on acceleration. A reproducible pattern on HWY merges or passes for example. This is an issue that has been identified and experienced by other Porsche 992/718 owners. Both my rear break lights are showing stress cracks from movement of the frame of the body. There are other references to this happening online from other owners and it's a manufacturer defect. I brought to the dealer and was told that they should be replaced for $3000 each as they are allowing water to intrude and will cause a shorting out of the brake lights. No brake lights would be a major hazard. The cracks in both lights were not due to impacts. It is a design issue.

I am writing to express my significant frustration regarding the handling of NHTSA Recall 25V896. I dropped off my vehicle several weeks ago following the recall notice, only to be informed later that the software remedy is not expected until Q2 2026. It is unacceptable to request that customers surrender their vehicles for a recall when the manufacturer is not yet prepared to provide the necessary service or solution.

There is a fuel line above the engine that is leaking fuel onto the top of the engine and running down to the exhaust components. Car is giving off a very strong gas smell. Brought it to Porsche Jacksonville and they are replacing the fuel line above the engine. They have to pull the engine to do so. No warning messages at all, just a strong gas smell. You can pull the rear engine cover and look into the engine bay and find the fuel on top of the engine, or brownish discoloring from fuel.

The contact owns a 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera. The contact stated that the driver’s and passenger’s seat release straps failed to operate as intended to allow passengers in the rear of the vehicle to enter or exit as needed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that unknown parts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 10.

MY 2020 PORSCHE 911 WAS TWO DAYS OLD WHEN I GET A "IGNITION LOCK ERROR-SERVICE REQUIRED". THE NEXT DAY THE TACHOMETER STOPPED WORKING. AFTER THE DEALER FIXED THE PROBLEM, I DROVE HOME AND PARK THE CAR FOR TWO DAYS. THE NEXT DAY THE CAR WOULD NOT START. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THIS CAR HAS MANY PROBLEMS WITH IT'S COMPUTER WHICH MAKES THE CAR UNSAFE BECAUSE LOTS OF ITS FUNCTIONS ARE COMPUTER CONTROLLED. I ALSO JUST RECEIVED A RECALL NO.19V-878.
