At 9794 miles, warranty repair for Code C002001, failed ABS pump motor control, general circuit failure, replaced control module under warranty. Now the vehicle is having same issue at 37,XXX miles, and no longer under warranty. Screen constantly flashes "Service electronic brake system" and "Service ABS System" over and over. ABS light comes on. Traction control light comes on. Vehicle does not have functioning electronic brakes or ABS. I contacted original dealership who performed repair at 9794 miles who now reports they "have no record" of this repair, although I still have the customer copy of the receipt. I contacted Mopar customer support on 7/11/23 who told me that I would be contacted within 3 days, but I have not been verbally contacted. I also filed an online complaint with Mopar on 7/11/23 and have not received an electronic reply, either. This is a known issue on 2017 Ram 2500 trucks and something must be done about it. My vehicle is not braking safely and I fear to drive the vehicle at this time. Furthermore, our life circumstances require me to often pull a trailer, for which I am unable and uncomfortable with doing at this time. Please help. Dealership is reporting that this could be up to an $1800 or more repair for me to pay, out of pocket, which is unethical. This issue was originally repaired under warranty and persists. Furthermore, class action lawsuits have been filed over this issue, and investigations have been launched over this issue. Please help, thank you.

2020 - Started experiencing antilock brake light going on/off. May 2020 - Took to Dealer at 13,179 miles. Dealer replaced anti lock brake control under warranty. November 2022 - Took to Dealer at 29,404 miles with same issues that occurred in 2020. Replaced ABS module but issue was not resolved. Dealer said truck needs Hydraulic ABS pump which they do not have. Search of Internet determined that my experience is similar to other owners.

Faulty part ABS/ traction control system. These parts have previously failed and been replaced two times over the past 3 years and I am having the same problem again. I was told by the dealer that parts are unavailable and offered no alternatives other than continue driving the truck as is, with a faulty brake system until the part is re-designed and made available again. As the truck is now out of warranty and the timeframe of first replacement is beyond one year, the cost of this repair will now be out of pocket. I am currently across the country trailering a fifth wheel RV along with my family with no other option than to try and make it home with a faulty brake system, obviously putting the lives of my family at risk, then possibly wait months for the part to become available. Apparently this is a known problem with this year and model truck yet NHTSA has not mandated a safety recall? I respectfully request to make a formal complaint and would appreciate A PERSONALIZED RESPONSE explaining how this is possible and what steps are being taken to remedy a situation where drivers are forced to drive vehicles with known faults in brake systems.

ABS dash light illuminated. "Service Electronic Braking System" message. ABS, Traction Control, and Cruise Control disabled, while driving. Repair shop indicates faulty ABS Module/Control Unit. This part is widely known to be faulty on this year/make/model. Part also extremely backordered and not available for replacement or repair. The replacement part has been redesigned/updated - yet no recall issued for known faulty part.

ABS and Traction control will randomly shut off while driving, increasing the chances of a crash. Additionally, when this happens, cruise control also shuts off abruptly, causing the vehicle to slow suddenly. This has happened hundreds of times, more often when the roads are wet or when it's raining.

ABS Light goes on and off, Traction Control/ABS/Cruise control do not function when the light is on. Dealer diagnosed it as an ABS Module and ABS Hydraulic Control Unit needing replacement. Parts have been backordered for at least 8 months, this makes my truck unsafe to operate.

Having the reported issue with the ABS system where the warning lights will come on and turn off cruise control as well. I pull a 5th wheel travel trailer for work and I rely on these brakes more than most.

My truck’s ABS warning light goes on and off repeatedly when I am driving. When the light comes on, my cruise control is not available. My traction control also does not work. The mechanic says the ABS module needs to be replaced but the part is unavailable. I have called multiple dealers across the country and cannot find one. Apparently this is a widespread problem with this vehicle… We have been researching it.

2017 RAM 2500 has known issue with Antilock Brake Unit Hydraulic Controller - This prevents brakes from operating correctly and traction control / speed control is disabled - Confirmed diagnosis with dealer - Vehicle has current Mopar Vehicle Protection (service plan) but part is unavailable to be ordered - RAM dealer stated vehicle does not pass state safety inspection. RAM Care case submitted. No accidents and 40k miles. This component failure can result in unsafe conditions while driving due to loss of control while stopping or in slippery conditions. Constant alert and lack of speed control can lead to driver fatigue.
