2014 RAM 1500 Complaints

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the messages "Service Trailer Brake System, Service Electronic Braking System, and Service Anti-lock Brake System" were displayed on the instrument panel. The ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with ABS control module. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 105,000.

On 2/20/25 I was driving making a turn it was hard to turn I checked to power steering fluid and it was fine. I checked for any leaks there was none. Then I took it to the mechanic and they said I need a new Steering Gear Assembly ( around $4,000) ????? I see there are a lot of other people having the same problems with the Ram1500.

My power steering has suddenly become intermittent. It works sporadically during a turn. I am receiving no warning signs or codes for this problem. I have read on line that there was a study being done by NHTSA (2003) about a possible recall for this issue. Can you tell me the results of the findings? Has the study been completed?

Was told by my mechanic that the ABS control module needs to be replaced. All ABS warning lights are illuminated on the dash panel cluster. He said the Ram/Mopar has an over 1 year wait for this part to be back in stock. That is insane. What scam is this from FCA/RAM? Are people supposed to drive around their truck and hope the ABS system doesn't fail and end of hurting someone because they discontinued the part. Absolute frustrating and uncalled for by FCA/RAM. This also a very widespread issue with these modules in RAM trucks and why isn't something done about this? How can they sell vehicles that are potentially very very unsafe?

ABS module failed, Error Code C2200. Issue is so common that replacements parts are unavailable nationwide and have been for months. Dealership has reported that the module is under "Engineering Review" with the manufacturer and has been for over a year with the deadlines being extended repeatedly. This is a safety issue, and the truck cannot be repaired.

ABS module is faulty. I was told at the local Pep Boys after running a diagnostic test that the ABS module has an error. There is a recall on the electronic systems with the ABS I am aware of and would like to have that fixed on a recall.

I was driving in a 55 MPH 2 lane road, when all of sudden the power steering went out. I had to man handle the steering wheel back to my house. It has 122000 miles on it but that should never happen, could of been a real bad outcome. I have checked out everything and have narrowed it down to the EPS system.

The vehicle has a fault in the ABS system that is causing the ABS light to stay on, as well as the traction control light and the Brake light. This means the brakes will lock up, causing the vehicle to slide, the vehicle has no assisted traction control, and the cruise control will not engage. In a vehicle like this (a pick-up truck) the back end is notoriously light and will easily loose traction during emergency braking and without traction control, can easily lose control on wet roads. The part needed to repair this issue, the ABS Module, is unavailable anywhere...and has been for years now. Some can still be found in old junk vehicles, or for sale out of used vehicles, but these have no guarantee and are no safer or less susceptible to failure than the stock product. No to mention they can only be found at exorbitant prices since they are in such high demand on an obviously sub-par part. Why does this part have so many issues and why is it impossible to fix? The vehicle is unsafe without this fix! The tires absolutely slide on wet roads now with loss of steering control and the rear end easily breaks free of traction on wet roads! The vehicle also will not pass inspection anymore because of this issue. This has been a problem for a year at this point.,

I have been the only owner of this truck since it was new from the factory. Some time in the first part of 2022 the ABS module light on the dash was coming on and then going off. When I needed an oil change I took the truck to the dealer I always go to and informed the service writer about it. They said they couldn't check it out for the module until it completely goes out. So, on 5/22/23 I took the truck to the dealer cause the ABS module went out along with my trailer brake control and traction control. The service writer called the parts depart. to see if the module was in house and parts said they would have to order it. Service writer said I could drive the truck and I told them that the brakes are not the same as when the module was working. I told them that you have to push harder on the pedal and that the brakes are not stopping as quickly. He said it would be alright. Every time I take the truck in for an oil change I ask them about the module and call them quite often and the service writer's tell me the same about the module. Parts can not get a module from the manufacturer and don't know when they will get one but, the part is on order. The service writer did give me a phone number to the manufacturer linking me to a help department to see if they can inquire or know why the company is not making them. On 1/23/25 I did call the manufacturer and talk to one of the personal there. The person did not have any information on the module and they said they couldn't tell me why there are no ABS MODULES and that I should keep calling the parts department at my local dealer. So, I guess I don't know when the brakes will completely go out while I am driving it or my family is in it with me that may cause a wreck. I can't pull my camper and haven't for two years now. I don't know what will happen on a rain slick road or an ice and snow covered road. I can't sell the truck or trade it in to get a proper vehicle. Please help Thank You

ABS Control Module has failed. The part number is 68228991AD. The dealership informed me the manufacturer no longer makes this part, and they were unable to resolve the issue. While I was advised by the dealership the truck is ok to drive, my additional research indicated a failed ABS module can lead to the wheels locking up while driving, the speedometer to stop working and the transmission locking out due to the computer system thinking there’s a break failure. This is a huge safety risk to others around me on the road, myself and my family.
