2018 RAM 2500- Gravois Mills, MO
The Ram ABS Brake recall is over 2 years old. My dash abs lights and alarm continually are alarming. When they alarm the cruise control quits working too. The manufacturer cannot tell me when the parts will be available. They say it is safe to drive but the recall says accidents could occur. I cannot get rid of this unsafe truck because the resale value stinks due to the recall. What do 317,000 owners do?

I received this safety recall in late 2024 (it is currently July 2026). I have made numerous calls to local dealerships and have called the manufacturer's customer service line. I have been told during these calls that parts are not available to repair my vehicle. Considering the safety recall notices I received in the mail states in bolded text that "the loss of ABS/ESC/Traction control may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning", the time this has been left unrepaired seems unreasonable. I am appealing to the NHTSA to take action to advocate for highway safety by requiring the parts necessary for satisfaction of this recall be made available in a reasonable timeframe. Thank you.

The brake hydraulic control unit (HCU) has malfunctioned as described in recall campaign 24V-896/C4B, resulting in the ABS and Traction Control warning lights remaining illuminated on the dashboard for an extended period. This indicates an ongoing loss of ABS/Traction Control system function, which increases the risk of a crash during hard braking or slippery conditions, per the manufacturer's own description of this defect. I have not taken it to a dealer for a repair attempt because the manufacturer's own service bulletin confirms no remedy/parts are currently available for this vehicle's configuration. No crash has occurred to date, but the vehicle is being driven with a known, unaddressed active safety defect with no manufacturer timeline for correction.
