2014 RAM 1500 Complaints

ABS control module failed. I lost traction control while driving and spun out on the road. After that I found that not only does this failure affect traction control but ABS and cruise control.

Power steering module failed ,loss of steering.part was retained by dealer doing repair.The part has been repaired.The part has not been inspected by anyone other than the dealer doing the repair.The warning light only appeared at time of failure.The incident definitely occurred due to faulty power steering module,this was determined by the repairing dealership.

The Electronic Power Steering unit cut out intermittently causing loss of power steering. While the rest of the vehicle operates properly, the loss of power assist makes it difficult to maneuver the vehicle. I took the vehicle to the Ram dealership in Martinsburg, WV. There, the mechanic assessed the gear rack for the power steering needed to be replace at an estimated cost of ~$4,300. The power steering warning light it lit when it is in the failure mode. The symptoms first appeared in May 2025. The vehicles has less that 50,000 miles on it and has never been driven off-road.

FRONT FUEL TANK STRAP RUSTED AND BROKE. LUCKILY TRUCK WAS AT HOME WHEN I NOTICED THIS PROBLEM. FRONT OF TANK IS ONLY INCHES FROM THE GROUND AND COULD PRESENT A MAJOR HAZARD IF I CONTINUED TO OPERATE THIS VEHICLE.

I was driving my truck and my power steering went out. I had very little steering and almost ran into a cement wall. My steering wheel will barely turn. I got it to a mechanic, and I was told I need an entire new steering rack. Part number 68628858AA. I had zero notification that this was going to happen. It was driving fine. This is almost $4000 to fix. I only have 68,000 miles on my truck. This part needs to be recalled on 2014 Rams. After some research there are several cases of this exact issue. It won't let me download my receipts

The ABS control module failed on my 2014 Ram 1500 and is no longer available from Mopar. The part (68228991AD) is discontinued or on indefinite backorder. This disables a federally required safety system (ABS and electronic stability control). Dealerships will not install used parts, and there is no OEM solution. This renders the vehicle unsafe to operate and poses a risk to me and others on the road. Dodge/Stellantis needs to provide a solution or replacement. I’m requesting NHTSA investigation and recall if necessary.

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the parking brake and check engine warning lights illuminated. The messages "ABS Unavailable" and "Traction Control Unavailable" were displayed. Additionally, the speedometer was inoperable. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that the ABS module needed to be replaced, but the parts were on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 184,000.

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the ABS light was illuminated. The contact stated that the braking distance was extended while depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, the traction control warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed and it was determined that the control module had failed and needed to be repaired. The contact inquired if the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V287000 (Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and the dealer confirmed the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V287000 (Electronic Stability Control (ESC) nor covered under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 113,000.

Driving under normal conditions, truck had been running perfectly for the 3 months I owned it. Coming down a hill on the freeway, lights started blinking on the dash, then making a knocking noise, lost pressure (all control) of gas pedal, then white smoke from drivers side, then grey smoke, then completely engulfed in flames within 5 minutes of dash blinking. Complete loss of engine bay

After starting truck the Service Power Steering light came on. Can't turn the steering wheel-steering is locked up. It appears Chrysler knows about it and has recalled some 2015 Model Years for this problem, but no recalls for this for the 201 Model Year. This could be a safety hazard if this happens while driving the truck.
