Recall has been out there for a year and a half with no remedy. Unsure if our vehicle is safe to drive. When we do drive, the alarms on the dash go off constantly.

Manufacturer is claiming to have "No Remedy" for this recall (C4B). However, they were able to replace the defective part, charged me for the repair and offered a reimbursement. However, they are not offering to reimburse the full cost of the repair. It has come to my knowledge that Ram does have a remedy, as they have reengineered the HCU part affected by this recall and issued a new part number for the updated parts. Original part was 68143491AA and has since been updated to 68143491AB after this recall was issued. It appears that Ram is lying to consumers about having "No Remedy" when they do in fact have one. I am assuming they do not want fix these vehicles unless the original part fails as a cost savings on this recall. The issue is they are refusing to cover the entire cost of the recall repair when the vehicle did need to be fixed. I was charged $1185.56 for this repair in February of 2026 and Ram is only offering $1141.85 as the reimbursement amount. This recall should have been covered at zero charge and without requiring me to pay upfront for the repair, as it is evident by updated part numbers that Ram does in fact have a remedy.

The brake system malfunctioned. After applying the brakes, instead of slowly stopping, the truck began to slide. The truck has a factory recall that RAM doesn't have a fix for. Our truck has a light that says our ABS needs servicing. This has been on for several months. We took it to the dealer but they said they can't fix it because RAM doesn't have a fix for it. This is truly unacceptable. Next time it could cause an accident. The traction control light also comes on and goes off.

I have reached out to several dealers in the past year to get this recall fixed. Most say parts aren't available, However i spoke with my local dealer in Vicksburg Mississippi and the parts department stated they had the parts to fix this issue and to call back and speak with services to set up an appt. . I called back as i was asked and the service guy said we don't have the parts to fix this ABS recall. I then stated that your parts guy said the parts were available on site for my vin number. He then stated well i wont get paid for it. This has been a major inconvenience not to mention with the ABS and Traction control are faulted, the cruise control wont work and the 4X4 wont work. I have been dealing with this over a year and the say the least it is getting very frustrating.

HCU Hydraulic Control Unit ABS malfunction. Intermittent loss of ABS/ESC/Traction control. Constant warning lights flashing on and off on screen display in truck with audible alarm. Vehicle is not listed as having a recall, however, this is the exact same issue as many other 2018 Ram 2500 trucks that were included in the recall and my VIN is included in the numbers for the Class Action Lawsuit. The loss of ABS/ESC/Traction control may cause my vehicle to crash without prior warning. My vehicle needs to be included in the Safety Recall Reference: C4B / NHTSA 24V-896

I am submitting this complaint about Safety Recall C4B / NHTSA 24V-896 for my 2018 Ram 2500 (VIN: [XXX] ). I am active-duty military living in Virginia; the truck is registered in Tennessee. FCA’s recall notice says the brake hydraulic control unit (HCU) may fail, causing intermittent then permanent loss of ABS, ESC, and traction control, and that this “may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.” My truck shows as affected, but I have been unable to get the recall repair. The notice also states that the remedy is “not currently available” and that FCA will contact me when it is. As of February 2026, more than a year after the recall was initiated, I am still being told that parts are unavailable and there is no firm ETA for when the repair can be performed. In the meantime, I continue to drive with a known safety defect FCA has already acknowledged. My truck’s ABS and ESC lights cycle on and off while driving, consistent with the defect description. This creates real concern about whether ABS/ESC will function during emergency braking or low-traction conditions, especially given that I use the truck for commuting and towing. I am also aware that FCA is reimbursing owners who have already paid out of pocket to replace failed HCUs, which suggests that replacing the HCU is the recognized fix, even as owners like me are told there is “no remedy available” under the recall. This appears to leave many vehicles on the road with a known safety defect and no timely, practical way to obtain the promised free repair. I respectfully request that NHTSA review FCA’s handling of Recall 24V-896, evaluate whether FCA is providing a remedy within a reasonable time, and consider any enforcement or additional oversight needed to ensure parts are supplied and repairs completed promptly for all affected vehicles.
