2017 RAM 1500 Complaints

The contact owns a 2017 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and making a turn, the steering wheel became stiff. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 70,000.

I was filling antifreeze up every couple days then about 2 weeks later I was driving it just shut down, now won't start brought it to a garage said the engine locked up I see there's a recall, but it says not on this one, and it won't start the truck only has 64,000 miles on it.

During the rainstorms here in sacramento California water was coming inside the truck. At the dealer it was diagnosed with the 3rd brake light and flapper vents needed replacement that was the cause of water leaks. water was entering on the back cabin and baseboards were flooded. It’s a safety hazard because mold started forming real bad. We didn’t catch it right away.

Constant engine code for a very small evap leak. Vehicle was taken to C&C Automotive (4014 Washington Road, Augusta, Ga. 30907 || 762-685-5555) for a diagnostic. C&C Automotive advised that the leak was due to a faulty Fuel Control Valve, which appeared to be in a melted state. The vehicle has never been in a collision and has 11,000 miles. After some research it was found that there was a previous recall for the 2017 Ram 1500 for the same issue but I was told by Chrysler's Customer Service my Vin was not affected by the recall and I would have to pay for the replacement out of pocket. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the contact was notified of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel). The vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the fuel filter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Electric assist steering failure, truck is getting hard to steer either direction. Air ride system is bouncing like having no suspension at all, went into dealer and they report that the compressor, control board and manifold all need to be replaced. Vehicle only has 68,000 miles.

I ran off the road down an embankment causing a frontend collision, and the airbags did not go off. The passenger seatbelt did not restrain the front passenger causing injuries

When the temperature dropped below -10F last Thursday, the front air suspension dropped to the bump stops and remained there until the temperature rose to above 32 degreesF. This made the truck unable to steer completely to the right or left, greatly lengthening the time and distance required to make a turn, lane change, etc. In effect, the vehicle is unsafe to drive under those conditions. No error code was generated during this length of time.

on two occasions the vehicle rolled away while in park and ignition off and on multiple occasions vehicle would not come out of park

The contact owns a 2017 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph the vehicle T-Boned crashed into the passenger side of a school bus. During the crash the front end of the vehicle was severely damaged and the vehicle was destroyed but the air bags did not deploy. The driver sustained a concussion, bruised left side ribs and torso which required medical treatment. One passenger from the school bus was also injured and required medical treatment but no further information was available. The vehicle was towed away. A police report was taken at the scene. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the incident. The failure mileage was 100,000.
